Using Dreams
All - Last night I had a dream (more like a nightmare) where I was eating all kinds of pasta and bread. In the dream when I realized what I was doing I was filled with dread. I looked down at the food and thought about all of the progress I had just erased. From what I understand people in recovery for alcohol or substance abuse problems call these "using dreams" where they will dream that they have slipped up and used their drug of choice. I was elated when I woke up and realized it was only a dream.
Has anyone else experienced this? Amy |

I had the same issue on Day 4 (Night of), I dreamt all night long about alphabet pasta and pop tarts. They were so good but I felt so awful. I had to call my husband in the morning to make sure I didn't cheat.

Me too, me too!!
At first I thought I was crazy. But it seems like every night or every other night I have a dream about eating the wrong foods (sweets) and trying to get them out of my system so I won't go out of ketosis. The dreams are so real!! It's crazy!!! Glad I'm not the only one.

LOL, it's funny that you bring this up.
Just last night I had a dream/nightmare where my husband kept forcing me to eat everything that I wasn't supposed to. I woke up in a panic, and I reached over and punched him in the arm! When I explained, he was very understanding, as he has been since I started MWL. I have actually had a couple other "using dreams" and I think they have actually helped to motivate me more! |

The night before last I dreamed I was munching down peanut butter M&Ms!!! They were SO GOOD but yes, I did wake up with that feeling of dread that wasn't fun. It was hard to shake it!
I had the same dreams when I quit smoking 10 years ago for good. |

Hmm.. I dream about eating bread. But I always enjoy the bread in my dream and when I wake up I feel happy that I got to eat bread without ruining my diet. How's that for strange?
