Love that! Very expressive - I'm so glad that you got the support you needed, when you needed it.

I don't like looking at the before/after pictures for exactly the same reason. Sometimes I even get a little jealous of the success that others on this board have - applauding for them certainly, but beating myself up that I'm not losing as quickly. BUT, then I look at the week I took off back in October while on vacation, and the kit kat bars I ate last week...

I'm no athlete, so that's not what's slowing me down. I'm slowing me down with my own bad choices.

I've enjoyed reading the postings on self-sabotage. I'm right smack in the middle of that. Lazy about writing it down, rewarding myself for losing with a little "treat"... totally counterproductive. This is the point at which I've quit before - I'm down almost 30 pounds from a year ago (pre-Medi I did WW for awhile) and I look and feel a lot better. But I'm not where I need to be and being complacent and thinking "this is good enough" isn't going to get me there. But I have managed to stay in ketosis, despite what the scale says, so I will take that as a victory!

Thanksgiving will be very hard. I'm weighing in the following morning, and I really, really want to stay in ketosis for that. I do feel a sense of accomplishment when that little stick turns purple, and they always commend me on doing so well. I'll try my best, and we'll see how it goes!

Not Giselle- Congrats on making goal! That is awesome!

I had my WI today and I am down 2.1. My favorite counselor/NP saw me today also and I was so glad. She has great ideas and totally gets the emotional side of this that I have been struggling with. I had a few oopses this week. The one counselor is always so happy when I have a loss. I was talking today about how I had an okay wt. loss and my numbers look good but I didn't feel as in control as I would like to. We talked about how this is normal at the 20-25lb mark because I don't feel do disgusting and fat and my clothes all fit now (except those that are too big. This week I am going try to stick to the plan better, not beat myself up if I'm not perfect and explore the reasons why I want to lose more.

Cat- she called you an athlete! That's an awesome compliment! I would much rather be considered an athlete than be 120lbs. Seriously!

We decided to go to DD's in Jacksonville today instead of tomorrow after our weigh-in so we'll miss the clinic this week. I'm not sure I lost anything this week any way, which is confusing to me since I've been pretty darned compliant with this WOE! I think my body is at the point it's holding onto every pound it can.....I do see that I'm changing shape (if not size) again.....and that's not bad....EXCEPT my bras are getting baggy in the cup part

Bill and I had to have a "talk" this morning! He has actually GAINED 3 pounds (by our scale)! He's back to doing "BILL'S DIET" instead of following Medi, then he's upset because the scale isn't moving in the right direction!

He's stopped writing down what he eats, and has been grabbing a few almonds here, and there. He's slipping alcohol in especially on weekends......no carbs, but lots of empty calories! I doubt he's drinking enough plain water. Then there is the peanut butter.........spoon fulls!
I'm also not really sure he's eating ENOUGH protein, but is snacking more.....not on cookies or chips like in the past but I'm sure he's still having too many carbs and isn't in ketosis.......he NEVER registered that he was in ketosis (he was one of THOSE people.....LOL) but the clinic said since he was losing so well he was doing everything right.......well, NOT now.

SO we're going to really get back on Medi in a big way.....we're recommitting! We both have at least 25-30 pounds more we want to lose, so we're NOT going to become complacent, and satisfied with our new slimmer, trimmer bodies..........We ARE going to become HEALTHY darn it!
MEDI ALL THE WAY!!!

Ericka - I was psyched when she used the term "my athletes" too! Both for the possessiveness of it (I like it that she takes a personal interest) and the word "athlete". I've gotten used to the term, though, after doing enough century rides and the most recent half marathon. So while I like the term, I am very well aware that there are "fathletes" too... I am/was one of them!

Not Giselle - I'm jealous as he...youknowwhat but I'm very happy for you! Congratulations!

Deb, don't be fooled, I'm making some bad choices occasionally too. The self sabatoge force is strong with this one... (Mary, your husband and his almond "snacks" reminds me of me! I'm going to have to keep track of mine. I've "snacked" on 3 almonds today already...)

I really don't think that being judgmental (or stating opinions as facts) is necessarily helpful. I don't subscribe to an all or nothing mentality, nor do I live my life that way. It also tends to bring what can be meaningful discussions on this forum to a screeching halt.

I made us a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner on Monday. I was mindful while I chose recipes - making mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. I made a wonderful veggie packed dressing rather than mostly bread stuffing. I made a lighter cider-based gravy. I made a fruit-filled, spicy fresh cranberry sauce that was to die for.

I enjoyed every minute of my day-long cooking experience. I just don't get to do that very often anymore. I ate and savored a little bit of everything. I truly appreciated the experience, the company and the meal. I've added an extra workout this week to balance the meal. It was well worth it!

Have a wonderful holiday, everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I have been away for a few days so I'm still catching up. Fortunately for me, I'm not a huge fan of the Thanksgiving foods and can control myself. I wish you all the best!

Oh, Laughing Cow is now making a Blue Cheese Light. It really tastes like blue cheese! Now celery and blue cheese have re-entered my world... yeah!

Catch up with you all soon!

So what is everyone planning on eating for Thanksgiving? Will you just eat turkey and veggies? Will you take a few tastes of other things?

Here is my plan- I eat a very light breakfast and get a workout in before dinner. Dinner at my DMIL's if first. Turkey... and a medi safe veggie if she has any. I may bring myself some salad. I can't eat stuffing because of my celiac so that leaves out Pumpkin pie too. I read the carb count on cranberry sauce and it's not worth it. I was going to make a much lighter ww/sf jello recipe that someone gave me but forgot to get fresh cranberries at the store so out. I did make the medi pumpkin casserole that they suggest to substitute for sweet potato caserole. I had a little today and it is pretty good so I am deciding if I will take that as part of my dinner #1 or dessert which comes later at my parent's house. Pretty much my plan is, anytime I want to shove something in my mouth, I am going to eat turkey I have to remember that this holiday, like life, is not really about food. It's about being thankful and speding time with family.

What's your plan?

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Weighed in today and had a 4.1 loss for week 2 - actually it was 2 days short of a week but my center is closed tomorrow and Friday so I went today. Looking forward to eating some veggies and snacks but am a little worried about planning my intake. I bought a box of bars - man are they expensive! - but I am sick of eggs for breakfast and would like an option.

Congrats on goal, NotGiselle and to Gator for a good first week weigh-in.
Kelly, your dinner sounds great but like Paulyesters, Thanksgiving isn't really my favorite meal. So I will stick with the turkey and green beans. I also planned some shrimp and veggies for apps so I can have some of that beforehand. Haven't really told anyone outside of my DH and close friend about being on Medi, especially my in-laws - just don't want to answer all the questions - KWIM?

Erika, I like your plan and agree that spending time with family and being grateful is more important - and I am so happy that I am moving forward towards my goal that I won't miss the fattening food.

Have a great day, all

I can definitely understand the not telling part. My parents have no idea (I haven't seen them since July). My in-laws know. My MIL has been fabulous and my FIL has been less supportive. He doesn't "approve" of the plan, but honestly it's my body, so there you go. Tomorrow will be easy since the main dish at my in-laws is broiled crab cakes and I'm bringing Medi-friendly stuff for myself.

Subee - the bars are definitely pricey. I liked them as an option, but I had to cut out soy, so they had to go. I do protein shakes often for breakfast. I have a range of stuff that I mix with them. Sometimes decaf coffee, sometimes plain greek yogurt and fruit or a squirt of sugar-free flavored syrup. Sometimes I use PB2 (powdered peanut butter that Netrition sells).

Question of the day! I am about to run out of my fat burner and was trying to decide if I should continue to use it. It's kind of expensive.... and I'm stretched as it is financially to continue Medi (But it's worth it!!).
Just curious if anyone has had success with not using them, and/or used a cheaper brand of fat burner (maybe a natural substitute?) Hope that makes sense!!! Happy day after Thanksgiving.... gotta' be honest... I'm GLAD it's over!!

I stopped taking the Fat Burners (and all the other supplements) after the first bottles ran out and I continued to lose at the same rate. Love Medi, best money I ever spent, but it is a business and they do try to make money. I'm convinced the prescribed diet, appetite suppressants, and a good multivitamin are all you need to be successful. But that is just my opinion and everyone's body is different

I think I remember reading a thread about supplements......maybe do a search...anyway I think at least more than a few medi weightloss people use Mega Green Tea Extract, in place of the Medi fat burner. A while back I tried doing a google search for the ingredients listed on hte Medi fat burner bottle, but didn't find anything OTC with even most of those ingredients......let me know if you can find anything

Well, I survived thanksgiving... I think. At least I am still in ketosis. :-) I guess that means I did well.

It was difficult to count exactly what I had Thursday and Friday because I was out of town with my family. However, I did make good choices and did my best eyeball the appropriate servings. I had some minor cheats, just because it was thanksgiving. And I mean really minor..I had a bite of yams and a bite of pumpkin pie (no crust in it though, lol).

Also got an omelet (made without milk) for breakfast out yesterday. And the omelet had broccoli, spinach and tomatoes in it. It also said it came with "yogurt Jalapeno Cheese"... who knew what that was? So I asked for it on the side and it was just 2 slices of pepper-jack cheese. So I broke up some of one of the slices and added it in.

My water intake was questionable, but I always had a glass of water near me and I was always filling it up, so it was at least close I think.

I did my best to make estimates for my journal but I don't know how accurate I was. Oh well, back home today where I can have better control over exactly what and how much I eat.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Oh, and if it wasn't obvious from my screen name... Go Gators!! At least football season lends itself well to grilling out! Just have to avoid the beer...

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with both of our kids and their families up in Jacksonville. I'm really not going to analize/think/worry/or beat myself up about what I ate, but I am right back on the Medi bandwagon. I am still in the acute phase, so it is important to keep to the program IF I expect to lose weight, and to learn how to eat in the real world once I'm in maintenance. This program is NOT about perfection but about learning how to make choices......(IMHO) I made a couple not as good choices, but all in all I did well. We had a lot of fun, and laughed a lot....took a lot of pictures, it was more than just food, so that was GREAT.
Now for the trip home, and back to "life"

Horray everybody! Mary and Gator, good attitudes in the reason for Thanksgiving and that you enjoyed the company #1. DH and I traveled to youngest DD's 2 1/2 hours away for her and a grad school classmate to host dinner, amazing food! I made my protein no bake and baked cookies and they decided that will be a staple in their diets now too. Also took a bunch of carbmaster's yogurt for DD since there isn't a store in the area there that carries it. Big paper due tomorrow evening so I'll be stuck to the computer, however when the Mizzou game comes on I'll have to go cheer on my Tigers team! Neighbors sometimes think DH and I are traders since I'm surrounded by KU fans!
Like I said in the past, you support the teams where your money has gone (tuition for oldest DD), and besides, they are a really great team. I enjoy what Coach Pinkle has done with the teams over the years. Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi all,
Had my first weigh-in and down 7.6! Just curious if anyone drinks the powdered international coffees? I had one on Thanksgiving and it was so good. The label says only 2 carbs and 30 calories so it sounds okay.

Thanks,
Barb

HI all--
I feel I need to to write this out ..so I can feel better...and I really do need some help and encouragement...
I joined MEdi in May and lost a total of 40lbs over the summer..School started and my life got crazy and I stopped going to medi--I gained 15lbs...It is so depressing...Things just got out of control. I have to stop using the excuse of my life being crazy, because it always is hectic..throw in Thanksgiving and my birthday and Halloween...excuses, excuses. I threw out all my big clothes and promised myself I wouldnt go back..now, I am feeling so bad about myself..I made an appointment to go back to medi on Dec 4..right before the holidays...I feel out of sorts...and I know this sounds stupid..I dont want to face the weigh in on the 4th because it will show them that I failed...Sorry to be such a downer.. i do not want to gain anymore.... help

Hi, everyone! I just returned from 2 weeks vacation in central Europe (Czech Republic, Austria, & Hungary). I did pretty well with food and exercise, but am up 4 pounds from my pre-vacation weight this morning.

I am considering this a victory as I did try all of the local delicacies including a few indulgences of local desserts and wine. I never deprived myself of an experience, though I usually kept it to just a bite or 2 (if it was something really good!) We did walk everywhere, lots of walking tours, lots of hiking. I also worked out a few times on our slower days.

Yesterday was a very long day. We flew out of Budapest late due to snow and missed our connecting flight out of Paris. We were awake for about 28 hours straight during which I ate about 7 full meals. It seemed like at every turn, I was eating yesterday, mostly because I wasn't sure when the next meal would be (like I was going to starve or something!?!) Too much food yesterday, dehydration, wine on the plane and no sleep all contributed to my weight gain today. I am back on week 1 today and assume the extra pounds will be gone with a day or 2 of diligence!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I am going to go continue to catch up on everything I missed here on the board.
