This thread has a lot of info about the Miracle Noodles:

Cream of Tartar is a white powder sold in the spice section of most grocery stores.
I am SO glad to finally have those "Miracle Noodles" out of my system. I have bought them and tried different things. They range from SO GODAWFUL to "hey, this isn't bad enough to make me sick! Great!" If you find them in the store, you might try them, but honestly, I think more people hate them than can tolerate them, so don't feel too bad that you are missing out on something great. |
RAVEN!! You speak SACRILEGE!!!!!!!
Honestly, though, if you have had rice noodles before then that is what shiritaki are like but wetter and more chewy. they make great asian dishes, I don't think they make passable italian dishes as it is nothing like pasta at all. Cream of Tartar is with the other spices, usually in a tiny jar. I also like to use Xanthan Gum thickener to help stabilize my whites, I use about 1/8 t per batch. One bag of Xanthan gum costs like $12 but has lasted me almost 5 years, and its so worth it. But if you are a good whipper of whites, you can do without it. Just Keep Beating! It helps if you add a pinch of salt to the whites before you start to whip. just FYI. SACRILEGE!!!!:p |
I tolerate them... they are a great 'oh i only have 50 calories left for dinner' meal. I usually put them in chicken broth or in stir fry. Actually my dad and I auto-order 20 a month that we split. They are good to have around.

I LOVE those noodles! I just posted my Chicken & Noodles Soup pics on the "Induction Food Porn" thread. LOL I found them at Whole Foods, HyVee and Bakers grocery stores.

I could not find that Susie'd advice - can you point me where I can find that? Thank you. |
I cannot find the actual specifics on what Susie does to the noodles to prepare them, and she is in Italy at the moment, I think, so I cannot ask her right now. Try running through the thread below and see if it is any help.
