Protein bars that taste good but not too many calories?
Anyone have any suggestions.. I have the atkins nut chew ones and OMG!! They are amazing but.... They are 170 calories.. I am looking for ones that are a little less in calories but still taste good... thanks..

I have several different kinds of the Adkins bars. I like to keep a variety of flavors and calories so I can get the one that fits my needs at the moment. If I eat one in the morning, I choose a lower calorie variety but I've had one for 'dinner" a few times when I am super busy and then I get the higher calorie one. I love them all!

make SURREEEE with the atkins bar you check the net carbs!! Make sure its actually carbs-(fiber + sugar alcohols). many of them do NOT follow this formula.

personally, I think its easier to have more than one thread. I mean we have what, 10 active threads at a time? Thats not too bad ... Instead of sifting through the June one (which I read anyways) sometimes its easier to ask a question directly. But thats just my 2 cents

I found Chocolite Protein Bars at the D'Lites in Gainesville, FL while I was in the area. The bars are soooo good and only have 100 or so each. They are a pretty decent size as well.
The peanut butter protein bar has 100 calories, 17 grams of carbohydrate (10 grams of fiber & 4 grams of sugar alcohol, with 9 grams of protein. I also recommend their candy. I just had a pecan cluster for 30 calories (8 carbs with 6 fiber and 1 sugar alcohol.) I am in maintenance, so YMMV! |

Debi - I just bought the Special K Protein Snack bars....its chocolate peanut butter - they are 110 calories, 15 grams of carbs. Had one this AM for breakfast - it was really good (they felt soft in the cabinet, so I threw it in the freezer for a few minutes...it was so good, like a frozen snickers).
I always think the Atkins ones that I see are too high in carbs, so I haven't tried those. I feel like I've searched everywhere for some good tasting ones (the Medi ones are OK, but I REALLY struggle trying to get them down). I've checked Trader Joe's, Stop n Shop, Target, Wal-Mart....very interested to see if you find any good ones since we're both in RI! Which clinic do you go to? Cranston or Johnston?

mommy2princesses,
I actually go to the one in Plainville, MA.. My dental hygienist referred me and they really are great there! I get a military discount there and they also told me if I have a really hard time paying, talk to them before quitting as they can work something out (my hygienist did that and now she only goes every other week still in acute... She only pay's $56 each time she goes also) I will keep my eye out and let you know if I find any.. I really love the taste of the atkins ones though... I only have them once and a while and they haven't knocked me out of ketosis yet so we shall see...
