Hi Mary,
Did you notice I'm now 151 (up from my previous 148.6 lbs)....I'm admitting this because I was heading the wrong direction! You and I are both "older" and it's just not easy to add the carbs back in. BTW - I cannot get used to the consistency of eggbeaters, or egg whites. How do you fix 'em?
Thanks,
Debbie

When I first started Medi, I tried using the egg white ONLY type eggbeaters, and hated them , so I was adding a whole egg to whatever the serving amount of the egg white "stuff" was.....I'm WAY too cheap to just throw it out! Now I'm used to the ORIGINAL eggbeaters, so just scramble it, and eat. I used to just LOVE, love, love breakfast.....now instead of being all about the food, it's now that I NEED to eat. I really like many things that I would NEVER have taken a second bite of prior to Medi.
I eat REALLY fast (I've been trying to s-l-o-w down without much change) so that may help too , PLUS I almost always add either a little salsa, or LC ketchup, mustard, or hot sauce!
I'm still in the acute phase and trying to do it without the aid of the clinic (or their meds). Even going to the clinic, making that scale move has been a challenge especially once I got to 180ish, which I believe is a "comfort" weight that my body "liked".........then again when I got to 158....that was another "sticking point" for me. I'm HOPING (and praying ) that now that the scale is moving in the right direction again, it will be an easier process......at least for a while! I think it has to do with my age for sure, but for me at least, I have yo-yo dieted my whole adult life, and speaking frankly.....that really SCREWS up your body! I'm so hoping that my kids learned from watching my mistakes.

Mary, I agree that age and yo-yo dieting are such big factors and I so regret not taking this weight off and keeping it off before turning 50. I fell sad sometimes to realize that for the rest of my life that I'll have to really restrict my carb intake. But I got to the point where I hated the way that I looked that this was my only choice because Weight Watchers was painfully slow and I just didn't have the motivation to stick with it. I love medi because for once being over 50 didn't keep me from losing. I know that it's going to slow down but I pray it doesn't do that until I'm under 200. You have done so well and it definitely gives me encouragement.

Are you on maintenance? Why so many carbs?

Hi DreamWarrior,
Yes, I'm on maintenance. The ratio changed to 1 carb calorie: 1 protein calorie (So 480 carb calories/480 protein calories/240 good fat calories), so my calorie limit is supposed to be 1200 (per the breath test at the clinic) and some days eating my carbs triggers me to want MORE than what I'm allowed! I am in more control when I eat more protein. It's just been tough to tell myself to lose the add'l 14 lbs I put on since no longer running outdoors when I'm chilly even in my 70 degree home from loss of body insulation! I'm working on it...at least getting my exercise going again lately! Obviously you can see that 2/8/11 day was lack of planning lunch with the potatoes and gravy and carrots. I'd alloted myself the little pcs of dark chocolate, but emotional eating coupled with available left over 60% cacao dark chocolate wasn't a good mix in the evening. Realistically, there are just some foods I cannot have around, again!

Hi Debbie,
I am sort of new here; started a few weeks ago and have been posting on the Week1 thread and lurking here for any and all helpful info! You are a real inspiration! Hope I can do as well as you have! It's been slow going for me since I am also "older" and I think my metabolism is just plain ole tired out!

Anyway, just jumping in since I eat eggbeaters often and I either add cut up canadian bacon OR I take the meat out of a couple of links of turkey breakfast sausage and brown that and then add the eggbeaters. It's really good! I am still afraid of cheese at this point and not even sure I am allowed it, but that might also make the eggbeaters a little more palatable. I wouldn't eat them for the longest time, but compared to eggs, it's a good deal!

Thanks for the thumbs up about eggbeaters, Katie. I might try what Mary recommended (not going right for the egg white version first), combined with your meat ideas! And, you too can get to goal! I was actually at some time up to about 192 prior to starting MWL, and lost 53 lbs. I went at my own pace and didn't try to make myself lose to goal all at once, for several reasons.

2-10-11
B - Kashi fiber cereal with cinnamon
L - Tequila Lime chicken wings (2), diet Dr Pepper
S - pistachios
D - large salad of romaine, tomatoes, avacado, sunflower seeds, craisins, turkey, cheese, and 3 saltines
S - sugarfree pudding
E - none

You and me both! At least we're back to our plan, and NOT beating ourselves up! In the past that kind of mentality is what always did me in.....IF I wasn't perfect (and who is?) I'd give up, and go back to bad eating habits.......NO MORE! I'm worth it! I'm getting healthy, both physically and mentally! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE

Soooo glad to have not gotten a lecture from anyone Its true sometimes in the past I would just feel so bad about it, I would say..."Oh well, I am just meant to be a fatty." Like you said..."I am worth it"
