![]() Thanks girl! You were right, once you get past the first week, it is the easiest plan I've ever been on. I had my week 2 weigh in today and lost 4 lbs total, BUT I lost 5 lbs of fat!! ( I had a gain of 1 lb of water. They explained to me that when you lose mat mass like that water fills in the pockets, and it goes away after about a week. My total loss so far is 12 lbs total/11 lbs FAT!! |

You said exactly what I am feeling. My loss is at just under 15 pounds, but it's only been three weeks! I think I'm amazed because I've tried so many plans and nothing has worked for me before. I agree with everyone who has said "this is the easiest plan I've tried."

??
Has anyone gone back to week 1 and noticed a significant weight loss at their next weigh in? Also if you workout a lot do you have to add back those calories or not I've seen a lot of conflicting information in some threads.

I think it depends on what "a lot" is and also what type. I have gone from little to no exercise to walking 45 min/day 4-5 days a week and they have not said anything. My doc did say that when I went back to my personal trainer for strength training to let him know and they wld probably increase my protein. I wld discuss it w/ your clinic doctor. Good luck, SCgirl |

Thanks SCgirlinFL. I am currently doing Medi on my own. I have been exercising for about 45min-1hr daily. I make up for the calories lost because I remember that is what my clinic had told me before. But I feel like I should be losing more weight that is why I was wondering if I should just stick to the 500.

Happy Friday Everyone! Went for my week 9 weigh in today. Was very nervous thanks to TOM coming for a visit. Luckily, I don't think it had too much of an impact... I lost -3.2 lbs!! That brings me to the half way mark (ok, just shy of it). 45 down-47 to go!!
Have a great weekend!! |

Finally back
Went for my first weighin since getting ill and having surgery. I have lost 3 lbs which is not too bad considering I am still getting back into the swing of things. Will start week one over again to jump start the fuel burner and then only 15 to go to goal!!!
![]() I am so proud and happy for all of you that have lost or am losing weight on the program. This has been the best thing ever discovered. Keep up the good work. ![]() Heather |

AUTiger, Mom on a mission, Shimbus, and every other "loser" on this thread...You are doing so great!! I'm so happy to be on this journey with all of you! My nursing scrubs feel so loose in the legs/thighs and tops were I've lost inches and my face looks thinner...I remember that look from years ago! Weigh in will be Monday but I'm already down another 2 lbs. Yes, my Metformin for insulin resistance helps, and so does the protein and only a few carbs (week 2 version) really help, but mostly what helps is the accountability and encouragement of all of you!! Just knowing that we're checking in on each other and that I'm not doing this alone is so awesome and literally life changing! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

All in...
When I started this program (a mere three weeks ago) it was out of complete desperation. It seemed like such a drastic measure, but it had become clear that a drastic measure was what I needed. That first weekend, I decided that if I was going to do this, I was really doing to do it and make it work. So, I did something else pretty drastic (for me at least). I went through my entire closet and got rid of everything that was even a little too big, and everything that fit, but was out of season. By the time it's summer, my summer clothes are not going fit anyway. (I did keep the largest pants I've ever owned, for comparison when I reach my goal).
I also got rid of many of the things that were too small that I had been saving to wear again someday. The problem was that I'd been saving them for so long, that I didn't actually like most of them anymore. Plus, I decided that, when I need smaller clothes, shopping for them is going to an important part of my journey. One of my co-workers is about the same size as I am, so I gave her everything she had ever complemented me on. The rest I gave to Goodwill. It made me feel so free. It also allowed me to give in fully to the hope that committing to the Medi program has created in me. I gave a lot away, but I will never need those items again. I categorized what was left into sections in my closet. Clothes to wear now, clothes to wear in the near future, and a handful of things to wear someday. The great thing is that, after only 3 weeks, some of my "clothes to wear now" are too big. I'm already moving into the near future section. And exploring the use of belts. I had no idea that the future was going to that near. What prompted me to share all this is that, today, I took another step. I donated my favorite cocktail dress to a program that provides free prom dresses to girls who can't afford to buy one. I could do that because I know that, by the time I need to wear a cocktail dress, my favorite one won't fit me anymore and there will be a whole new world of non-plus sized cocktail dresses to explore. It was surprisingly hard (especially after the closet cleaning of two weeks ago!!). I guess that letting go of something that I really loved, makes the statement that I am moving forward and not looking back. Which is exciting, but also scary. The world of thin will be completely new territory for me. I still have a way to go until I get there, but for the first time, I really feel like I can make it. I've actually started checking out the window displays of the stores that don't carry plus sizes - which ones will I want to shop in? What will my style be? Am I Ann Taylor Loft? Or maybe Banana Republic? Anyway, I hope you all don't mind me sharing this with you. I feel the need to talk about my thoughts and journey, but most of my friends haven't experienced what I am experiencing. Of course, they've all offered to take me to their favorite thin people stores when it's time. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences in adjusting to your new size... |

Okay - so looking back at my entries, I realized that I am, at times, a bit wordy (especially for a newbie!!). Although, I will keep posting responses and questions here, I decided that some of my longer thoughts would be better placed in the blog section of this board.
![]() Anyway, it appears that blogs can be accessed by clicking on the blog entries number in a person's profile. I hope that some of you will have a look - any comments and support you provide would be greatly welcome on this journey. Although, my friends and family are supportive, they cannot truly understand what this experience is like. |

Collecting the stats as I go along. Good work everyone!
Especially to sshals: You must be a kindred spirit. And we must have been acquainted at some point long ago - if such things truly happen. You are mirroring my thoughts at exactly the same stage of the acute phase. And I did exactly the same thing you have done. I did it a little differently, taking the way too bigs to my local Buffalo Exchange. You may not have that particular facility near you, but we have them here in AZ. I took everything in and received cash for some of it and store credit for some of it. I purchased clothes to wear along my journey with the store credit. And...I am an Ann Taylor, Gap, Banana Republic gal. I also like Talbots on occasion. When I had other clothes left that I did not take in, I gave them to co-workers who had admired and complimented my clothes. I must say it is a little wierd to see my tees and slacks walking around on other people. And I realize as well, just how large I had become by seeing them. You have not told us your height but I notice that your starting weight was fairly close to mine. I hope you are journaling your thoughts along the way as well as your food journaling. You will find it extremely insightful when you go back and read it at a later date. You have the attitude this program requires. You are "in it to win it" and you most definitely are well on your way! ![]() Jo

Sshals, I concur with the others....and I too am sometimes wordy! It is soul cleansing and may inspire someone else. If someone doesn't wish to read it they can skip over. I haven't gone through my closets yet though I'm down 24 lbs. Since I'm a nurse and wear personal scrubs with the hospital's logo I have had various sizes over the past 10 years at this job and plan to get to the smaller sizes in the next few months. Thats a great idea to bless someone else with my uniforms! Funny thing, I won't be able to really see the old "me" walking around like Jo does with her former clothes. How inspiring that must be! I guess I could give some things away to friends at church when the time comes. As a mom I have always spent more $ dressing my daughters than I have myself, probably because of the uniform issue and not being happy with my body size. Both of my girls are fit and make good choices with their exercise and eating, thankfully. One is a newsanchor and one is in grad school planning to focus on specializing in teen girl and young womens eating disorders.
Susie and Jo: How does Medi keep the successful maintainers from making the food and exercise an obsessive focus? This way of eating is working for us but I'm curious if counseling in the office has considered this wrong turn of thinking? Health is my goal, not the exact dress size or number on the scale. |

I can totally relate to what you're feeling...especially when you read someone's stats and they started on or around the same date as you and they've lost more. Try to use it as a motivation to do everything you can that week to keep up...turn it into a positive. Love yourself. Love your body. Don't let doubt creep in. You're doing great. |

Hello all -
I'm rounding the curve of day 4 of week 1. So far I really love it! After doing every diet in the book, this is super easy so far. The best part is the simplicity and not having to be obsessed over meal plans, shopping lists, point counting, etc. I start TOM in 4 days though so I was pretty hungry today (and cranky... poor dh.) Also I unfortunately had a reaction to the B12 shot - it appears I have an allergy to the preservative. Really hope there is an alternative and it won't sabotage me. I'm so inspired by everyone here. I've been reading for the past 2 hours. Thanks so much for all your openness and honesty for newbies like me! Erin |
