Weigh-In #10 lost 2.8 lbs. for a total of 19.2. Thought I would be a little further along by now, but back to back colds have me eating soup and crackers...way too much sodium and no exercise. My counselors tell me I am on track - they like to see 2-4 lbs lose per week. My "finances" say this is getting expensive...so far over $900. Going to try and keep going because the shots really help when I am not sick.

Don't ever make a drastic change based on one week unless you know your behavior was inappropriate. Your body is going through so many changes at this time that sometimes it takes time to catch up. Be patient. You can control behaviors, but you have no control over the scale. Focus your energy on what you have control over.

Oops! Made a Big Boo-Boo, don't make the same mistake!

Hello, sorry for not getting on the forum for the last two or so weeks. I was so busy and also "freaking out".

I had been losing weight great in the last three months and always in "ketosis" UNTIL two weeks ago!

I could not understand what was making me going out of Ketosis for over a week. I read the journal, everything looks right, I was eating the same things. I was exercising great and drinking my water! I went back on week one for almost a week and a half and I was still NOT in ketosis. I was pretty upset!

BUT guess what - the culprit was the WRONG Blue Diamond Almond Milk. I like drinking the Almond Milk with Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup for "hot chocolate" several days a week in the evening to take the edge off.

When I went shopping, to get more Almond Milk, I realized they switched the UNsweetened with the Sweetened version on the shelf where I get it. I then realized that all that milk I was drinking had all those "CARBS", I bought the UNsweetened version and drove home like a maniac. AND sure enough, I checked in the fridge, it was the "wrong one" and threw it out.

Two days later, I was starting to show I was getting back in Ketosis and now lost 2.6 in a few days and am in Ketosis once again!

Hallejuah! So watch your labels! How dumb of me! Anyway, I am back to my normal self and losing like I should!

It's great to see everyone losing their weight! Keep it up Everyone!

Week 10 weigh in today. Down 1.6 pounds. Started out to be a better week than that but I think St. Pattys day hurt it a little. Anyway, I'll take it and down just about 20 pounds in 10 weeks.

Not the best as I was off plan for 4 weeks, out of ketosis for 5 weeks but still 20pounds gone. Im back on track and back in ketosis(although only small) but seems to be getting back into. 10 more pounds till Im at my lowest weight while on Medi over a year ago. Working towards that goal for now. There are some amazing numbers on this board and a lot of inspiration...

Good morning Medi friends! Congrats to all on the successful weigh ins! I am keeping on, keeping on. I would rather lose quicker though. Seems I had these numbers with Weight Watchers at $12 a week instead of $70 though and I ate a whole lot more. I'm giving it a good month to get an average though. I must say my body loves the lower carb lifestyle. No more chronic yeast infections! (Sorry TMI but I was on diflucan twice a month for them! Misery!) Plus no more tummy bloating (waist is down 9" in 2 weeks) or awful heartburn.

Anyway, just made myself a vanilla latte and wanted to share!

1c unsweetened vanilla almond milk heated
1 pack splenda
1 Starbucks Via

Almost better than the real thing!

Erin,

Thank you so much for the vanilla latte recipe! That was my one love at Starbucks, I'll definitely try it out. And congratulations on all of your success so far with the diet!! 9 inches in two weeks, 9 pounds your first week, and all the benefits its had on your body so far. I've only been on it a week, but I feel great! I feel even better knowing all the success I have to look forward to by seeing all of your results several weeks in. Stick with it, seems like its had more than just positive results on the scale for you. And thanks again for the recipe, I'm excited!

You're welcome, Amy! And just as a side note, that 9" obviously isn't fat but the decrease in bloating from the carbs and sugars I was having. Last night I was in front of the mirror sucking in to make my tummy look somewhat flat. LOL Woohoo!

So I had my week 5 weigh in yesterday and am down another 2.5 pounds, which makes 22 pounds so far. Since the jeans that I have been wearing are now so baggy that I can slide out of them without unbuttoning them, I decided to celebrate by shopping for a new pair. There is an Old Navy on my way home from work. They have up to size 20, but the size 20s were too small for me before. I thought I would go in and test. It turns out, I can now wear an Old Navy size 20. I was so excited that I tried on every single style of jeans they had - which is actually quite a few. I didn't end up finding any I liked, but I still left in a great mood. Having clothes fit and not liking them is completely different from not being able to try them at all.

My next stop was an Avenue next door (plus sized). It must be the season for denim because that had an unusually wide range of styles. I actually ended up finding two pairs that I love (yes, love), but it was funny because I had a hard time finding jeans in my size (18 at that store). Most of the sizes they had in stock were too big!!! My husband was laughing at me when I got home. I don't think he's ever seen me come home from clothes shopping in such a great mood

Good Morning everyone. Last night a made a delicious crumb cake and after having a slice yesterday (5 carbs) and a slice today. I am starting to think that its to good to be Medi-legal. Is almond flour allowed in phase 1?

Hi All!
So, I found this site back at the end of Jan before I started Medi in Feb and found all of your comments and pictures SO inspiring! I started in Feb and I lost 18 lbs in 4 weeks, it was awesome!

Then I went on vacation and had to skip two Medi appointments because of costs. Overall I have definitely been eating more than I should, and I've allowed myself a bit of the two things I've been craving (pizza and french fries, of course!). I know I'm up a few pounds but very confident that they'll come off easily this week since I'm going back to only protein starting tomorrow.

My problem is, I just re-did my budget and there is absolutely no way for me to afford paying the $70+ a week for the appointments. I've added it all up and with the additional shots (which I would knock off first) and supplements, it's close to $350 a month! Unfortunately my husband doesn't have an income right now because he's starting his own business so all of our bills are coming out of my salary.

I'm SO bummed. I initially put aside $1200 of our tax refund, thinking it would be more than enough to get to maintenance (I have 75 lbs to lose, total), but things came up and I had to spend it in other ways.

I thought about turning to credit cards but I decided that I would only use those in an emergency, not for Medi. AND we have another vacation coming up for our anniversary (2 yr wedding/10 yrs together) which will be a road trip to visit friends so I think I need to save credit for that.

I'm starting to panic though. I'm REALLY nervous about limiting myself to 500 calories without the shots and Dr. supervision. I'm going to try my absolute hardest to stick to that but if I start feeling weak or sick, I know all bets will be off.

What should I do?!

By the way...my profile picture is from our rehearsal dinner, 4/4/08. I had lost 30 lbs doing Weight Watchers prior to our wedding. Over the past two years I gained 50 lbs from the stress of work and school, and my husband's loss of work.

I know this all stems from bad eating, stress, and being depressed, which has lead to no exercise and going to bed right after dinner.

But when I saw this picture (attached) from New Years' Eve, it was such a wake-up call.

I can't believe I was 25 lbs away from my goal weight before my wedding...it's just so shocking.

Thanks for listening!
Becki

Week 4 down 3.4

Since starting Medi in February, I've lost 18.8 lbs, but I started cutting out sugar prior to starting Medi. On January 4th I weighed 205 so I'm actually down 25.2 lbs

Becky, I can definitely relate to the financial issues of Medi. I stopped last January and over the year gained 20 of the 40 lost. I got back on this January and am just 10 pounds away from my lowest weight last year. I have 20 more from there. It really hurt me stopping not being in Maintanance.

A few ideas on your question. Did you calculate the savings in food on the diet? I know a lot of people have comment on that getting lower. Also, I would talk with your clinic. I have heard a lot of different situations. Going every other week, going once a month, or even put yourself in maintanance so they can help you at least maintain. Not sure what the monthly cost is to that. Also, I know a lot of people on here do it themselves and without AS. Hopefully, you'll get the support!! Good luck!!

Thanks Lucas33! I actually spoke with someone at work today who lost over 60 lbs through a doctor prescribed diet. She said that I should concentrate on the lean protein, green veggies, no dairy (except eggs), no fruit or legumes lifestyle and not count calories, just eat until I'm full and I'll be fine. She agreed that 500 calories is extreme when doing it on your own so be sure to eat until I'm full and ensure that I continue to take vitamins and supplements.

So...I'm going to talk to my Medi office but from what I've heard from co-workers that go there, they won't discount below the 10% off that we already get through work.

I need to do research on B6/B12 supplements though, they have definitely given a boost to my energy and mental state (although I'm certain that no carbs and sugar have made a major difference as well!)

Annoyed!

Alright,

I know I really have no reason to be annoyed, but I didn't lose anything in week 2. I suppose after my week 1 17-pound loss, by body went WTH and decided that we would be dead in 10 weeks if it kept going at that rate!

Still...it's hard to see such a drastic drop the first week and then...nothing. But I know the scales will keep moving eventually. I'm just trying to stay on plan and not be discouraged. If I think of it as an 8.5-pound loss for each of the first two weeks, it's not so bad.

Happy Birthday Jerry, you look great! And congrats Justin and Cori on all the weight loss. It is incredible!! You are all motivating me to stick with it. And Cori, to think you just joined this year and you have lost that kind of total. I'm not sure how you are able to drop the big numbers each week so consistently, but if I can get anywhere near your week to weeks I will be a happy girl!! Hope you are all having a good week so far!

It helps w/ water weight loss. According to my clinic it is good for that, cramps & cravings....all of wh/ I can personally attest to. I get the shot if it's my TOM or I seem to be going thru a particularly hard time w/ cravings, other than that I just get my 1 shot. Hope this helps, SCgirl

Congratulations!! And now I have some questions! What are you doing each week? More specifically:

1. what is your workout plan?
2. how much water do you drink everyday?
3. are you still really careful about journaling?
4. do you get the second pink shot during the week?
5. do you get the alternative shot when you go for your weekly appt?
6. do you strictly eat meat and vegetables or do you have cheese, yogurt, SF candy, etc?

Thanks if you make it all the way through these questions, just trying to figure out what we are doing differently so I can try and improve! Congrats again!
