I haven't been on here in a long time, but I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to this forum and to all who supplied recipes, tips, offered encouragement, etc. This forum was such a great resource for me, and I wanted to come back and offer encouragement to others to hang in there and stick with it!!

It was TODAY to the day that I had my first week weigh in at Medi and lost 8.8 pounds. It was the beginning of my journey and it has been an awesome ride! I hit my goal of 60 pounds, and kept going another 15 for a total of 75 pounds lost. I lost the first 60 pounds in 5 months, and the last 15 in the final 2 months. I've been maintaining with no problems since December, and I'm holding steady at 165.

To all who have reached goal, congrats! To all who are so close, HANG IN THERE, and to all who are just starting -- stick with it, stay on track and you can totally do this!! ITs so worth it, and you are so worth it!!

Cori - Thanks for replying. We'll get through this, just like others who have been successful we've got to tough it out and stick with it. Any day I might have been discouraged on this program still beats my very best day at my old weight.

I do have some good news to share though. I did a little experiment with myself tonight. For the past couple of weeks I have been pretty excited because I had gone down 2 full clothing sizes. I bought some new clothes (and actually enjoyed it for once!) for work and just picked up a slew of them that I had to have altered at a tailor. I even had new clothes in my new size in my closet from years ago that still had the tags on them! Anyway, I decided tonight when we were out that I would pick up a pair of pants in the next size down and use them to gauge my progress. As I was pulling them up over my legs I was mentally preparing myself by saying 'they're going to be snug and probably wont button so dont freak out'. I couldnt believe my eyes when they pulled up AND buttoned without any struggle. I just kept staring and looking in the mirror, turning around...I'm still in shock. I havent been in this size pants for almost ten years...I wasnt even in this size when I met/married my husband!

Only you guys know this kind of joy. It did give me a boost after having been a little down earlier today over the weigh in so I feel much better!

Way to go!! I, too, am shocked as I try on clothes in my closet that I haven't worn in a long while.

Question about supplements??? I need to replace my fat burner, omega 3 and colon cleanse and really look to you guys for honest recommendations for products other than MWL. I still may purchase them from MWL but are there comparable products available?

I love buying new thinner clothes now. Even on weeks I haven't lost weight on the scale. The way my clothes feel remind me of how I'm doing. Sometimes it's tough though, that's for sure.

As far as supplements... I use MegaT fat burners. They work fine for me. That's the only one I use outside of Medi.

Had my week 13 weigh in today- down 3lbs! I hit that 60lb mark today! Feels pretty good...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Are you in ketosis? If you hadn't been up 1 pound of water and had showed a 2 pounds total loss would you still have been disappointed. Water is temporary, the fat is what you want to lose.

IMHO, you need to focus on the behaviors and the WOL, not the scale. You cannot control the scale, and especially being female we have lots of fluctuations due to water and hormones. If you stayed on program honestly, celebrate that. That is the success. The scale going down is a result of your success. Focus on the long term and not the short term. If this is to be a WOL you need to get used to eating this way (only more calories, no meds, and the occassional indulgence).

Well I need some encoragement too! I haven't been on here in a while and it's shown in my weight loss (or lack there of). For the past month or so I feel like I've just lost motivation. One week I do great, the next week I just eat whatever I want  I don't know what it is. I know what I'm doing is terrible and I feel so guilty afterwards, but I just can't break this death cycle. On the weeks I do bad I cancel my appointments (although I've been cancelling so I don't have to pay the $70 every week too). I have 18 more pounds to get to my goal.. and I'm hoping to get there by June 21st (when I leave for vacation in Mexico). I know that with MWL it's possible to lose that 18 pounds before then, but why can't I just stick with it like I did at the beginning??? I'm proud of myself for losing 40 pounds so far, because I can not remember a time when I was this size, but I just need to get my butt in gear and lose the last 18!!!!

ughhhh... what is wrong with me???

On my 2nd week, I only lost 1.8. On my third and thereafter, I only lost 1.5-2 lbs. Sometimes I lost water and gained fat! (Those scales aren't 100% accurate, by the way.) I'm starting my 7th week and my last weigh in was 4 pound loss! The total so far has been 19 pounds. That's really REALLY good for me. Whatever you do, DO NOT give up because like the doctor told me, there is really no rhyme or reason as to how your body gets rid of the weight. One week you'll have no loss and then the next you'll make up for it!

For the Omega-3 and the Colon Cleanse I went to Sam's Club. I found a flax based Omega supplement that I like (no fishy burp taste) and I found a Sam's brand "Stool Softener" that I like. They were cheap and work well. I have been using Alli for my fat burner, but when that run's out I'm going to buy CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) from Puritan's Pride vitamins (you can find their site online). It is also very affordable and I have read tons of good reviews of it online.

But isn't Alli way more expensive than MWL's fat burner?

It might be, but I had some left over from a previously failed dieting attempt so I figured I would use it up before paying money for anything else!

I have about 18 left to lose too! Let's do it together! You can do this - you just need to want it bad enough. Girl, you lost almost 40 pounds! Don't stop now unless you are ok with where you are! Get back into ketosis and start moving that booty to burn more fat. This WOL is a piece of cake - just take it one day at a time. After the first week, you will be good as gold. It's only ONE week out of your whole lifetime! Go to the store, stock up on good MWL friendly stuff, get the junk out and your materials and get busy.

Alli is not a fat burner....it's just a way to prevent absorption of some fat. I had talked to my doc a long time ago about Alli and she said that with this WOL you're eating really so little fat that your body NEEDS the amount of fat in this WOL in order for your body to be satisfied and to keep up with building your regular hormone level, etc. I know you've lost, but just a heads up.

Hi Everyoine!

Just checking in. Today is Day 4 of Medi and I can confidently say that despite drinking 128oz of water a day, I am in moderate ketosis! W00t!

I have a quick question for you. Is there a specific amount of fat grams we should be under in addition to the less than 20 carb grams? For those of you that don't know, I'm doing this on my own (no medi clinic by me) and my mom who is in Medi said her counselor told her the fat grams don't matter. Just the carbs and in her case sodium.

Thanks in advance. I can't wait to weigh in next week!

For those having difficulty sticking to plan, remember how much weight you have already lost! You can do this and this WOL truesly works. Try to make your meals fun!

hi I am a newbie.. Started a week ago friday. I lost 7.5 at my first weigh in. I was just wondering if I could get some ideas when I travel. Also, my counselor told me to take the EFA's with my fat burner, does not make sense, Aren't EFA's fat???

Hi Kasey,

Regarding the fat grams allowed I wasn't given a specific # either, but b/c I am trying to lose I tend to gravitate more twds foods that are lower in fat. For example, grilled chicken w/o skin, turkey breast meat, turkey bacon, most seafood is very low in fat and when purchasing ground beef, I try to go for the lower fat b/c the fat in meat is saturated wh/ is bad for you anyway. When buying things such as cheese, or sour cream I avoid FF b/c usually they add sugar to add taste wh/ in turn adds carbs. When trying to decide b/w something w/ more fat vs more carbs I always go w/ the lower carb option. You DO need fat in your diet for you body to function correctly and b/c this diet tends twd the lower fat side Medi advises adding alittle healthy fat 3x a week via EVOO, nuts or something similar. Hope this helps and good luck, SCgirl

I wasn't given a number to stay under but I chose to try and stay under 40g and the closer to 30g the better! On average, I was about 34-36.

Amy, this is what I am going through now too... so you are not alone. I lost over 60 lbs and I have been struggling for the last three weeks. I have been out of ketosis for these three weeks, too. All last week I was on week all protein and yet still out of ketosis. I have been exercising great with walking and weight training.

The food journal writing - I know should be better... (guess it's the frustration thing). But will go to clinic tomorrow to see what's up and see if I need some changes.

But hang in there, I am sure... we will find a way to push through this.

Thanks guys. I've been trying to keep my fat grams under 40g but i went to my in laws and had red meat so that day the fat was up.

Just a few more days until my first weigh in. I'm nervous!

Hi everyone,

So I'm going through a rough patch this week. My father passed away the day after my last weigh in. I was good for a couple days, but during the viewing/funeral days I had very limited options and to be honest, it wasn't my first concern. So I'm out of ketosis for the first time. I'm back 100% today. Does anyone know how long it will take to get back into ketosis? I get weighed tomorrow. I just want to go, get it over with, and move on. I'm ok with the fact that I will not lose anything this week, I'm just hoping I don't have a big gain. I guess I'm luck I got off to such a good start, so this week shouldn't throw me off too much.

Hope everyone else is having a better week,

A very sad GirlInJersey

GirlinJersey: I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family is okay.

From what I have seen on the forums, to get back in ketosis some users have redone week 1 menu of only protein for a few days or a full week. I hope this helps.

Very sorry for your loss. Unfortionately, I have been kicked out of Ketosis before. The first time, I never went back into ketosis but still slowing began to lose but than I used it as an excuse to go off diet and gained some weight back.

However, since then, I have got back on plan and learned how to get back into ketosis as well. For me, it was the best learning experience. I do a version of week 1. Not as hard core, but with some veggies. Usually only takes me 1-3 days to get back in that way. I think everyone's body is different but once you figure it out, it feels great to get back on track and to know your body is responding.
Good luck...

GirlinJersey-so sorry for your loss, hope you are able to quickly get back in ketosis, I know that i have been out for awhile and mentally it is really throwing me off.
I am week 14, down 47 lbs! Unfortunately have hit "celebration mode" and have been off program all weekend. Am desperately trying to get back in ketosis and stop making stupid choices!! This board is a huge help in getting my head back in place and I just want to say "thanks!" (the newbie board is also helpful in preparing to repeat week 1) Have my weigh-in tomorrow (going to just close my eyes and move forward)

GirlinJersey....So sorry for your loss!

I, too, have zigzagged in and out of ketosis but I can usually get back in within 2 days or so depending on my fat intake. Today was my Week 7 weigh in with a 3 pound loss. I have never gained since starting the program and have had 2 separate weeks of maintaining. I, undoubtedly, have to exercise much more in order to increase my weekly loss. My counselor said it has to be strength training to build the muscle that will efficiently burn the fat. She also recommended that I may want to follow Week 1 to see a nice drop for motivation. Overall, I still am happy with the program and my progress thusfar.

I'm so sorry for your loss GirlinJersey

It usually takes me 3 to 4 days to get back into ketosis but even when I've been out I've lost weight.

I had my weigh in today and lost 1.4 lbs however I've gained 4.4 lbs of water. The NP told me not to worry about it since I'm on TOM. I had my journal with me because I needed to talk to her about my slow weight loss compare to other folks on the forum that started around the same time as I did. She also told me not to worry about the slow weight loss and the only thing she saw I was not doing is drinking enough water.
From the very beginning I've had a really hard time drinking so much water. I gag! The one thing I've been very disciplined about is hitting the gym 5 to 6 times a week for 1 to 2 hrs.
My birthday is next month and I really want to be in the onederland. Starting back to week 1 tomorrow.
I do have to say that everyone at works has noticed that I've lost weight and they tell me how good I look. Even my son told me the other day "wow mom you really look good, maybe now you will be willing to start dating" I teared up and to be honest I haven't felt and look this good in over 13 yrs.
