Anybody ever try Julian Bakery's low carb breads? They have one that is high protein, and 1 net carb. Sounds too good to be true! Their site says that there is a distributer in my town, so I am going to go and try to find a loaf later today.
I tried the Walden Farms products, and hated them. Tasted really chemically to me---the marinara sauce was the worst. I have been mixing hearty mustards (grey poupon, whole grain, etc.) with stevia, for a fabulous dip for ham roll-ups and veggies. Yummy! |

I see this thread hasn't been used in awhile. Thought I would add a few "finds" at Fresh Market. Really found very little there that was MWL friendly that I couldn't find elsewhere...except!
1) Rosemary Parmesean Crisps by Kitchen Table Bakers. 3 thick crisps, all cheese, 80 cal and < 1 g carb. Ridiculously expensive at 5.99 for a 3 oz clear box of approximately 24 "crackers". BUT I would have easily dropped that daily for a sandwich lunch any day of the week...so I splurged. The cost is actually helpful. I find eating one with lunch a few times a week is a real treat. Delicious! 2) Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Chicken Sausage by Amylu. Pork, gluten free, no nitrates, perservatives or MSG. Have to freeze or eat after 4 days of opening! One 2+ oz link is 100 cal and 1.5 carbs. Again, overpriced at 6.99 but instead of one ruben or club sandwich, I get 4 links to eat over 4 diff lunches or suppers. Okay...hopefully commentary was helpful not annoying! lol |

Love This!
I am brand new to LCF- and have literally spent the last 3 hours pouring over every detail of this thread. I have a shopping list on the ready now and I am excited about the new options I will have. I am almost 7 wks in and it's starting to get old to just have meat and veggies... You ladies ROCK!

Going back to ketchup. Nearly every store carries the Heinz unsweetened. Only 1 carb per Tbspn. Found it after spending a bundle on the health food store ketchups.
A good base for a nice splenda sweetened Catalina dressing. 1/3 cup each olive oil, vinegar and ketchup. 1-3 T splenda to taste. (or prefered sweetener) Some like a little more oil. Last edited by royjohnson; 09-11-2011 at 09:25 PM.. |

RoyJ, do you like the lavish bread? I want to try it when I reach goal!
I think the 1 carb ketchup tastes great. It is more tomato-y in flavor probably because so much sugar is left out. So I actually prefer it. |

My netrition order arrived today and I just made my first batch of Dixie Diners chocolate choc chip muffins and they are deelish! It's just been so long since I've had something hot, chocolately and cakey, and they feel like such a treat. They are 84 cals and 4 nets carbs. It's a splurge for me, but it hit the spot. I substituted a 1/4 cup of sugar free toffee syrup for 1/4 cup of the water after reading reviews that recommended that switch. Yum!

Let's Do…Organic, Reduced Fat, Shredded Unsweetened Coconut
2 tbsp: 35 calories, 2 carbs, 1 fiber Compared to regular Unsweetened Shredded Coconut: 2 tbsp: 75 calories, 3 carbs, 1 fiber I like to put a couple of tablespoons in my chocolate protein shake along with some walnuts for a german chocolate shake. It's pretty awesome! |

Flavorings: Lorann Oils-I've noticed people on the other boards use alot too. I also found the SF creamers aren't too bad, if you are desperate. I add them to my shakes for flavor. I used both until I made it into World Market. They have a good selection of Torani & in sugar free too.
Electrolyte: I use the Emergen-C brand. Cheaper & less of an aftertaste. |
