I'm back to being able to go on my walks
![]() ![]() On 3/8 I walked 5.25 miles, and yesterday (3/9) we walked the causeway.....just over 6 miles! My knees feel really good, but I iced afterwards anyway. I'm finiding I have to resist the urge to run! Just writing that makes me laugh! I'm the most un-athletic person I know, so it blows me away that I REALLY want to run!I'm doing week 1 again with Bill until he goes back to Bike Week this weekend I've started having something a little different for breakfast......I'm sure I read it on a thread somewhere. It sounded icky at first, but now I really like it! I mix low fat cottage cheese, with splenda (to taste), a couple drops of vanilla extract, and cinnamon (again to taste, and I like A LOT). Bill says this is more of a dessert for him, but sometimes I like something sweet for breakfast

Mary I just realized that we are the same height, have the same goal weight, started in the same month (April 2010), and both live in Florida.

EXCEPT that I'm more than a handful of years OLDER than you! YUCKYou've sure inspired me with your running......I have NEVER even wanted to run in the past and now it's really something I want to do! I just need to convince my KNEES that they're up to it! Since I'm not going to the clinic right now I've been stuck in the same weight range for MONTHS, but I can tell my body is getting leaner. I'm changing some of my "routines" in hopes I can get the scale moving again! |

Without having to read through the whole thread, does anyone know if anyone in maintenance ever really posted their daily food? Or no, because we all end up with different daily calorie amounts? Just feeling curious as to how others have eaten in maintenance. :-)

Hi Keri,
I would love to get some ideas about maintenance. Like you, my clinic DID talk about 40/40/20 but it was in combo with the many other things they were saying about maintenance and it was a busy appt. I was handed a packet. I'm so busy with grad school I truly didn't research the packet to the depth I should have, and I was sort of perturbed about my calorie limit for ME being only 1200 in maintenance and that I was still going to have to count calories! I was just so done with it all. Add on top of that that I went through the death of a pet, unable to jog here due to cold weather, holidays, upcoming wedding of my daughter, and grad school + work: explains why it WOULD have been good to have been counting calories and not add the lbs I have put back on, about 15 to 19 lbs over goal now! I would love it if folks wrote their maintenance plans/foods on this thread. I don't have the technology that you do (the ipad and apps), so it's not as easy to keep track of. I think for right now, my motivation is just finish the next 4 wks of school!!!

Mary and Lins - secretly (and maybe not so secretly) I've been envious of your being able to exercise outdoors most of the year! Great for you to take advantage of that opportunity! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!

Welllllllll, when you are able to go out in the cool of the morning, or evening, just think of us here sweltering in mid summer with the humidity. It's ALWAYS hot and sticky in the summer! I LOVE this time of year here!

Deb - I too am very jealous of Mary and Lins being able to exercise outside year round, I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the treadmill....love that it allows me to keep exercising in the winter, but it is definitely not like going outside!! I will try and post some of my daily menus on this thread, it will help me stay more accountable too!

Keri and Deb We've lived all across the country and I have to say each part of the country has something to love and something to hate about the weather! I grew up in Nebraska, and really THOUGHT we had humidity! (I KNOW we had wind....ALL the time) It's nothing like the humidity we have here in the summer! Guess it's the combination of the heat, the ocean being so close, and the salt in the air (from the ocean) that gives it a whole different feel. I think that's why it feels so bitter cold here at times in the winter too.
![]() Last summer while I read YOUR posts about exercising outside I was JEALOUS of both of you......We really had to time our treks outside to walk, to make sure it was early enough to be sort of coolish, but not too early so as to be eaten alive by mosquitos! These mosquitos are wicked......sprays only irritate them They ARE Florida's state BIRD you know!!![]() PLUS I'm SOOOOO allergic to them I plan on doing more swimming again once the water warms up!I'm STILL looking for a treadmill before it gets REALLY hot. 3/28/11 B-Coffee, 1 egg, 1 piece turkey sausage L-Beef Jerky, almonds, a few pork rinds, diet soda in the car on the drive home D-grilled fish, sauted cabbage no exercise today and not enough water......I'm sure thirsty and drinking a bunch tonight Last edited by Mary T8M; 03-28-2011 at 06:00 PM.. |

Help Please
Hello I asked this question in the March thread with no response, I am really struggling with Calories in and out still. I know many of you exercise daily but is there a calorie burn that you shoot for daily????
I mean if we are eating an average of 600 cal , do we try and X that out for a 600 cal burn or more or less?? ![]() Please Help ![]() Thanks , Tiffany |
