Today is my birthday and I am staying on the Medi diet. I debated having a special treat tonight, but I just decided not too. As of this morning on my home scale (I got on Friday for weigh-in), I only hae 8lbs to hit goal, so it's just not worth it at this time. I am however going out for a steak dinner so I still get to enjoy my night! It's been a very emotional few days with my hubby (he forgot Mother's Day this year, and our 10 year, and he planned nothing for my 30th birthday...no card or gift). I finally had enough of feeling unappreciated and just told him he was taking me out to dinner. I will probably make him take me clothes shopping too. We are on our way to pick up my Mother-n-law in a bit. It's not been the greatest birthday as far as feeling loved, but it has because I feel great about myself.

I'm sorry, Lins. Happy birthday though! It's YOUR day so don't let anyone take that from you. I'm infamous for calling hubby to thank him for the flowers he sent me - that I ordered. LOL Sometimes a girl just has to take care of herself when she marries a guy that doesn't think.

Happy Birthday Lins! I agree - "me to me" gifts are always the best, somehow I always know exactly what I wanted! And in your case...I'm guessing some "almost at my goal weight" clothes would be great!! Hope you have a wonderful night out!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It ended up being a better day than it started out to be. My hubby did get me a card and he said that he wants to order me a picture for our new house (we moved 4 months ago) from our favorite artist, so that will be nice. He didn't get it yet because he wants me to pick out the one I want.
Then after dinner (and my yummy steak) we went to walk around the mall a bit and Old Navy was having a HUGE sale. So I bought $60 worth of clothes, which doesn't sound like a lot but several of the tank tops were $3-4 a peice. Oh and even better than that was that they were ALL in a size small, including a skirt, and a dress. I couldn't belive that I could fit into the small!!!!!! |

Oh boy - have I found a major weakness that I now have....I bought green grapes yesterday. Brought them home, washed them, pulled them all off the stems and have them loose in a bowl in the refrigerator. Aagghh - every time I go in the kitchen I end up eating one!! They are sooo cold, and its so hot/humid here today....I ended up counting it as a serving of fruit for today. Now I need to stop! With 2 kids I am in the kitchen a lot - their drinks, snacks, MY water! Guess I won't be buying grapes again anytime soon....just glad I bought a small bag of them!!
At least I've traded vices...before it would have been cookies/crackers/or anything sweet....now its fruit! Now I'm afraid to cut up the 1/2 watermelon that I bought for the kids!! I know eating the fruit isn't THAT bad, but its the old habit of picking while in the kitchen...must stop!!! Guess I'll be walking longer tonight on the treadmill....just put lemon slices in my water, hopefully that will take care of the fruit cravings! -Keri

It's funny - I also find myself thinking about fruit as I used to think about cookies, chocolates (like "cheating"). Just a thought that this "good" stuff will make you fall out of ketosis

Keri - go with berries - they are great frozen and allowed - they also never kicked me out of ketosis. I throw a few frozen into a greek yogurt (Fage) and I am so happy and satisfied... It's good to know what you can eat - grapes are super high sugar...

Ya eek - no grapes for me either. They are on the DO NOT BUY list! lol
Love frozen blueberries but even those are high in carbs and a little scary for me. I have very small servings. They rock in yogurt like Macauley said and also in smoothies! |

I havent really had fruit since I started medi... i was never huge on it and Id rather use my two servings on veggies that are more filling. i LOVE green grapes and i know I wouldnt be able to keep them around the house.
I just put an order from netrition... Im going to make PB cups Guar Gum Powder (for baking) Walden chocolate dip (which i hear is way better than the sauce) PB2 (heard great things!) Chocolate almond breeze. Any suggestions ladies/gents? I am really getting into cooking/baking/being creative/experimenting in the kitchen and Id love any feedback. Tonight I am attempting low carb fudge. I just need to learn portion control because I dont want to spend all this time making it and then bring it all to work like I normally do. |

So good to know I'm not the only one with the fruit....I should've known fruit would end up being a weakness once the heat hit! I have ALWAYS loved fruit - my usual summer breakfast is always fruit with yogurt and granola. Love, love, love it (and really miss it too!). I love going to the local farms and getting fresh fruit...however, since doing MWL I have had fruit now maybe 4 or 5 times (never been out of ketosis, but usually dont want to give up that many carbs to 1 serving of something!).
I think part of wanting them was that I chaperoned my daughters field trip to the movies today (Toy Story 3 - soo good!) and didn't drink much water - so the grapes were filling in for being thirsty. Now that I've been home and getting my water in, I don't seem to be wanting the grapes - that, and I've acknowledged what I was doing and am now consciously NOT doing it. Has anyone tried adding protein powder to vanilla yogurt as a little added protein? I have the chocolate powder and HATE the shakes - no matter how I mix them or add to them. -Keri |

I don't really eat fruit because I know that once I start I won't stop. I eat two servings of Veggies instead, more filling, and less likely to make me go overboard.
I forgot to take my AS today. I've done it before, but it's 4 p.m. and I am having some major cravings. I ate a Laughing cow cheese wedge and downed some water so hopefully that will help. We're grilling tonight and I'm already looking forward to it. I am having Chicken Sausage which is my new favorite! |

Hello everyone - I'm new and have posted on some other threads and gotten some great info. I'm trying to do this diet on my own with a phentermine perscription from my Dr. I had another question I wonder if anyone could answer... I know calories, sugar and carbs all need to be monitored closley- just wondering if total fat grams matters?

so I made these finally, after putting it off for so long:
Sugar-Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge - Easy Sugar-Free Fudge Recipe to DIE for. I only used 3/4 cup of the sugar alcohol.... the recipe is also very thick and hard to stir. Another tip, dont leave it in the fridge too long or itll harden to the point where it is hard to get off the glass. but they taste delicious and I cut them into 24, not 18. They are small and sweet and thats enough for me. |

I feel better and not so out of control as I felt the other day. I hope everyone else hass a wonderful day and things turn out the way you all wish! |

Way to go with the 4 lbs! That is so awesome! I had the opposite situation. I was up one lb and up 6 lbs water! I hope its due to tom because this is soo discouraging!
