Have a question. Does anyone work the night shift? If so, how do you manage? My shift starts at 9pm and I get off at 7am. I try not to eat anything after I get off work and if I go home and go to bed I am fine. But, if I have things to do I may not go to bed until 2 or 3 pm and I get really hungry. If I don't eat I feel weak. If I do eat, I feel guilty and deduct the calories from the night menu and try to spread the rest my calories throughout the night...which sometimes does not hold me over because when I get off at 7am, I am super hungry again. It's a vicious cycle. I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I am on week seven. I am losing the weight, but I feel there must be a better way to spread my calories without feeling like I'm going to die of hunger. Thanks!!!

Have you tried turkey pepperoni? If you have a microwave handy, spread out about 15 pieces on a plate and microwave for 60-90 seconds. They get super crispy...if you're a snacker who likes crunch, this will take care of that craving for sure! Plus, it's only 50 CALORIES for 15!!! I discovered this this week after reading about it here on the forums. And I've been eating some every day...they take care of my munchies with no problem and few calories! Kelley |

if you wanna get crazy you can spread a little of that soft laughing cow swiss cheese on each one like a cracker...it's tasty! I'm still around for those that know me...I stopped going to the clinic as frequently over the holidays and maintained my weight of 215-220. I rebooted about 3 weeks ago and am now approaching it not as a guy who already lost 110 lbs...but as a guy that is new to the program and wants to lose 30-40 lbs... so far this refreshed mindset is working and i lost 7 last week and 4 this week to bring me to 209, my lowest weight since i was 19 or so. my goal weight keeps dropping, originally it was 220, then 200, now 190 but I am even eyeballing 175 ![]() in April it will have been 1 year since I started Medi, and it has been the happiest year I can remember. |

Well, I finally made it back into Ketosis. I got out on 2/14/10(valentines day wine) and also went off plan for about 3 weeks. I started back on plan last week and It took me just about the full week to get back in this time. I did not do week 1 food totally but more of a softer version of week 1 with more veggies. Obviousely probably the reason for taking longer to get back in but it was what I could do mentally. Regardless, Im just glad to be back in. I was still losing when I was out of ketosis last week but glad to know my body is reacting properly.

I finally went back to the gym yesterday after a whole week of just laying in bed. At first I thought I was going to pass out since my chest still hurts and couldn't breath but I made it through 20 minutes on the stair master and an hour of kickboxing. I'm going back tonight for an hour of weight lifting. I'm relaxing in bed now hoping that by 6PM my headache would be gone.

This Thursday will mark the end of my first month of the program and if it weren't for this board, I probably wouldn't have been as successful. My TOM is due any day and I hope it doesn't sabotage my weigh in but should I retain more fluids I know the following week weigh in will reflect that. In retrospect this program has been very manageable for me. Sure I had some bad days, some days I have overeaten but I have never yet swayed off program with sugar, processed foods or any of the old things that got me here in the first place. I can remember how awful I used to feel after eating alot of high carbs and sugar. It's not worth it to me and frankly I don't crave them any longer. I definitely have trigger foods though. I cannot have large bags of pork rinds at home, cool whip or almonds because although they are allowed within moderation, I haven't cured my ability to binge on occasion and those foods do it to me. Sure it's better than bingeing on doritos, ice cream and peanuts but bingeing here is the operative word. So if it's out of sight, it's out of mind. That's how it has to work in my home. The best part of all of this so far is recognizing the difference! It's almost like this woe has been a well kept secret for so long yet it's so logical and do-able. Continued luck to all of you contemplating this program, those just starting and to those who live it! I still have a ways to go to my goal and to learn how to keep it off but I feel I am more on the right path than ever! I am down 16.3 # in 3 weeks and hope to lose the 3.7# this week to hit 20#. If I don't, that will be just fine with me but I will never complain about how far I have come in such a short time.

slbpl61 - I just wanted you to know that I really liked your post. I agree, MWL is the best kept secret! I really have had very few "bad" days and it's usually when I forget to take my AS.
I had to cancel my appointment this week, but I used my home scale and I'm down 4 lbs! That puts my loss over 30 lbs (new avatar, woohoo!) and puts me into the 150's, where I haven't been in YEARS! I am just so excited to be a little over halfway to my goal! Thank you to all of you who have been so encouraging and more importantly shared your successes, that is the most motivating to me! Have a great week everyone!

-2.6 of all fat this week! Yay! I had a long talk with a different counselor this week and he really helped me with ways I can change to have even better results, and helped me realize I'm not eating enough. I hope with his advice, next week will be even better. I was getting somewhat discouraged, but he reminded me that their goal is -30 in 12 weeks, and I'm -21 in 6, so I'm doing great!

Hmm. Well my 2nd weigh in resulted in a -1.8. Ok I guess. However, I didn't lose any fat according to the scale. I was actually up slightly but down 2 pounds in water which is weird since I felt "puffy" from too much sodium. Should I be upset about this? How accurate are these scales?

Lucas33 - I know what you mean about getting out of ketosis. I'm back to week 1 again today after getting off for stress related reasons (not a good excuse and it's still a weak area timewise, I need to work on this!) Anyways....you're not alone. I've gained 4.2 lbs since last week. Plan to see that and more gone by the end of the month. Want a challenge? I'm all in now!Kristenb-I'm SO proud of you for making it to the 150's!! We started about the same time (me at 190 and you at 187)....being consistent is working for you, girl! You are no longer in the "obese" category, are you? I touched back into it today being over 170. GRR!! Can't wait to see you hit your goal, friend! ![]()

I've been off the AS for over a month, hence the slow weight loss because of the really bad migraines I get. I started on them yesterday and I had a really bad migraine. None the less I went to the gym. I also haven't been testing for ketosis but will start again this week. |

Oh my goodness, you are totally right! I just calculated my BMI and it was 28.7, which is in the "Overweight" not "Obese" category! I never thought I would be excited to say I am in a category titled "Overweight", but I am today! Thanks for pointing that out Fit! You'll be with me down here in the 150's in no time! Have a great week everyone!

I'm a new poster but I needed to share my loss! Just had my third week weigh in and I'm down another 3 for a total of 11lbs! Also just tried the Miracle Noodles...not too sure about them yet, I don't care for the "squeaky" crunch but I'm going to keep trying them. Thanks to everyone for all the great posts that keep me laughing and focused!
P.S. - Anyone in Naples, FL? |

kristenb - Isn't that great! I think that is part of the reason why I was "settling" for a while....I was no longer in the obese category. Well, that doesn't go with my NAME: Fit2010!! It's still a goal. I had off work yesterday and today due to Spring break (so my teaching job is out of school) and my regular job just called and low worked me for tomorrow since so many docs are on Spring break. I really, really needed this break!
Welcome Carolb29 - I know you're laughing at this posting! |

Hey Opalring, man that's a tough one. I have a couple of suggestions maybe you have already tried them and maybe not. I think what it comes down to is looking at the day ahead of you and when you will be able to sleep (after work..8am, or later...2pm) vs when you will be getting up and then planning around that. For me, that would decide how I would spend my calories. Regardless of the time of day, I eat about 4x a day and maybe a snack (string cheese) depending on my calories during my meals. I always get my carbs in early during breakfast and lunch (my biggest meal) wh/ for you would either be right before work or in the middle of work depending on when you started your day. That would allow you to have something after work like a shake, deli meat or cottage cheese instead of being in the mindset of "I WILL NOT allow myself to eat anything after work." Just saying that makes me want food

He also wanted me to eat more calories in the morning (since I workout in the AM), then less in the evening. This is really hard for me, since I like to eat dinner with my hubby, but that means I'm eating at 8 or later. So...he used the analogy to eat like a Queen for breakfast, a Princess for lunch, and a Pauper for dinner. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that because I really am not THAT hungry at breakfast. But, I'm going to give it a try and see how next week goes! I'm nervous too, but also have trust in the counselors that they know what they are doing
