lins,
Thank you. I THINK that the Stubbs marinades are OK?? I found one with something like 10 calories and 1 carb and another for 25 calories and 2 carbs. One has 1 gram of sugar so I hope it's OK. I'm going to go ahead and marinate some chicken in it today and cook them. I need some readily available protein resources or I can see how I'd easily venture off if I get caught off guard. I'll look for some dry rubs too. Thanks everyone!

My husband and I have used Stubbs Marinades as well as Lawrys. We also tend to grill.

txntv - I like the Jay Robb chocolate - I bought a big one. Tastes good mixed with a little instant coffee and water, then add a little 1/2 and 1/2 after it's been warmed up in microwave. (Gotta really mix it all up together before warming so that the protein powder dissolves-it has xanthan gum in it.)

I know it's sick, but I love sardines in a can in tomato sauce with Cholula Hot Sauce added. LOTS of protein and little to no carbs depending on the brand. I stink afterwards though and need to brush my teeth twice!

Hahahaha! This made me giggle. In all honesty, who cares. When you're eating 500 calories a day, a little stinkage is totally worth it for good food.

Shelley - My husband likes sardines out of a can too, on saltines. I can take a bite but that's about it! I even make him throw the can away double bagged and put in the garage trash! (Otherwise the whole kitchen reeks!)

I was at the store on Sunday and I was still in my scrubs since I was on call and I picked up a can of sardines with tomato sauce and was looking at them as I pulled them off the shelf. They had a hole in the can and stinky sardine juice went all over me. So I wiped it off the best I could but you could still REALLY smell it. And of course, as I was checking out I get called back to the hospital. So I have to go do a pregnant patient (who is hypersensitive to smells because she is pregnant) and she comments that I smell like fish, to which her hubby starts laughing.

I thought about telling her that she was mistaken about the sex of her baby and it was really a boy instead of the girl they told her, but that would be evil. And I'm not pure evil, just a little evil.

I bought it in my local store. Netrition does sell it with minimal shipping. It was the 2lb size for $19.99 on sale (normally it's $32.00). I think Medi is 1lb for $25, don't qoute me on that price though. I'd say it's more economical, but More than anything, I just couldn't force myself to like the Medi vanilla shake.

I found a variety pack (16 packets) for it (different flavors) but it is only available online. I am planning a trip and think this would be convenient to have. Does it need a blender or could be just mix in with water?

You can use either a blender or just shake it up in a water bottle.

Medi Keto Stix

Not sure if anybody had a similar problem but I would like to forewarn you about Medi Keto Stix. I was using the Medi keto stix all along and it was so inconsistent and showing negative or trace reading even though I was really sticking to the plan (there were not expired). So I thought may be I did bot stored them correctly. So I bought a brand new bottle from them ($22), measured ketone level, was almost negative. I got so upset so I went on a week 1 regimen for 4 days. In the meantime I bought keto stix from wallgreens ($14). This morning I used both to check and guess what? Medi stix were still showing some faint pink, almost negative, but the wallgreens are showing really good medium reading.

Now I am so mad that I put myself thru the week 1 regimen for nothing. I want to return these Medi keto stix. Not sure if they would give me money back. Does anybody know if it's possible to get money back on the Medi product if you are not satisfied with it?

Mine have consistently showed moderate since day 3 with 2 days of high because I was dehydrated. If they are not expired and you can show in the office you are getting a different reading, then they should replace them or something. I'm not sure about giving you your money back though since they are included in the initial. They might give you a small credit equal to one bottle off your office visit. Hope it works out for you.

I am not sure about their return policy. But I have seem prior posts (which thread...don't remember. Maybe the Ketosis thread) that listed similar complaints. There were a few with believed faulty strips. And when a different (less expensive) brand was purchased the reads were either clearer, or much different all around. So, it must not be uncommon for the ones from Medi clinics not to be reliable. For me, I haven't had any problems. Some days the read seems to take a bit longer than the 40 seconds. I guess you should use what works so you aren't misinformed. We rely on our keto levels big time.

Has anyone tried Kim's magic pop things--you can get them here at central market. Kind of like a rice cake. 15 calories per pop

I tried a sample, Cori, because it smelled good. Took one bite and threw the rest out. It's only 15 calories for 1 round thing but it's also 4 carbs. And no fiber. Didn't taste that good either. JMO though.

Ok, just got back from the appointment - I made them test my stix in parallel with theirs and it read differently (slight pink vs good medium color). So I asked if I can return it - they say "no". This is not the free one that was included, I paid $22 for them. Oh well, I will use the wallgreen's. It is so important to know the exact ketosis situation - I will have to eat this loss

you can also get them at walmart for like 7$ and those work better/last longer than the medi and walgreens (bayer) ones

Got the Walmart one and same results. -sigh- I guess I'll go back on Week 1. I have been losing, but 1lb or less. Would going back on week 1 likely increase the weight loss?

My experience shows that when you go on week 1 - you lose much more. It is just no fun, and I am usuallu dreading that.

I ordered a few things from Netrition, and want to report. I've been CRAVING peanut butter so ordered both the Walden Farms Whipped Peanut Spread........YUCKO (all though my husband says he doesn't mind it) To me it has a real chemical taste, and a "perfumy" aftertaste. NEVER again.
I also bought PB2 and it's really good.......I'll order more before I run out!
I also bought the low carb pizza kit just to try (must have been hungry when I was ordering)
I ordered two kinds of BBQ sauce...one is Walden Farms, so I'm not holding out much hope for that one but the other one is Smokin' Joe Jones. I'm hoping it's good

I like the Hebrew National Low Fat hotdogs
and love all the flavors of low fat Laughing Cow cheese. The Blue Cheese flavor is very mild but is good with chicken. I found both of those at Publix.
I have not ordered the Miracle noodles yet, but have tried the tofu shiritaki noodles and all though I wasn't crazy about them I bought another package to try them again.
I found Almond Flour and Xanthan Gum at Walmart.

I forgot to add that I love the SYNTRAX nectar protein. It's lower in calories (90) and has NO carbs! I've used the Fuzzy Navel, and right now have the Latte, Cappuccino which is great (it can be used with warm water to make a latte type drink) My husband mixes everything with diet soda, and this is good with diet pepsi. I use Almond Milk. I'm ordering the Vanilla today

I ordered the Carribbean Cooler flavor of the SYNTRAX Nectar last night. Just to give it a try. Only on my LCF recommedations. So, I will add to my order one of the chocolatey ones as you mentioned. I miss my Dunkin' Lattes (well, not really- but the idea of it...)
