New Help about Cooking with Starchy Veggies
I am just starting my third week and am down 10 pounds so far. I am planning on making a vegetable beef soup with cabbage and green beans. I have a 5 year old DD who LOVES carrots and potatoes in soup. My question is if I cook the soup w/carrots and potates but do not eat the carrots on potatoes, will there be a lot of carbohydrates leeched (??) from the potatoes/carrots in liquid?? I'm sure there will be some, but I have no idea. Thoughts??

Make the soup for your family as usual. Just make a small portion for yourself without the added veggies of carrots and potatoes.
Bring your question over to the thread below: Medi Recipe Question And Comments You will get a lot more response there. There are so many threads that it is almost impossible to get to all of them every day. We generally make it to the recipe threads, our maintanance thread, and our monthly thread. You will also find some good tips in the Newbie thread as well. And welcome to the group! Jo

right. if you cook those vegetables in the soup you are going to eat, they will contribute carbs, even if you fish them out.
I have had really good luck with diced daikon radish in soups, to make a potato-like addition. They lose their sharp flavor when they cook. |
