Check out my recipe video for Guiltless Peach Cake and tell me what you think.

For those who are interested, my pedometer is an Omron HJ-112 . It is small and lightweight, can be slipped into a pocket (where mine usually is) or into your bra (for the ladies). It comes with a dealio to clip it onto jeans or whatever, but I only use that occasionally. It is programmable, has a 7 day memory, tallies the time/steps/aerobic steps-consistent walking for 10 or more minutes/calories burned/miles walked. You program the time where you are, your weight, your stride length and the pedometer does the rest. The batteries cost about $4.00 to replace, and they are good for 6 months of 10000 steps per day. You can google the item and find it in a lot of places.
I have two of them and alternate them from week to week. Jo

That's terrific! It's exactly the kind of start that is recommended. When people start off just running, their is a danger of being discouraged by lack of stamina/fitness. Beginning with a run/walk combo is a great way to get into the sport. In fact, runners use regularly time walk breaks to complete marathons and half-marathons (check out Jeff Galloway).

Hi all! When last we spoke I was just back from a week and a half vacation in England, where I gained a mere 1.5 pounds (which was totally acceptable as I had thought very carefully about my plan for eating - explained in detail in an earlier post).
A couple of days after that weigh-in I was off to Orlando for a four day conference. I had a plan for this too. Not qualifying as a special food opportunity, I packed EAS shakes to have with my coffee at breakfast, deli ham and hard boiled eggs as back-ups in case the conference lunch was inedible, and powerade zero. For dinner, I was going to go to regular restaurants and choose items that were within the parameters of my plan. I was able to follow my plan, and, even eating out for 5 meals, I lost 6 pounds! ![]() For two of the lunches, I was able to eat the event food. The third was completely inedible (grilled chicken pre-slathered in BBQ sauce with side dishes of macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans, and mac and cheese! seriously, what were they thinking???). For that one I ran back up to my room to get some deli ham. For dinner, I ate in the Disney parks. I downloaded an iPhone application that allows you to find the restaurants in the area you are in and view all the menus. This was a huge help as I was able to easily find restaurants that had food I would be able to eat. I never put myself in the position of having to settle for something that was off the plan. I also had very tasty food at dinners, so I didn't feel deprived (or jealous!) in the least. I am so excited to have been able to meld home habits with carefully selected restaurant meals. Especially since I have two more week-long business trips coming up. I never thought I could lose 6 pounds while out-of-town!!!

Great Susie!
I was looking for the right thread to post this question and now I think here with you is the best one! Truth be told, I began to cook when I got on the MWL diet. So far it's been goood because it's been simple/plain things to make. 3 weeks ago I printed out several recipes from the lunch, dinner and dessert thread. Today I decided to make 2 of them and my kitchen looks like a volcano exploded there! I need cooking for Dummies 101. I'm TOTALLY lost, confused on the measurements and helpless using the food scale. I'm an IT Engineer with a masters and I can't figure out a recipe??? I have so many questions, I don't know where to start.

Hi All -
I just got back from a 4 week break from MWL (I was out of town on vacation for two weeks in Belize and spent two weeks in Turkey for work). I tried to watch what I was eating, but did stray from the diet and fell out of Ketosis. Since I am new to the diet, I had concerns that I would gain back my two week loss and then some during the 4 weeks I was out of town. But to my surprise, I weighed in at a 1pound loss today. I regretted not sticking to the diet for the past month but am ecstatic that I was able to maintain through vacation and international travel. I am looking forward to getting back on track, getting into ketosis and focusing on my next event - maid of honor at my best friend's wedding in a month. The dress is hot pink and short (oh lordy), but I know that if I stick with MWL, I will look better than I do today and will ultimately reach my goal. I hope you have all had an amazing month!! Glad to be back. - Amy |

Question for Susie! Where did you find the sugar free peach jello? Your cheesecake sounds amazing. Some of the other recipes at the Philly site sound great, too. Thanks for the link.
