Chinese food- I get steamed chicken with brocolli with white sauce on the side. I dip my fork in the sauce then eat the chicken and brocolli. You get the flavor without being soaked in the fatty sauce. I need to specifically ask for no rice because believe it or not, rice is a huge temptation for me.

Counselor qualifications- My clinic is staffed by a PA or NP (this allows them to give out the AS so they have to have a Dr. or advanced practitioner who can essentially prescribe meds.) There is an RN that does counseling and a former client who was successful and is now a counselor. They don't necessarily have to be medical personnel. I have to admit, I prefer to meet with the PA who was trained by Medi headquarters. She always seems to know what to say to get me with the program.

I would take one in the late morning (10:00 ish) and then another in the afternoon (2:00 ish). I then found myself forgetting to take the morning one and weaned myself down to 1 AS. My hungry time (and still is!) is during the afternoon from 3-5 pm....and that's when the AS needed to help me out. I now know that's my tough time and I try to plan out my snacks so that have something more filling around 3:00 to get me until we eat around 6.
Keri, I wish I had that bottle of AS now. Being home-bound for the last 3 weeks finally did me in and I caved and overdid on carbs that of course now made me crave them and everything else in sight. I feel I need to go into "carb-purging" mode but it is so difficult without AS, especially when I am so bored

Hi Cheftrish - I'm just butting in here to mention that there are some good recipes on the Medi Weightloss website, in case you haven't signed on there yet. I really like the Skinny General Tso's Chicken. Don't know if you're allowed the carbs yet, but each serving is 179 cals & 10 carbs.

MEDI site

I've signed into the MEDI site, but I like this one so much more I haven't returned. I'm pretty sure that site doesn't have any message boards, which to me is the fun part. I love being able to share this journey with other people, that have SUCCEDDED, or that are embarking upon it with me. I will check out the recipes though, once I learn how to use their site. Trish the code is at the bottom of all of your receipts, so if you can find an older one that will do.
Count down to week 4 weigh in @ 1130 I'm nervous
Erica I hadn't thought about asking them to put the sauce on the side. I will try that and see what happens.

BTW I'm really excited that I've had enough post, that I got to create a Signature

Swirveegirl, you and I have the same stats almost! Off by just a few, you started a few weeks before me. I dunno about you, but I think that's pretty cool! We'll have to compare notes as we progress!

Good luck on your weigh in!!!

I agree ~ this one is a site I go to constantly! When I was going to my clinic every week (I now go monthly) I rushed home every time to check my "stats" on the Medi site. It made me feel good to see the graph go down! I still like to look at all the changes in my "numbers" now and then to remind myself why I have to be "good..."

Yep! we do. I wish you all would upload some pics, only if you feel comfortable of course. I know some people like this because it's anonymous if you want it to be. It would be neat to put faces with the names. Just sayin.. No pressure
We could be so suffessful, that we could take this message board to The Today Show.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've been lurking the boards since work has been chaotic.

Everyone has been doing great and I still feed off of all your advice/questions and comments.

Keep up the stamina everyone, you may not realize just how many people read the threads without posting a single thing...ever. Your influence is strong young jedi's.

LOL!

Afternoon everyone,
I have alot of agreeing to do today. I too have trouble eating my 500 cal. of protein. I am usually under and sometimes way under but I am still losing so far. My counselor says if its working for now she won't complain. I guess I need to schedule some snack times. When I am at work I am on computer all day and don't think about snacks and when I am home at night my pugs snuggle on my lap and I don't want to get up and disturb them.
eating out tonight with my daughter and her family. We are going to Cracker Barrel if anyof you have one. I know I can find something there that will fit my eating plan. They have good veggie plates there too but only veggie I can have is the green beans cause other choices are corn and carrots.
I walked really hard on Tues and now my knee is hurting too bad to do anymore walking. I just take the pugs out to potty and try to walk a little farther each time with them.
I too really love this site and you need support to make things work.
Have a great day everyone. Hugs, Lynn in OHio

Toodles - Where are you at in Ohio? My oldest DD is in Toledo! Also, do not eat below 500 calories cuz you will totally reset your metabolism and will have a harder time losing eventually. You should eat something protein every 4 hours or so. Even a couple of pork rinds, beef jerky, a boiled egg, etc. We don't want you to start burning down your own muscle because you're not keeping enough protein in to maintain your muscle....I have a 17 year old kitty that has REALLY become a LAP kitty since his 'brother' passed away around Thanksgiving. I know what you mean about feeling like you're settled in once they get cuddled up on/beside you! I'm on my little laptop and working on homework or watching TV and he's right there....sometimes laying across my arms just so he gets as close to me as he can!! Spoiled!! (But I love it!)

I can't upload pictures for some reason, mine say the files are all too big, any advice? Deb, I have my dad's 16 year old cat that I have inherited. He is such a sweetie and is often on my lap when I am on the computer. Then he lays on the laptop and i am done for the day because when I try to pull him off he digs in and has pulls off keys! I think he likes the warmth because he does it to my daughter too. I bought him a heating pad and he seems to like that! LOL! I am such a crazy cat lady!

I fell and injured my wrist Saturday night. The injury to my right wrist is called a launate dislocation. They did an emergency carpal tunnel release at Dr. Phillips hospital, then transported me to ORMC where Dr. Davenport, a hand specialist put the bone back in place with pins. The second surgery took about 2 1/2 hours.

I was released from the hospital on Tuesday. The pins are due to come out 3/11/11 at which time Dr. Davenport will recast me. I am supposed to wear the new cast for 3 months, then start physical therapy.

I also suffered a traumatic hematoma to my right thigh from the same fall. That should heal on its own over time.

I weighed myself this morning with the cast so that I can keep it ln check. I will not
use this as an excuse to gain weight.

I LOVE beef jerky for my protein. VERY low fat and like...only 1 or 2 carbs.
Plus, it makes the breath so kissable-y fresh.

Week 4 completed, Hello week 5

Stats are updated Does that count as 1derland? Because if you are rounding, I'm still @ 200lbs
I really must have been CRAVING chocolate. I came home with unsweetended Dark Cocoa powder, and 3 different kinds of ATKINS chocolate shakes No, I don't intend to over do it. I'll have 1 or the other and see how my ketosis goes, but the shakes are only 5 carbs so I didn't feel too badly
MEDI clinic told me that there is a BROWNIE recipe on their website. I need to check that out ASAP. Has anyone made it?

Congratulations on onderland Swirveegrl. Don't round up!! Not on scales!! You wouldn't want to pay for 4 lbs of apples if you bought only 3 1/2 lbs, right?

If you make the brownie recipe let us know what you think....just make sure it is really an acute recipe and not a maintenance recipe.

Sorry Susie

Susie that sounds like an awful fall. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Is there a limit to the # of private messages? I think my mail box says only 100? KOOL! I didn't even notice that I am a "senior" poster now. I feel so accomplished.

Deb I like they way you think. I won't be rounding

Hi Susie - Ouch!! I googled 'lunate' (that's how to spell it) and I remember having patients in the ER with this or navicular bone injuries. Good thing you got it treated so quickly. So, hopefully it's your non-dominant hand? Hopefully you are not having any numbness? I used to tell patients to go around like they were pledging allegiance all the time (for right hand over left side of chest/heart) or visaversa. You really want to keep it elevated to keep it most comfortable and not throb from hanging dependently due to gravity. You may end up with a large bruise in the next few days to weeks from you thigh injury....lovely, huh!? I'm so glad you didn't hit your head! Sounds like you may have tripped over a parking curb or something for that kind of fall? That's why they are called 'accidents.' Praying you are comfortable, my friend.

Maybe this clinic doesn't like me or doesn't want me to be involved with their reindeer games. I had no idea there were support groups there. Of course, it could be my ADD and lack of ....oh...hey...a squirrel is outside my window

OMG Trish

You were so right! Cocoa powder rocks! I just had a DELICIOUS hot chocolate for 4 carbs. I used 8oz of almond breeze unsweetened chocolate milk, 1 tsp dark cocoa powder, and 2 pumps Davinci Chocolate Syrup.
