Just FYI, everyone - medi's website has some nice upgrades to it! Especially the recipe section! I say we all start submitting some of these recipes on this forum to have them all in one place. REALLY user-friendly!

At the same time, I don't mind eating my salad without dressing either. Weird, I know. OR you can just dip your fork in a vinaigrette before each bite. It's not that many calories at all at that amount. I maybe end up using a teaspoon if that. You can also ask for red wine vinegar.

Re: C25K - I carry 2 timers on my jog/walk....one is set for 2 mins 20 sec/other set for 1 min....when one goes off I turn the other on....that's how I do it.
Keri - I pour 2 Tbsp of my salad drsg into a snack sized baggie, double bag it and carry with me in my purse...then I just tear off a corner and squirt it on my salad!

Jerry!!!! So glad you wrote! Congratulations on maintaining and being such a great example! How are things on the "other side of the pond?!" I took a glance at the website you referenced for recipes on your blog....I will definitely use that. I'm getting close to needing to think about how to add carbs smarter on a more permanent basis with varying food choices, and having insulin resistance that site is VERY pertinent! Thanks friend!! Wish you could have been with Lea and I when we met Tues for lunch. Definitely the three of us will have to get together sometime before the Race for the Cure....!!!! So glad you are checking in!

Week 3 help!
I'm on week 3 of medi and love it. But I am a tiny bit concerned. I lost 9.8lbs week one, .06 week 2 and only 1lb week 3! what could be goin wrong?? My clinic isnt very helpful all the nutritionist keeps telling me is that everyone looses at their own pace. it is very hard for me to be on such a restricted diet with a slow paced loss. I'm not looking for 5lb a week but 2 would be great. I am well in my 5oo protein calories a day as well as my 2 veggies or one fruit. any thoughts would be great....

Question about adding back in calories for activity. My clinic has never really mentioned this but I have heard many people on here talk about it. I am still staying at 500-600 calories a day even on days that I run 3-4 miles in 90 degree weather I am well hydrated, I don't feel bad, I am no longer on an AS ect.. But I am a little concerned that I should be eatting a little bit more on days that I run. But on the other hand I am afraid that, I am playing a mind game and just talking myself into eatting more....kwim? I would still eat Medi-friendly food, but I am just curious about what your option on this is?
I go for weith-in tomorrow and I will mention it to them also, I just wanted your thoughts too.

FYI - I made the Portabella Mushroom Pizza from the Medi website tonight....MMMM, so good! I was making pizza for my girls, and I had that. I think its one of those meals that might become a weekly staple! Loved it! And the best part - it was so simple!

SugarMommyCupcake: You had such a tremendous loss the first week, it seems that your body is just recovering from the shock!
Keep to the program, and see what happens this week. If you don't have much of a loss, press your clinic to help you figure out why. Just asking: are you exercising?Jerry: Congratulations on the Medi Living cover and article! You are amazing and inspire us all. Re: salad dressing packets. I read in Medi Living (the one with Jerry's picture on the cover), page 9, that Medi is coming out with its own line of salad dressing packets (Parmesan Peppercorn, Sesame Ginger) and a dipping sauce (Hot & Sour). Anyone's clinic have them yet? Confession: sometimes when I am feeling really sleepy and draggy in the morning (I get up at 5:20 for work), I pop an AS to "wake up", since I'm not having caffeine. Does anyone else do this? It works, but I'm afraid I'll get hooked on using them that way. Oh no! Need a 12-step program to get off of AS!! ![]() Sorry this is so long. At work, all I can do is read this on my breaks. Can't post on the work computers, so I have to save up! |

HA! When I walked in and saw the new issue... "It's about time!" I've been going to Medi since late March and this is only the second issue I've seen. Wish we could get the older issues.

Ok so figure this one out - I'm away for 5 days of cannoli, lobster, italian food, wine, etc. and don't gain an ounce. Spend a full day eating medi-friendly stuff and drinking water. Wake up this morning 2 lbs heavier.
My body is taunting, laughing, and pointing at me!!!!!!! |

~Cupcake~I would suggest posting your stats with your starting weight/current weight/goal weight as a beginning point. That way we can celebrate your losses with you. If you have only a little to lose - meaning 20-40 pounds, your loss will be far slower than someone like myself who had over 100 pounds to lose. Each person is different but a 1-2 pound weight loss per week is usual though it can be less or more. It totally depends on how faithfully you follow the program, eating what you are supposed to eat, journaling everything that goes in your mouth (and I do mean everything), and drinking 128 oz of water a day.....along with exercise to your ability level.
I will use myself as an example. I stayed on program all the way through and even now in maintenance journal everything that goes in my mouth. I started out walking a mile a day and now I am up to 6-7 miles a day - every day - without fail. If it too hot at 9am, then I hit the treadmill. I live in Phoenix AZ and it is already 98 out there. I am headed out as soon as I post this. I will walk for about 2 hours to complete the six miles. I walk for stamina and endurance in the heat, most certainly not for speed. If I walk for speed, I walk very very early in the morning and walk about a 9 minute mile at that time of day. You have to really want to do this for yourself, for your health, and for your life. You truly must commit 100%. I wish you well. Jo

Down 1lb this week to 142. I REALLY want to see the 130's now.
I asked about the adding more protein calories when I run and she said on days that I run 4+ miles I should be up to around 700 calories. |

Lins, great news!!! I was 152 on my scale this morning and I want to see the 140's! When I started Medi, my goal was 160. I never thought I'd see theh 140's, but I really do think it's going to happen. We are so close!!!

I am so confused and hope someone can answer my question. I am on week 6, down 20 pounds, and this past week was 3 pound loss, none of it was fat. The NP told me it was because I am not eating enough and I should be up to 800 calories at this stage. I have never heard anything about 800 calories. All I have known up to this point was 500 calories plus 2 veggies or 1 veggies/1 fruit to equal 600. I didn't question her on it because I thought I didn't read my materials correctly, so I came home, read the book inside out, and still don't see anything about 800 calories. What is she talking about??
Also, do you know if it is possible to switch clinics to another location without paying for the initial consulatation again? Seems like this one is not too well-trained. Or can I go back and forth to different clinics? |

That being said, there were several times where the tanita scale said I was up in fat and down in water or vice versa. The next weigh in showed it all evening out. Those scales are very sensitive but the only true weigh to accurately measure those types of things is in a submersion tank. I did take those things into consideration because it's hard not to but for the most part, to me a loss was a loss. As far as switching, I do believe that there is a fee of some sort if you want to switch. At least there is with my clinic. |

That's why I have yet to try it. There is SO much water in those mushrooms. I would think it would depend on how thick it was. I was thinking I'd cook it waaay down first or even cut it down the center to make two?
