I AM taking the omega supplements and have been since day 1 and it's still happening! Any other suggestions? Should I take more than the 3 daily recommended?

I'll have to try to get caught up on all of the threads, but life has gotten pretty full since I started getting out there and living it!Congratulations to all of the wonderful success stories!! I can't believe how terrific so many of you are doing- especially those of you that started with me around Christmas/New Year's. |

Ok guys I am 38 and have had 2 kids -I am on day 8 and weigh tomorrow for the first time. I have noticed some sagging of the skin in my abdomen and breasts. Is this going stay or in time will it diminish with time or excercise. I am still going to lose the weight for my health it is just nice to know what to expect. As you can see i have about 66 lbs to lose. Any advice

I also bought Mill Creek Conditioner. Reviews says that conditioner does not help. But I bought it anyway as it was not expensive. I thought it would not hurt. I just started this a few weeks ago, think it helps so far. Thought I would share this with you all. |

hair loss
Quote:
Quick weight loss diets, say professional dermatologists, often lack proper nutrition and rapid weight loss in itself can also trigger metabolism changes that affect hair growth. Vegan diets and high-protein diets like Atkins that initially discourage fruits and vegetables can result in hair loss. 1) Try to stay away from quick weight loss fad diets if you can. Use ones that promote healthy weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week. 2) Don't use radical hairstyles that pull your hair tightly on your scalp. 3) Take vitamins. If you only want or can afford one, make it a multivitamin with iron. Dermatologists say that they advise dieters to take a multivitamin with iron and keep the weight loss to a rate of 1-2 lbs per week. Those with a family history of thinning hair or baldness should be especially careful and use proper nutrition and a moderate rate of weight loss. Hope that helps some-make sure you are getting your vitamins! |

I don't know if I would do that. It is oil, after all? I know you've already told your clinic but I would press them and see if there's anything you can do NOW to stop this. I'll ask mine as well and see what they say on Tuesday! Hang in there - at least it's temporary and hair does grow! I switched to Cooper's Omegas which has more in it and doesn't have the preservatives or fish burps either. There are more mg as well.

Had my second weigh in today and lost 3.6 pounds. I am happy with that weight loss since I weighed in during the afternoon and last week weighed in first thing in the morning. But now I need to be better about working out. Hopefully that has an impact on next week's weigh in!

I have a question for the group. I'm heading out of the country for a weeklong vacation in Belize. I would like to stick to the diet as close as I can while I'm over there. Does anyone have suggestions of what I can pack in my suitcase foodwise to help me stay on the diet? I have a pack of the medifast bars and that's it so far. Still new to the diet so I have probably rotated 6 types of meals in the past two weeks and thats it, so any suggestion would be great!
Thanks and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! |

Scratch the question. I just noticed there was a whole thread devoted to MWL while travelling. Extremely helpful for those who are in the same boat as me!

Kristenb, Mom on a mission, CCCOX, SCGirlinFL, and lostenAustin - We had all started at about the same time....and I'm SO proud of all your success! For others reading this you can see that their success if really from dedication to the program, going weekly and biweekly to appts, exercising, etc! I have been inconsistent, but like DreamWarrior keep getting myself straightened out and working the program as best as I can with a crazy work and grad school schedule. HANG IN THERE! I weighed today at home and scale's down to 166.2, won't count til Monday. Aiming for 165 by then! Two days ago my husband started our gym membership so I need to get in there!
Go KANSAS STATE men's basketball! Whoo whoo! (my youngest daughter is a KSU grad)

Thanks for all the suggestions!
Regarding the hair loss...I will DEFINITETLY head out tomorrow to look for the Biotin and maybe discuss adding another mulitivitamin to my daily intake. I will keep everyone updated on whether it helps or not...fingers crossed
Here's to another great MEDI week! SCgirl |

Almost There!
I haven't posted in ages, but wanted to share I started in November of last year and have lost 43 pounds to date. I am 6 pounds away from my goal, but they seem to be the hardest to lose. I am finding that I have a bit less tolerance to be so strict with the carbs/calorie count the past few weeks.
I typically work out 6 days a week, burning around 400-500 calories - I feel like I have plateaued a bit... any advice? ![]() |

A good reason to stay on plan. I spent the weekend visiting with family. My Aunt is an amazing "southern" cook...Everything cooked with butter then covered with gravy.( No real grcery stores where I good buy medi friendly food for miles and miles and miles!!) My body is rebelling today. I just can't handle those rich foods anymore. I am glad to be home and back on plan.

Just like you I've been on and off due to grad school, FT work and my son's HS after school activities. Although starting March I've made a lot of changes and I'm very glad that I've lost 31lbs so far but I know I could have lost more. I'm not giving up and every day I keep pushing myself to do better. I'm doing very good with hitting the gym 5 to 6 times a week burning any where between 650 to 1050 calories. However when it comes to food, specifically sweets/desserts I'm really bad. I've made many changes to avoid them. For example at work in my aisle there's always food, every day and it's donuts, danishes, cookies, cake and candy. Every day is Halloween here! Now I try not to leave my cubical and if I have to use the restroom, walk down the other aisle that doesn't have all the food. I also started taking the AS (thought I get really bad migraines) by taking 1 before lunch and 2 for dinner since those are my weakness times. Made this change after reading SCgirlinFL post about her doing the same thing for the same reasons. A few days ago I read the post from Cori (CCCOX) about thinking that every time she has the desire to put something in her mouth she thinks that doing that will add another week to her goal and cost. All week I've been doing that, especially when I went out to dinner with a friend Saturday. my weight in is today so I will post later how much I've lost for this week.

Had my official weigh in and lost 4 lbs this week for total of 26 lbs gone! Plan to keep on plugging away. Talked to MWL doc about my concerns and says we'll discuss my goal once I reach about 146, maybe 140 will be to difficult to maintain with my insulin resistance. That just take a little pressure off....so now about 18 lbs from that mini-goal!
We also discussed "splurges." She says studies show that if you allow yourself a CONTROLLED splurge once a week you're more likely to not binge. Controlled means that you set up a date and time for it ahead of time, told yourself it was coming, allowed yourself to not let emotions be a part of it, and limited to a serving size. If it's a carb then you would want to pre-eat some protein first (i.e. stick of cheese) but that would be included in your protein calories that would still stay within plan for that day so that only the splurge is different than your usual day, but it's planned. This isn't recommended the first month or so of the program. A better alternative is to choose recipe makeovers like we have on this MWL thread that allow you to have something that won't trigger red flag overloads. I advise that you talk with your clinic about this for their advice since you're going somewhere differently than I am. To me, it just takes away the pre/and post guilt. I haven't lived it yet, but knowing this Sunday is a big day and we've got company coming makes me feel a little more relaxed about it. She recommended if you make something you share it with everyone and then get rid of the rest so it doesn't tempt you....but know that in a week you'll have another controlled alternative. Susie and Jo, what do you think about this? Debbie |

You might want to try to change it up. For example...if you are walking or running, try adding in minutes where you run or sprint to make your heartrate go up then down, up, down...this burns more calories longer. Also, you could add reps of strength training in your workout. Walk 15 min then do pushups...walk, then do situps...walk then do lunges, jump rope. You could also shake things up by biking, doing a video or rollerblading a few days during the week in lieu of your regular routine. You could also add in 20 min of strength training a few days a week including your cardio. Basically, ANYTHING to change up your regular workout. If you are doing this already...well then I have no idea |
