Products: Good and Bad
I have been searching the forums trying to figure out what I need to buy from netrition.com now that I've been to all the stores. So I thought a thread listing our favorite and not so favorite products was in order.
Today I tried PB2 and it works great. I blending PB2 with Walden Farms chocolate dip -- like having a PB chocolate treat. I also can't find any SF sauces in my store -- so I need to order one from netrition, but I am having a hard time knowing what brands are good and OK. Bella Vita was mentioned just once -- is that MWL approved? Look forward to hearing your faves.

I have found everything and then some at Trader Joes, Kroger's (Fry's locally) and Safeway. I have not found it necessary to order online items. I definitely prefer to purchase locally and avoid shipping costs.

Hey there! Looking forward to what people post on this thread, I could use some new ideas!
The one sauce that I have tried and really liked so far is the "Westbrae Natural Vegetarian Ketchup: Unsweetened". It tastes just like real ketchup! I found my bottle at Whole Foods, but if you don't have one near you I bet you could find it online. Also, I make my own ranch dip by mixing a packet of the Ranch seasoning with a 16 oz. container of Fat Free Plain Greek yogurt. It is awesome to dip celery sticks in or put on salad. Thanks for starting this thread, I would always rather try something based on a recommendation vs. guessing on my own!

Great idea for a thread! I like many of the Walden Farms products, especially the pancake syrup and the chocolate syrup. The chocolate syrup is really good in the unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze.
Funny thing though... the pancake syrup claims to be calorie free, sugar free, carb free, cholesterol free, gluten free and preservative free. Then what the heck is in it??? I also love D'lites Emporium low carb ice cream. |

Has anyone tried the dessert dips? I haven't seen any WF products in my grocer except the chocolate dip and then the caramel dip. Even if I got it, I'm not sure what I would do with it? |

I bought two of the walden farms dressings and the ketchup and they are terrible. Just tasteless and have a yicky texture.
I really like the herbrew national hot dogs for a "normal" treat every once in awhile. |

If you have a Dillons or Kroger store around I like the Kroger brand CarbMaster's yogurts, easy breakfast, high protein, satisfy me!
Also at Walmart I found the best price for Pure Protein Peanut Butter & Chocolate bars, 200 calories, 20 g protein, 16 carbs but I eat 1/2 for an alternative breakfast and eat the other 1/2 later in the day. Chewy and lasts like a candy bar. Fills me up, satisfies the chewing, and tastes best of any protein bar I've seen with the most protein! Also at Walmart I found the best price for Atkins Mocha Latte Shakes.

The Atkins Bars are awesome! Just have to read the labels. I get the chewy caramel ones with the peanuts for 130 calories. Tastes like a snickers bar!

I love the Walden Farms maple syrup with Jimmy Dean turkey sausage. I also have BNRG Power Crunch bars that I will normally eat half pre-workout with fruit and the have an ISO 100 shake with Almond Breeze for post workout. The Power Crunch bars are 200cals,10carbs, with 13gr protein and the vanilla ISO 100 powder is 106cals, 0carbs with 25gr protein. Those are my loves and must haves.

Tried the Pure Protein chocolate peanut butter that many rave about. Wasn't a fan. But I've seen people say they don't like products I like.
Also tried Jay Robb's egg white protein strawberry. Didn't like it. Couldn't drink more than a couple of sips. EAS Myoplex Carb Control powder mix Vanilla Cream tasted like sugar substitute and bitter. Chocolate Cream was more tolerable, but could barely finish it. Thank goodness the store had these in individual packets to try. Wish more stores would do this for more products so we don't waste money like we did with the EAS 100% Whey Protein Powder Chocolate. Bought a big bag and didn't like it. I thought I would because I like their AdvantEdge drinks. I drink SmartWater for electrolytes... but I read the nutrition facts and researched it online. I am wondering if it really has much. I don't like the zero calorie drinks. The only one I like so far is the Crystal Light Fitness, but it has 30 calories in one pack (16.9oz bottle) and 6g carbs. Oh, and Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup is also yummy with Cool Whip Lite. |

Have you tried Diet Snapple Hydration singles to go? It only has 10 calories and 2g of carbs per packet mixed in 16.9 oz of water. Sometimes I mix it with 20oz of water for a milder flavor. I love it and have it in the morning with my breakfast which gives me a good start with my water intake. The only problem is I have a hard time finding them! I can only find the Fruit Punch Hydration packs at A&P and when I do, I clear the shelf because I never know when I will find them again.

I have no problem getting my water. Getting electrolytes is another story. Will have to look for the Diet Snapple as Determined Gemini suggested. |

I buy a variety of lowcarb items -- from DaVinci bottles to almond and coconut meal to tons of supplements and more -- but I get nearly everything from netrition.com -- as for shipping, if you're in the continental US it's only 4.95 flat rate! Even if there's a bunch of heavy bottles and cans! -- it's actually awesome. The only thing I tend to buy locally that is a specialty item is Truvia. We have a super walmart, but not much else, and SWM doesn't carry much in my town.

I have two Torani bottles (chocolate and vanilla) and cannot figure out what to do with them. I did try them in coffee. They were OK, but I didn't want to add almond milk or creamer because I don't really want to drink my calories (except in EAS-like shakes). I've looked on Torani's web site, DaVinci's and here... but am puzzled.

I have the Davinci's Hazelnut and Khalua flavors. I take a 20 oz. water bottle, add 8 oz. almond milk, one scoop of vanilla protein powder, two packets of splenda, and a tsp. of either hazelnut or khalua syrup. Then I fill the rest up with water and shake until blended. It has great flavor, only 160 cals. and 3 g net carbs plus the bottle is a little bigger so I am getting more water and I have a "fuller" feeling. The powdered protein is so much cheaper to buy than the premade shakes, but usually you are supposed to blend with 8 oz. liquid, and that's just not enough food for me! So I came up with this way to stretch it a little bit.

Thanks, kristenb. What powdered protein do you recommend? Everyone else -- what do you recommend for powdered protein, too? They come in such big boxes -- that I don't want to spend the money only to find out it's blah.

I love the PVL Whey Gourmet Peanut Butter Chocolate protein powder. If you are a peanut butter fan, this completely hits the spot. I add a couple of tablespoons of Walden Farms chocolate syrup, 1.5 teaspoons of xanthan gum, 2 cups of ice, and 2 cups of water for an enormous thick shake @ 120 calories and 3 grams of net carbs. The xanthan gum is key to make a protein shake thick and have the mouth feel of a real shake.
The Whey Gourmet chocolate is also good, but has 4 grams of net carbs. |

I use the Gold Standard 100% Whey in the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor. For me, it's a good base that I can work off of. I use sugar free syrups and flavorings to make the specific flavor I want, that way I'm not stuck with strawberry or peanut butter all the time, I can change it up. I also like it because I don't need a blender. I can shake it in a water bottle and it is SUPER smooth, not clumpy or gritty at all, and I am pretty picky!

I've been told that the Atkins bars are a great meal replacement but to stay away from the Endulge and just eat the Advantage. Does anyone have any idea why?

I tried the choclate delight Medi bars for the first time yesterday and they are really good. I was very excited to have something that is portable, and that is chocolate for those craving days. I will limit them to twice a week, but I can tell they are going to be very useful.

Target has these awesome dips that are only 1g carbs per serving. The flavors are smoked salmon, bacon parmesan, and feta/roasted red pepper. I dipped cucumber slices in them and it was delicious! I'm thinking about trying to make some chicken dish with the bacon parmesan one. I found them in the chiller near the deli case (I should mention this is at Super Target, not regular Target.) It was their store brand, Archer Farms.
