I had to search to find the one I used and it WAS that one. It definitely has potential if it was just a little more moist. I'll tweek it.

Yeah, two weeks worth! It was a nice visit and it actually (cough) wasn't so bad like I thought it would be. It did limit my exercise at times because she was staying in our spare room/aka my gym...I still managed to get in at least 3 or 4 days a week but that makes me feel like it's not enough when I'm used to 5-6 days. I plan to kick it into high gear again this week because of Thanksgiving. I work in the morning for a couple hours on Thanksgiving anyway and plan to go run before we go to my moms to eat....we'll see if that actually happens or not.

Yesterday was as follows:
b-yogurt, banana
s-string cheese and green apple
l-veggie dogs and celery with lc cheese
s-energy crunch stuff from kroger...it has almonds, dried edamame, misc other nuts, cranberries and dark chocolate. soooo good. I had to put it away to keep myself from eating the whole container.
d-low carb pita with spinach, cucumber, tomato, feta, "chikn" and walden farms italian dressing
s-gingerbread cookie x 2
exercise, weights only today-25 minutes

Tweeking is GOOD! BTW Have you used VITAL Wheat Gluten in anything you've made? IF so, does it fit in with Medi? I saw recipes that used it, the same time I saw this cinnabon recipe. I'm trying to branch out a little.

I haven't but I am wondering the same thing. I think it would fit in to maintenance but I'm not sure.....seems interesting. I might buy some next time I shop and try it out for experimentation purposes

I saw some at Winn Dixie the other day, and thought I'd buy it just to practice with! A lot of other people doing LC programs use it.

I ended up ordering TVP online. I originally bought it at Walmart, but now they aren't carrying it any more. I'll try to shop more in Jacksonville while I'm up there for Thanksgiving.

Yes it seems to be 100% again, and for that I'm very thankful . We brought our walking shoes with us to Jacksonville......it'll be a big change walking in a neighborhood (we live out in the country, and have to walk on the lumpy country roads)
I did forget our protein powder..DARN At least I remembered our supplements this time! It's always something! LOL
We have SO much to be thankful for, and it's GREAT to be here with both of our children, and their families. Our daughter-in-law had what we're hoping is her LAST round of Chemo last week. It was the WORST yet, and she's still not feeling very well. BUT now the healing can start!
Our grandson (son and DIL's baby) has 5 teeth! 10 yr old grandaughter got a writing award in school, and a ride in a limmo with the school Principal.
DS got a huge promotion at work that will start after the first of the year.
DD has applied for a new job working at the ZOO! It would actually fit her college degree, and would be a happy place to work.....PLUS no more 12 hr nights!
We're still waiting to hear if DH got his job.....I BELIEVE he did, hearing the news is just a formality.
DH, and I are both down to a MUCH healthier weight, and even though there have been "negatives" (DH losing his job) the "positives" FAR outweigh them!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Everyone

Vital Wheat Gluten is about 75% protein. It does have some carbs (6g per 1/4 cup), but typically recipes only use a tablespoon or two per recipe. It gives bread great elasticity and loft, and unfortunately, my son can't eat it at all. I've since cut it out since he got one of those Celiac genes from me.

One tip if you're working with gluten powder - make sure that your hands are dry. It'll turn in to instant glue otherwise. It's very easy to see why some people have problems digesting it.

Question of the day! I am about to run out of my fat burner and was trying to decide if I should continue to use it. It's kind of expensive.... and I'm stretched as it is financially to continue Medi (But it's worth it!!).
Just curious if anyone has had success with not using them, and/or used a cheaper brand of fat burner (maybe a natural substitute?) Hope that makes sense!!! Happy day after Thanksgiving.... gotta' be honest... I'm GLAD it's over!!

The first time I did medi, I lost a total of about 35lbs and was only about 10lbs from my goal weight and I didn't use fat burners at all. I tried taking them for the first week, and had horrible stomach issues with them, so my clinic told me to just go off them. I was worried at first but, I still averaged 3-5lbs weekly and did really well on the program. I'm back on now, and still not taking them, and I'm doing fine so far this time too. However, my clinic did tell me that if I'm not going to take the fat burner I need to be sure to workout, and I did. Make sure to do a mix of cardio and weights, the weight training will help the fat burning. Hope this helps, goodluck

Mary- I know, me and you are the only ones that have posted in days. I hope your headache gets better. I had a bad one last night too. By the way what brand is the SF apple cider, where have you found it?

12/1
B-laughing cow cheese and 2 eggs
L- 2 2oz swedish meatballs
D- 4.5oz shredded chicken and mild italian turkey sausage
S- baked apple with splenda and cinnamon (delicious, found the recipe in the desserts thread)

I did go a little off track yesterday, I'm a manager at Talbots, and we keep bite size peppermint patties out for the customers during the holidays, and I finally broke down and ate one yesterday, but the bigger problem was that it was sooooooooo delicious that I ate another one But, I'm still in ketosis, and I looked at the nutrition facts and it was really only 100 extra calories for both of them. So it was kind of worth it

My headache was FINALLY gone this morning! I broke down and took the medicine I have for Migraines. I HATE taking it because it's always a decision as to which makes me feel worse.....the headache or the cure!

I use Alpine Spiced Apple Cider Instant Drink MIX......it's NOT the real thing but works OK when you want something hot and different. It has 15 calories and 4 carbs. I bought mine at WinnDixie Grocery store, but I think Walmart carries it too. It's not by the other drink mixes like Crystal Light, but is by the tea, instant coffee, and cocoa mixes

12/1/10
B-Coffee, 1 egg
L-Turkey with FF Miracle whip and SF bread & butter pickles
S-Celery with peanutbutter
D-Chili with WW cheese

NO exercise

I've been ICU nurse all day with one of my 17-year old indoor only cats; he has been well until suddenly short of air Tues, grunting resp, hasn't eaten in 3 days and last drank yesterday. He got IV fluids today as I sat with him at the vet office for 6 1/2 hours. Repeat chest xray shows worsening pulmonary interstitial disease compared to Tues evening's chest xray; given a second antibiotic injection and second steroid injection. The plans were to take him in again tomorrow for more IV fluids, I didn't want him to stay there overnight, away from his family and with strange animals, getting stressed and already having trouble breathing. After that is when doc took 2nd xray and saw that lungs looked worse, rather than better from Tues and said it's a bad prognosis. I'll sleep on recliner couch with him tonight. He's alert and sitting up but tired, no energy, and still purrs. Breathing is a little labored. Family upset, but so thankful for God's blessing of having him in our lives, and us in his. Probably deciding to let him go tomorrow. Concerned for how his brother, our other 17-year old cat, will do--two years ago he was diagnosed with onset of kidney disease, but so thankful that diet and drinking lots of water has improved his creatinine. Don't want him to stop eating and drinking if he starts mourning loss and lose him too. For those of you that are animal lovers, especially Charlene, I know you'd want to know and that you'll be praying.

I haven't exercised in about 2 weeks. Mostly only eating when I'm hungry, but still at least bkft, lunch and supper.

Debbie- I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. They really are family, I can't even imagine how I would handle this if it was my dogs. You will be in my prayers.

Mary- Thanks for the apple cider info. I'll have to try it out. I'm normally a huge coffee drinker, but I love creamer so I've been staying away from it for medi. But, last night at the grocery store I found one of those Maxwell house international delights instant coffees. It was a sugar free low calorie vanilla latte one, and it's delicious. I do it with 6oz water and a tsp of instant coffee for some extra flavor. It's only 30 calories and 2 carbs. Just like the apple cider it's not the real deal, but close enough.

I wont even post yesterdays food, went a little off track at night and don't remember exactly what I ate or how much. But, weighed myself at home and still down in wieght, and I'm still in ketosis. I am determined to stay on track today and workout

12/3
B- One egg and 2oz turkey kielbasa

Planning
L-15 shrimp with 1tbsp cocktail sauce
S- string cheese
D- 5.5oz shredded chicken and italian turkey sausage
1 cup salad and 1/4 of a small apple w/ raspberry salad spritzer
S-1 medi almond cookie

calories- 590 and about 19 carbs

And planning to do 30 minutes on the elliptical, then some weights.

Kelly

Thank you friends. We were at the vet at 0750 and they opened at 0800. He weakly meowed once to the vet to tell him hello, unafraid (and usually was a 'scaredy cat'), but we'd been all day yesterday there and he knew he was helping him. Vet gave wonderful advice about what to do with other cat adjusting. He seems to be doing well and was even playful this evening. He's been eating and getting lots of loving from us. Of the two, I think he'd be the one to have fewer adjustment problems, so it's going to work out I think. His marker is one we got at a nursery today, "In memory of a faithful friend and companion" and has two kitty paw prints. Perfect! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers today, over and over I felt like God was allowing timing of things all day. Closure and peace.....17 years is a long time! This is the first death for me in my family, other than aunts and grandparents who lived far away. I don't know how I'd have handled this without knowing that the Lord was with me, and that Scout had been a gift to us all these years. Sorry to go on and on. I'll be fine, and it's wonderful to have such supportive friendships here. Love you all!

Oh, Debbie, I'm so sorry. I have been so busy but had to reply to this. Hopefully your other cat will do well. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. My old man cat is 18 now and not slowing down, however, last christmas (christmas morning to be exact), I had to euthanize my 9 year old for kidney failure (after a series of infections, etc.) and it was heartbreaking. I'm trying not to think about what's to come with my old guy. I hope your family is doing well through this. So sorry.

Kelly- while I only drink one HUGE cup of coffee in the morning I have to "doctor" it just like I did pre-medi. I use CoffeeMate Sugar Free Liquid Creamer. AND I use Splenda. Some times I use DaVinci sugar free flavorings in place of the Splenda. My center told me this is OK even in Acute. My only complaint is that Coffee Mate only makes 2 flavors in SF that I like......they actually make 3 but the vanilla carmel is ! They have so many yummy sounding flavors in "regular" creamer, I wish they made at least a few of the seasonal ones in SF

My latest coffee concoction is a mocha blend - 1 10 oz decaf with half a scoop of the Big Train low-carb hot chocolate powder that Netrition sells, and a splash of coconut creamer. It is SO yummy. It tastes like such a treat. I've been using it to stave off the late-night munchies.
