Ketosis Troubles
 
I'm looking for some advice...I have been on the medi diet for 3 weeks now. I went off program on Easter Sunday and haven't been able to get into ketosis since. This is very perplexing because I usually take a max of 2 days to get back into ketosis. I've stuck to the program perfectly this week. Anyone have any thoughts on this??? Thanks in advance.

Having no idea what you are eating, and therefore unable to make any suggestions on that front, I can only ask what, to you, is following the program perfectly. The 128 oz of water, properly proportioned meals with appropriate calorie/carb counts, exercise? Are you journaling everything that you put in your mouth? Taking the meds at appropriate times? Eating at appropriate times, which basically means not snacking prior to bedtime.

The statement that says you usually take two days to get back into ketosis, makes me wonder if you have strayed off program previously in the three weeks you have been with MWL. That could be the key right there. Not for me to say, since I do not see any stats for you, height/beginning weight/current weight/goal weight. I have no idea what your daily intake is, so I have no real way to make any kind of suggestions to you.

Nubbins, I have inadvertently gone out of ketosis twice since starting in January and to get back in as quick as possible I went back to my week one way of eating. I only ate protein and kept it to 500 calories per day. Is that what you are doing or are you still eating the veggies as well?

I'm trying to get back in Ketosis, but it's not working. Frustrated! I have reverted back to week one, but have had almonds and jalapenos. I can't imagine that those two items would prevent me from getting back into ketosis. Gosh...could nuts prevent me from getting into ketosis???

Depending on how many nuts you ate they could. Almonds have carbs too, which is what will keep your body out of ketosis. Check the jalapenos, they could have carbs too. Go straight back to week one. Lean protein only, no cheese, no veggies, no nuts. I'd be shocked if you stayed out more than three days doing that, depending on how much you ate off program. Remember, when you first started it took a good 4-5 days to get in ketosis. If you've been out a while, it may take that long to get back in. You can do it though, in the long run it's a drop in the bucket! Good luck!
