Here's my latest. I was down another 3 pounds this morning brining me to 3 pounds short of my goal. The nurse I talked to today said that my WEIGHT should no longer be my focus because it's already low enough. And I said I really wanted my RANGE to be 140 to 145. She said that because my BMI is at 21 now and that's healthy, not to worry so much about LOSING any more but that if I wanted to work on fat percentage, that would be a better area to focus. She also said to go ahead and stay in acute while making this shift, but to up my calories some anyway. I told her I've really been eating around 800 to 1,000 a day and she said that was fine. Probably my goal will be around 750, but knowing I can go over will help. I'm ready to just lose the last three, hit the 145 mark on the scale, start adding back foods and concentrate on muscle building and resistance training, continue my daily cardio, and hopefully the fat percentage will change. If I don't actually lose any more weight in that scenario, that'll be okay. But I still want to see some slight changes in my body.
I want to say thank you to everyone on this site for your well wishes, inspiration, motivation, tips, laughs, links, suggestions and stories. I would NOT be this close if it weren't for all of you. I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you! ![]()

Lea~Congratulations to you!
You are at the same point I was at about this time last year. After I went into Maintenance/Wellness, I did lost a few pounds but that became my lo/hi template. My BMI has stayed relatively the same, varying only by about 0.10 or so, but my fat percentage has dropped consistently to where it is now. And that is all good. I am concentrating more on building stamina and endurance than weight loss in my walking and other workouts now. And fortunately, it appears to be working. Some people think I have lost more weight when I have not but I HAVE "redistributed the wealth"!Jo

Well I'm finally feeling better and have started today again eating on Week 1. The last week has been miserable! My doctor called me today and said that I don't have mono
(thank god!) and that it must be just a virus. I feel so bloated and just blah. I know most of it is because of all the sodium I must have consumed in soup, and the carbs in the crackers and toast. I woke up today feeling better so I went ahead with eating just protein. Hopefully a few days of that will kick me back on track and help me get rid of this bloat!Had to cancel my appointment this week because I wasn't up to it, so hopefully next week's weigh in won't be too scary! ![]() Hope everyone's having a good day and week! Keep up the good work my friends! ![]()

Interesting reading how people have been affected in past couple days with headaches. Mine was so bad during the night and woke me in EARLY am about 6-7 times with trips to the bathroom til all I had left was dry heaves. I'm hoping for a cure for all this sinus craziness. My allergist has a plan (I just know it down the road) to get me off processed foods and milk products (yikes!-my Protein Bars/Jay Robb protein/string cheese/cottage cheese/carbmaster's yogurt/turkey pepperoni/chicken sausage/Nutrasweet!/Route 44 diet Sprite w/strawberries!!!). I can do it. But I'm not ready to WANT to do it yet!

Keri-I think you had asked about the BP. I'm glad you checked your records with MWL. I have low BP also, even at 90 systolic is ok if you feel ok.
Lea-You are doing so super, girlfriend! Home scales past few AM's have had me about 144.3-144.7 lbs. Yesterday gave away a bunch of clothes to friends. Feels so great! One friend has transitioned from 16 and now getting into 14, so an easy hand off to her....told to keep going and maybe in a month or so I'll get into the 10's and she can have my 12s. (Wishful thinking with my hip structure). She had given her larger clothes away....I think it's smart to not having them there for yo-yo cushion. The difference is we know what to really do now, it's not water and muscle loss weight...it's fat loss! Thank you Jo, McBoo, and Susie for still checking in so much. We appreciate your experience and helpful guideline reminders. ![]() Last edited by Fit2010; 07-28-2010 at 03:56 PM.. |

Lea, you're awesome!
I think it's funny that I weigh about what you do, and I am 6 inches shorter! You must be so slender, tall and willowy.Weigh-in today: down another 2.6 lbs and another 1.5 lbs of fat! Finally PASSED THE 20-LB MARK, for the first time in years. All you beautiful young girls out there: it is VERY hard to lose weight after age 50 (yeah, I didn't believe it, either). This plan works, but lose it and keep it off now. Debbie, can't the allergist just give you a shot and leave your good Medi-plan foods alone? ![]() Rochelle, so glad you're feeling better. Sorry everybody is having such headaches and illness. Question: my clinic told me today that I can have 30-40 grams of carbs per day. That seems like a lot for acute! She also told me to count total carbs, not net carbs, even on the Medi bars. What have others been told? |

I went through my stuff today, and I have a pair of BRAND new pair of size 12 petite jeans that are HUGE on me now. I couldn't wear them last fall because they were too tight on my. Now I can't wear them becasue they are too big on me. That is just crazy to me. I am pretty solidly in a size 8 now, but really want to get in a size 6. I have 10-15 more pounds to go.......but I ate a little too much today. Around 750 calores, all protein. I was planning on running tonight, but then it rained, so I will get on my Gazelle after the kids are in bed.

Im down 1.something this week. I am going on week 1 food for the week to try to push under 140. This will be my last week on an appetite suppressent which scares me. Debbie -- we are almost the same weight right now, kinda going along this journey together |

OK Ortal, I hear that challenge reminder push! I need to stop my pitiful self-pity indulgences in eating.
Nancy - I went through blood testing by allergist (who is also an ENT) to check allergies 9 years ago and allergist had custom made allergy sublingual drops that I did daily for 3 years. That cut the symptoms down about 40%. But after we moved about 5 years ago, I now drive about 20 miles past some fields that I'm allergic to (milo) and other things, and my mold allergies have gotten worse when it rains, I'm not far from a lake and wonder if that has something to do with it. Anyway, I repeated allergy drops for about 4 months 4 years ago and then gave up and stopped seeing him. But, most everything he said has come true--my immune system has been made weaker from simple sugars which lead to weight gain which lead to insulin resistance which lead to more medicines, more inflammation, etc. I omitted stuff in the past on his plan but it was so hard to be a cheer mom and be at games and work and so on (all that every other person on this site is doing now). Now I'm healthier but still have to get my immune system stronger, allergy drops are no longer the answer, it's getting to be diet now. So maintenance for me will be complex with medi + diabetes control fewer fruits + allergy doc restrictions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yup, Im going to float away or explode in a tidal wave of power ade zero
So this week Im on a self-imposed push to get under 140. I neeeeed to. I also want to eat cleaner and stop with all the bars and fake crap Ive been wasting my calories with. The clinician is skeptical, shes like you dont need it, but I know personally my motivation isnt where it used to be and I need to readjust to get to goal. This morning I had some egg whites and some canned chicken (my new thing... yum). I hope that fills me untill lunch Have a great day everyone

150 on the home scale this morning.
![]() I woke up at 4:00 - kinda typical for me - and I was so hungry by 5:30 that I had a yogurt. Then around 8:00 I had a protein shake (after reading some of the threads and recipes) and it has already worn off! My stomach is growling and I'm starving! I don't leave work till noon so I've got three hours. I DO have an EAS shake in the fridge for emergencies. Today might be an emergency!! I better stick with my eggs and turkey sausage for breakfast and save the shakes for snacks! |

I got off to a LATE start today, waiting for my DH to wake up. We did our 3 miles (mainly brisk walking) today at 9:00.....WAY to hot outside by then. I had already had 44 oz of plain water, and 2 oopsie rolls prior to heading out. We take water with us, but I still wasn't sweating much towards the end.......I couldn't get my clothes off fast enough to jump in the pool! I think the heat really took it's tole on me today.

I just made the creamy coleslaw off the Medi website recipes...here's hoping its good! That with hotdogs is dinner tonight!
Its so humid today - haven't walked yet, think I'll wait and use the treadmill tonight. I think I'm going to look at some gyms next week...I'm getting bored with walking, need to throw some other things in too. My goal is to join a gym soon so that my 2 girls can do the childcare program together before the oldest starts kindergarten. I'm thinking this will be the easiest way to transition the 2 yr. old into any kind of childcare program! No need to hear my kid screaming while doing cardio! :-)

Sleeeeeeeepy. Working the early shift is not pleasant and I tend to crash in the afternoon when I get home and sleep. I haven't been exercising this week much and I feel it. I had them give me both shots today just for some energy. I'll be so glad for Sunday when I can get some real sleep and relaxation.
Hope everyone is doing well. Miss you guys. I'm sticking with it and past the plateau. |

Hi, Everybody! Just posted a new avatar, a thinner me! Did not have a chance almost all month to get on this forum. I went to Philadephia for a week-long vacation for a National Assoc. of the Deaf Conference during 4th of July week. Had a blast!
I have been busy sprucing my house up as my older sister will be moving in with me in a month or so. I am also on a special work project at my job. So that does not leave me any time to get on the computer. But I am doing great and so thrilled that I am under 200 lbs for the first time in over 15 years! Feeling great, and am no longer taking my one of my blood pressure meds and one more to go! Doctor is so proud of me! So keep up the good work, do NOT and I repeat do NOTgive up! It is all so worth it! Love ya, guys and gals! Will try to stay in touch! Take care and stay cool!

I am having a hard time finding motivation after coming home from vacation. Not that I ate bad on vacation AT ALL, but I find myself wanting to snack all day long. TOM arrived too so that doesn't help. I am snacking on protein but going over on calories. The scale is holding at 140 so that's a good thing. I ran 2 miles last night and will go again tonight. Saying a prayer that I can stop snacking......

woohoo!!! I've been in size 16W jeans for years. I ordered some jeans in a 15 juniors and they sent 13 juniors. I tried on my old jeans and had to clear out all the 16s and all that was left was the 13 juniors. I tried them on this morning and they fit, and fit well! No top rolling down, no obscene muffin top rolls. I think things like that make all the difference in the world as far as motivation goes. I LOVE MWL!!!

Sigh...I just got done with my weekly follow up. No total weight loss this week. I knew this was going to happen sooner or later. I did, however, still lose a pound of fat which brought my fat percentage down by .8 %. I gained two pounds of FFM, one and a half of which is water that I knew I was retaining and I'm also "stopped up" a little. So all and all, I can't say I'm surprised. I'm happy that my fat is consistently going down.
