Week 3 weigh-in and down another 3 lbs. For a total loss of -12.6lbs.

I started running last week too, which feels so great! And I got the Chocolate Medi bars today and they are yummy!!!

Debbie, how can you get by on so little food? Your most recent breakfast lists the yummy cocoa almonds as your breakfast. I'm eating my egg for breakfast and a good lunch and dinner, but I'm eating the almonds TOO. And a bite of protein bar. And a salad. And two jellos. While I have to admit, this has been the fastest, healthiest weight loss plan I've ever tried, I still have the urge to EAT - especially in the afternoons. I'm not really hungry, just not ready to be done eating. My true daily CALORIE totals for the day are around 750. That includes every piece of lettuce, pickle, blop of ketchup, pat of butter, etc. I just feel like the calorie total is too high. I'm still losing, so I'm not complaining. It's the MENTAL part of it. As someone who has struggled with food and eating disorders, I want to do this the right way and be healthy every step of the way. But I don't want to feel like I'm doing something wrong if I have an extra handful of almonds. Are there others out there who still have a mental struggle with this some days? Help!

First time sick on Medi and wow is it hard! I didn't take my AS since I'm already taking cold meds that make my heart race just to dry me up. Ugh. I've had almost 1000 calories today. Yikes!

I can totally relate to being sick. I am just getting over one of the worst bouts of illness I've ever had in my life. I didn't eat anything illegal while I was sick, but I didn't eat enough and I was so weak I didn't keep up with my journal as well as I normally do. I took some Nyquil type stuff and the next day tested and was out of Ketosis. The good news is that it only took me a day to get back in and I even lost 2.7 lbs which finally pushed me to the 60lb loss I have been going nuts to get to.

In the past (before Medi) being sick has been a real trigger for me to eat poorly. I am so glad I didn't give in when I was craving comfort food as I think that would have made me feel as sick emotionally as I was physically. So hang in there if you're sick.

Lea, You were probably reading a breakfast on a day I'd slept in.....Saturday? so I ate about 2 1/2 hours later for lunch. I'm having a lot going on right now. No longer working at the hospital. So, not stress/anger eating. Still teaching nursing and going to grad school.

Went through my closet today to get ready for a garage sale....getting rid of the 1X blouses and 16 and 14 pants! Now wearing L blouses, a few XL. Wearing size 12 pants! Now I see a muffin top over the size 12's....so it's time to exercise and shape up my abd, legs and arms. My husband says I'm looking hot!

I am right there with you on the mental struggle. Every time I add a new item to my list of food choices I am afraid it is going to send me on a binge or somehow slow my weightloss. I stay well below the 25 carbs a day for fear of going out of ketosis. Veggies are lower so i eat them and usually have a 1/3 of a fruit serving every other day. I tried the fat free cream cheese mixed with SF Whip cream, vanilla and splenda-tasted like carrot cake frosting. I was terrified that I wouldn't lose weight because it tasted too good LOL. I also dreamt last night that I ate bread and I think I actually tasted it and I even felt the regret and dissapointment. So yea I have food issues and the worry of not succeeding. My husband is an alcoholic sober for over 2 years and he said his first year sober he dreamt of drinking. So I guess I am a carb addict The good news is that dream carbs don't count---LOL

I have a very sore throat today and don't feel good at all. For some reason I am craving bacon.....I don't know where this came from. I had 2 slices this morning, and am trying to plan out the rest of my day (which I always do), but I REALLY want more bacon...hmmm

I got a pedometer (the one someone on here suggested) and I got the 10000 steps in yesterday including 3, 5 minute runs (for a total of 15 minutes running, 30 minutes walking). It felt so nice to be running again!

Ugh this cold is making me crazy! Theraflu has sugar, by the way. I have always consistently been moderately in ketosis but this morning it shows trace. Eek!

I decided to weigh in once every 2 weeks now that I'm being weaned off the AS. That's been a mental struggle for me because for the first time ever, I was a bit lax! Eating too many calories, splurging on a low carb beer or a single glass of red wine, not tracking my eating, eating too many of those Atkins bars. I'm going to do week 1 until my weigh in on Tuesday to get back on track. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet!!!

Does anyone have any cookbooks they can recommend? My family (and myself) are getting really sick of the same ol' grilled/baked meat done a variety of ways + veggie/salad. I love the hungry girl recipes but most of the meals seem to have too many carbs for me. Plus all those dessert recipes are in there and call my name. I look at low carb cookbooks and they're not really low carb enough - plus they are HIGH in fat and calories.

Restarting

I restarted Monday 4/26 though I guess my "official date would be yesterday 4/29, when I went to the Medi clinic. I also posted on the Newbie thread. I'm looking forward to sharing with all.
The last time I did Medi, I found some good recipes on the dlife site. The site is aimed at diabetics, who also watch carbs. You can choose number of carbs when searching.

Hi, see Mary in Pretty Blue!

after 70 lbs loss - this was taken by my someone at my work.

We were doing a baton relay walk all day (rotated among coworkers) to support American Cancer Society.

Thought this was a good photo and wanted to share with you. If you want to see what I started out with, side by side with what I started out as.

Great job Mary- you look fabulous!!

After a disappointing loss last week- I was super focused this week. Down another -4.8! So happy to be able to change my avatar! Another step closer to goal.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I have the same dreams! I was once a smoker and for years after I quit, I would dream I was smoking. I've done that on this diet too, dreamed of eating a big piece of chocolate cake or something. I hate that feeling because it's a true guilt, like I really DID eat it. I have not cheated on this plan, but some days I end up with 675 or so in calories of protein instead of my recommended 500 to 600. Sometimes it's because I'm hungry. Sometimes it's because I just want to keep eating. I'm more worried about the mental part than the physical. My husband said, "Did you think the fact that you would want chocolate would go away just because the pounds are?" and it was almost profound. Cause the truth is, yeah, maybe I DID think the part where I wanted it would just go away.

Hi Mary you look wonderful and congratulations on your continued success.

Good Morning Debbie, I love getting rid of clothes and getting a few new pieces. Doc told me to buy a few at a time due to the rapid weight loss.

Excited because today is Lei Day and I will be wearing shorts out in public without embarrassment. I haven't wore these size shorts in over 13 years, crying with joy right now. It's really an overwhelming feeling of joy and excitement.

Wow Mary you have really come a long way. Keep up the hard work because it's obviously working for you, you look great!

I wore a dress today that I felt really great in. I went to a tea at church and all my friends told me how great I looked. That really just lifted me up and made me know I was doing the right thing. I feel great, and now people are starting to notice. It's a great way to start the day. I also ran 3 times this week, which makes me excited. I missed running.

Hey CJBee, I had dreams too. They were so REAL I would wake up in a panic thinking I had done it in my sleep. I literally TASTED the food. Anyway it was a big WHEW when I realized it was just a dream and I went back to sleep smiling and satified. It felt like I was getting away w/ something naughty My brain must have clicked into medi gear or something b/c the other night I found my self dreaming about eating cottage cheese! Something is definitely wrong w/ that picture in my book Good luck, SCgirl

Went to a retirement dinner for a coworker last night and felt (and looked) great in an outfit I hadn't fit in for about 6 years, and it looked timeless too! My husband said I looked HOT! Need to keep this in mind and never be above this weight again, ever. Still have 19 lbs to go to get to goal....hoping for 7 lbs loss in May.
