*~* Jazzed Up July with MWL *~*

Ok, here is the July thread. I go for my Week 6 weigh in today and I know it will be way better than last week! Hurricane Alex passed by here with heavy winds and tons of rain, but all in all not bad.

Hope everyone is getting ready for 4th of July weekend with something other than the regular junk food! Let's get this started!

Mom on a mission 07-01-2010 09:30 AM

Thanks for starting July's thread, Shelley. Glad the hurricane was not too much on you. I'm thankful I don't really have to deal with that type of weather up here in New England.

:kicking:HIT GOAL LAST WEEK!! :kicking: 87.4lbs in 25 weeks!! I've been so busy lately, haven't had time to post it. I'm transitioning into wellness at this point. A little scary adding some of my trigger foods back in, but I'm working through it!

Very nervous for a lot of traveling coming up though. Away for the weekend for daughter's softball tournament, one day home and off to Disney & Universal for 10 days with my family. home for 5 days, then on to Lake Winnipesaukee for a weekend, then to Hershey, PA for a week for more softball!! This summer will prove to a challenge. I'll just have to prepare and stay focused!! Wish me luck!

Let's make this July a great one!

SonoRoo 07-01-2010 09:47 AM

Momonamission, that is astounding! You've done so well and congrats for sticking with it!!!

mommy2princesses 07-01-2010 10:58 AM

Mom on a mission - congrats! I'm sure you'll do fine with all those upcoming trips...after 25 weeks of doing Medi, you have plenty of tips to help you succeed! Congrats again!

I feel like there were others to congratulate too from the end of hte June thread...and now I can't remember who! I'll have to re-read that thread!

Learned an important lesson today - the morning was really rushed around here and ate just yogurt for breakfast then proceeded to run a bunch of errands. Well, I had my younger daughter with me at the mall and I started getting really really light-headed...only to realize I had no snacks with me! No almonds, no protein bars, no nothing! Tried drinking some water, didn't help. I actually broke down and ate a small handful of her goldfish (I had 12 of them, I counted!) because I was getting dizzy and felt like I had the shakes. It definitely helped, but I felt so guilty. Ugh - teaches me to eat more in the morning and to make sure snacks are always with me. I'm guessing it was just a low blood-sugar thing since once I put a little food in me and it went away. I doubt its enough to knock me out of ketosis - but my lack of planning aggravated me! Lesson learned!

Congrats Momonamission! :kicking: You've done awesome and I'm sure you'll continue to do so in the next phase! Have fun on all of your trips! Say hi to the Mouse for me!

eptexy 07-01-2010 12:46 PM

Love those hard lessons, Keri! At least you stopped at 12! Not sure I could have!

CONGRATS Momonamission! Wonderful incredible news! 25 weeks... WOW!

Mom on a mission 07-01-2010 01:52 PM

Thanks everyone! It's been a really fantastic journey so far. My goal was to get to 160 by July 1st- did that by June 24th! Nothing better than setting a goal fir yourself and actually achieving it!!

After looking over my numbers at today's weigh in (.2lb loss) I noticed that I had lost 3.8lbs of fat, yippee. I did manage to gain 3.6lbs of water. No TOM in sight for a couple of weeks, so I can't blame it on that, darn!! I knew I hadn't done well "water-wise" this week. Proof is in the numbers, I guess!

GirlinJersey- I will give my best to Mickey for ya...

Fit2010 07-01-2010 03:08 PM

Mom on a mission ~ Wow! Congratulations! I remember when we both started the same week...you've done so well, girlfriend! Any tips for us who are getting "close" to getting there!? What helped with the final "PUSH"? I'm so happy for you....I hope you'll be checking with us lots and lots still! Horray for doing this by your goal date! You are an inspiration!

Jo - My June total loss was 6.7 lbs

lins 07-01-2010 03:20 PM

Momonamission we could all use your last minutes tips. I am 9.5lbs away from goal and I am feeling like I am not going to hit it. No reason to feel that way except my own personal doubts. I really want to go another 10lbs past that but I'm just not feeling it right now. I feel like I have lost some of my motivation....but I have not cheated. I should also mention that it is TOM for me, and I usually don't lose any that week. Weigh-in is tomorrow morning. My original goal was to be at my goal by July 24th, when I go to my family reunion, and I know that's still possible but I need to work hard. So any tips you or anyone has for that last 10lbs would be greatly appreciated!

tydreamer 07-01-2010 04:25 PM

momonamission - congratulations!! You have really made significant progress. I started in February and am only at 50+ pounds. You've given me hope that I'm going to make it! Celebrate!

mommy2princesses 07-01-2010 06:13 PM

Medi-gummies question - I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere with the search function....has anyone ever made them with crystal light? If so, is it a single size packet of crystal light OR the size to make an entire pitcher? I'm about to make another batch of the gummies right now (to get me through our weekend of day trips!) and was looking to experiment with flavors.

Pretty proud of myself with these gummies too - both my husband and 4 1/2 year old love them! However, DH better learn quickly that the entire batch is not meant to be eaten in 1 serving...he laughed when I told him I was going to bag them up in serving sizes to travel over the weekend...oh, someday his metabolism and 6'4'' frame will catch up with him!

-Keri

Fit2010 07-01-2010 07:01 PM

mommy2princesses - I would bet it's the size to make an entire pitcher (since the diet jello is to make 4 servings regular diet jello). Did you mix flavors? What flavors have you made? I only made them once so far and used orange flavored diet jello. I'm glad you and your family like them! (I didn't invent them....but remembered I'd seen them long ago and talked them up!)

Hi, Jo! Lost 8.6 lbs this month.

Hello, Everyone! Great job for all of you doing so well!

Slow going for me but still hanging in there. Will be in Philadelphia all next week for National Assoc. of the Deaf convention. So have made arrangements to have a fridge and microwave in my hotel room. Told them I am on dietary restriction. So I am bringing in turkey sausages, WW cheese sticks, EAS shake, tuna packets, and medi bars. I have a small insulated bag, so putting a "freeze pack" in it to keep my food cold while it is checked in with my suitcase. Then will transfer it to the fridge in the hotel room.

So planning my meals ahead, my goal is to eat breakfast and lunch with my food. Then for dinner, eating with friends to follow my Medi plan options as close as possible. Someone asked me if I am not going to try the Philly Cheese Steak, I said I would but just will NOT eat the bread so I can say "been there and done that". Smile!

Take care and will check the forum next week or so.

Congrats Marymo!! Your weight loss has been sensational! I bet those around you are so inspired and happy for you! Wow! And great planning on your trip...! Have fun :)

I'm so excited! I weighed this morning and I'm at 125. That means I can officially say I have lost an even 40 pounds on Medi!

Good for you Erin, you look fabulous!!! There's somehimg to be said for hitting that "even" number of loss! I'm shooting for another 2.4lbs so I can say 90lbs lost, it's a mental thing for me, I think.

Marymo- OUTSTANDING! I'm shooting for that beautiful 90lb avatar. You're truly inspiring!! Your life sounds so busy, I applaud you for keeping on plan so well!!!

As for anyone who was looking for tips in the last 10lbs lost, I wish I had some revealation yo share with you. My best advice is to stay focused. I found myself going back to week 1 food for 4 days during the week, then back to regular Medi eating for the other 3 days. I kept my exercise the same, water the same, etc. My biggest motivator was fitting into a pair of size 10 jeans from the Gap that I had bought way back in the beginning of my journey. I tried those darn things on once a week as motivation. Well, it worked. I fit into them the week before I hit goal. I haven't been a size 10 in anything for 20+ years! I'm hoping to lose 2.5 more to bring it to an even 90lbs lost. These last few pounds are liking me. This past week was frustrating because I lost 3.8lbs of fat but gained 3.6lbs of water, ugh! I wish I could blame it on TOM, but I can't. Maybe too much salt or too little water:confused:

Fit2010 07-02-2010 09:35 AM

Great advice Mom on a Mission - THANKS! I too am playing with the idea of the rounded/even #'s of weight loss being either 50 lbs or 55 lbs total (taking me to 140 or 135 respectively). We'll see what my body likes....right now I'm 8 lbs and 13 lbs respectively from those goals. It's amazing to me that I can still grab fistsfull of soft fat over parts of my lower abd, hips, upper thighs. I just don't want to be imbalanced and lose what I'm needing up top to look proportional....thus my signature statement below. Like I said, I'll never be a size 6.....possibly I'll get to 8's looking okay. Right now I'm in 10, 11, 12's depending on the style of pants. A huge bonus of the weight loss is that the huge "spare tire" has had all the air let out of it and is a very much smaller "muffin top" look! I think I lied to myself and previously really would have been a size 16, but I stuffed myself in lowrise 14's  and hid the "muffin top" with loose shirts. Reality check!!;)

It amazes me that I am 171.5 and wearing medium size 8. 12 is way too big. Could it be because I do weight training? Another 10 lbs and I would probably be a 6. I cannot recall ever being a 6 even at my skinniest. Each body is so different. I am 5 ft 6 inches.

Fit2010 07-02-2010 10:00 AM

I'm 5'4" and just wide in the hip bones I guess. I don't do much at all in weight training. I can grab fat, if I built muscle I'd just be putting it under the fat....so I'm trying to lose the fat! That's just my build though. After my two daughters (2 1/2 years apart) I worked hard each time to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 127 lbs, and was successful after hard work. After the 2nd one I kept at it trying to get into a certain size pants (size 8 23 years ago) and at 108 lbs could just fit in them, but my husband said "too skinny" and I regained up to 118 lbs and tried to stay there. My body previously stayed at 135 to 140 til I started 12 hour work shifts!

SonoRoo 07-02-2010 10:13 AM

EEP! I'm 5'1" and was wearing a 16 jun/misses. I am now comfortably in a 14 edging into a 12. All my weight is around the middle and it is this huge tire. At a normal weight I am figuring on a 2 or 4 which totally throws me since I haven't worn that size since I was 17. I keep thinking I'll never actually make it to that size, but each new size is a phenom to me. I've been heavy all my 20's and half my 30's. I don't want to be 35 and still fat. :(

Fit2010 07-02-2010 10:22 AM

Shelley, I'm very shortwaisted and square shaped. I have to live with what I'm given! I'll aim for healthy and see what my MWL doc says when I get to 140. :)

SonoRoo 07-02-2010 10:53 AM

Debbie, personally you are doing fabulous with all the curve balls sent your way! I think you're amazing and an inspiration!

I just say eep because I realize how much our weights vary with sizes due to height differences. It amazes me just how differently everyone carries weight.

lins 07-02-2010 12:15 PM

Everyone is just so inspirational for me!

All my worry this week due to TOM, and I was down -1.5lbs this week which puts me at 143! I am sooooooo close to the 130's I can't wait to see it!!!!!! 8lbs to my original "goal", bit 18 lbs to 125 which is my new goal. I'm only 5'1, and am currently in a size 8 pants, and size small shirt. :)

tydreamer 07-02-2010 03:46 PM

Lins, wahoo! Good for you! I know when I changed my goal (originally 160), I felt good about it at first, then saw it in my stats and felt like I had so far to go still. Truth is, I still do, but I'm still confident I'll get there.

I'm feeling better today, tho not quite as good as I could. I didn't work out yesterday or today, but I think I'll try to go for at least a short, hard walk tonite. More about making SOMETHING happen than truly working out. I don't want to go two days without ANY activity.

Ash347 07-03-2010 04:32 AM

Good Morning!
way to go with your losses everyone! its so awesome and motivating!

I weighed in this week and lost 4 lbs.. thank goodness! Since last week was TOM and i didnt lose any. Its good to know that the effort is working! :)
You all are so inspiring! I plan to start walking on the treadmill soon.. but i am so tired when i get home from work, do most of you work out in the morning?
<3

tydreamer 07-03-2010 05:23 AM

I got on the scale this morning and I'm up. My scale weighs me pretty close to the Medi scale (within a pound) so I'm wondering what's up with that. I've been sick, and in fact, feel worse today than I did yesterday. My whole abdomen feels tender like it did when this whole thing came on. That does not make me happy just because it's miserable. But it might make me happy if there was some inflamatin due to the UTI and THAT'S what was being reflected on the scale. ??

Ashley - I normally work out when I get home from work at 1:00 - but I only work part time. I've been on vacation this week and WAS hitting it first thing in the morning and I have to say, I REALLY like that! There's something pretty satisfying about having your workout done by 8:00 a.m. But then I got sick and haven't done anything in a couple of days. Hopefully today!

lins 07-03-2010 06:38 AM

I ran my second 5K this morning in 35:27, which is 2 minutes faster than my previous 5K! Feeling great this morning!

tydreamer 07-03-2010 11:47 AM

Lins, WOW! Congrats on beating your own record this morning! You'll be on cloud nine for a while!

I made a TON of Medi gummies. The more batches I made, the less exact I got till the last one probably had at least 1 1/2 cups of water - which of course made a whole lot more. I got to the point of using my blender stick thing and dumping all four packages of the unflavored (pouring slowly was taking too long) in at once. It worked really fast and they all came out great.

Anyway, I made orange, lime, black cherry and raspberry. You should see the size of this tupperware thing I had to put them all in!! My goal this week is to ONLY snack on those. Not the almonds or the Fishies or the Atkins bars or whatever. I'm up on the scale today, STILL haven't worked out, still don't FEEL like working out, and wrote out my menu for the next full week. I changed my goal weight to 148 and from my scale this morning, that's 10 pounds. Hopefully some of this is water retention and inflammation and whatever else. I'm ready to knock this out!!

New to MEDI...

Hello, I am on week one, day 4! I think this is the hardest thing I have done. Love the site though!

Sunflower531 07-03-2010 12:12 PM

tydreamer, I'm very excited to see another from KS. When we get to our ideal weight, can we eat pizza again, or is that gone forever?
