Addendum 10/1/10
Ate the almonds about 4pm. Not hungry yet for supper at 6pm so went jogging first--did my 2 1/2 miles in 30 mins (usually do in 35 to 38 mins but today I took timer and ran faster for 1 min then jogged my usual pace for 2 mins, and 3 times I did the running for 2 mins in a row). You know how you work hard and feel like you're going to puke? I felt that way when I was almost done and afterward, then realized my blood sugar was probably low and so I ate 3 large green grapes and an oz of sharp cheddar cheese. By the time the pork chops were done cooking I didn't get to eat them (and my wine) til about 8:45! Now I'm up for hours...ENERGY! Should be working on my paper that's due Sunday evening....

Lea--horray! You're doing your interval training now too! I'm glad you're feeling better to be able to do that, it takes a lot of discipline to get back into exercise when you have to stop because of physical pain and get out of habit. I'm proud of you Girlfriend!!
And cute avatar! You're going back to blondish-brown again, huh?! Did you write up your testimonial yet? I turned my in last Monday. We're going to have such a fun day the 8th! Sounds all "girly!"

Mary - I too like those SF bread and butter pickles! Been a while since I've eaten 'em.
Pork rinds - I had a time a couple months ago where I got in a kick of eating them too....just wanted something crunchy!

Thanks for the pre-birthday wishes. How long has it been since I've approached a birthday without a sense of impending doom!?! This one is a celebration for sure!

let me squeeze today in real quick.
b-greek yogurt with blueberries and 1/2 cup oatmeal with splenda and cinnamon
l-think thin protein bar
s-big pickle, 1/4 or less of my sons soft pretzel
d-souper salad for dinner, starving: salad with ff italian, 1/4 c cheese, 1 hard boiled egg, cottage cheese, gazpacho salad
s-almonds

No "official" exercise but we went to the state fair today and were walking around for about 6 hours. My legs are like jello. I felt so proud because anyone that knows about the Texas State Fair knows that it's all about the deep fried food. I ate my protein bar while we were sitting in traffic to get there and then when I DID get hungry I had one of those big pickles and a diet coke....I caved by eating a "curve" of my sons huge soft pretzel but it wasn't even equal to 1/4 of the whole thing. I just count it as 1/4 cause I figure it's better to overestimate. My biggest win of the day came from the salt water taffy stand. I stood in line, drooling over the banana taffy...and then when there was only one person in front of me in the line, I got outta line and said nevermind. It wasn't worth it. If I'm gonna blow it and eat a bunch of candy, I'm gonna eat twizzlers (I didn't)! I haven't eaten a Twizzler since going on Medi...pretty much the longest time in my entire life (since at least age 10) that I've gone without twizzlers. Anyway, just had to share my little victory.

Now THAT is something to brag about! Good for you! I'd have a very hard time, not getting my favorite corn dogs! I LOVE state fairs! I wanted to go to the Texas state fair when my sister in law lived there, and we were visiting her at the right time, but she was sick so we didn't attend. Now she lives with us.....the Florida state fair is in Febuary. I haven't gone very many times, but attend the Strawberry Festival instead.....that will be a tough one, since every thing is strawberry.....shortcake, malts, ice cream........maybe I'll miss it in 2011

Good job Charlene! You are such an example to all of us! Personally I probably would have had a piece of the banana salt water taffy. It's only once a year. And, you know twizzlers are a red flag for you. JMHO I know I cannot be unrealistic that at goal I will always say no to all things. But I will say yes more often to healthy things!! (You can see that's it's probably a good thing I've become allergic to high fructose corn syrup!) Ate a little regular BBQ sauce on my pulled pork sandwich today and about 7 - 8 mins later had irregular heartrate, belching, slight mucus changes in throat..lasted about 30 mins. I see a different allergist 10/14 and will get the answers I need for sure.

the problem with the taffy was not actually the taffy, itself...but the fact that you had to buy a whole box.....I probably would have eaten one or two pieces if that option was available but if I had a whole box, I would have eaten at least 3/4 of it myself. That's my problem....as long as I don't have the availability of a large quantity of something, I'm ok...but once there is a mass amount...I'm screwed. Like today, at work, I had another moment of weakness. A rep brought in a HUGE thing of assorted cookies...and there were only three of us working. They were really small, bite sized cookies. I'm not even a huge cookie fan...I'm more of a PURE SUGAR (twizzlers, haha) kinda girl but I decided I would have just one. Well, these happened to be the most delicious oatmeal raisin cookies I have ever tasted....and throughout the day I ate five. I probably only did about 300 calories worth of damage because they were so small...but lots of unneccessary sugar. oh well, at least they were freakin' tasty!

breakfast-yogurt w/kashi
s-string cheese
l-tofurky and a small apple
s-2 of the cookies and one about an hour later....and 1 and a half in the car on the way home...which I count as two.
d-"chikn" salad, greens beans and 1/4 flatout wrap.
s-pb protein ball
35 minutes on elliptical, abs, legs, extra hard on the legs to make up for the cookies

turns out we're going again on saturday. i just love the whole enviroment. I'm usually pretty good about not eating many of the fair foods....last year I tried the "fried snickers bar" and was really disappointed. I wanted to try to fried guacamole this year but I think I'm just not emotionally ready for that yet. i need to make sure i am "stable" before i start endulge in more calorie rich things. I try to endulge a little bit, often....at least lately....rather than a huge eat-a-thon once in awhile...I'm just scared since I packed on twenty pounds in 2 years because I just didn't pay attention to my portions and got a little too free with my eating. ugh. I'm sure most people on here can relate.

Char - I love oatmeal raisin cookies! And especially if they are free. Good resolve, girlfriend! You enjoyed but had control. I mean, you didn't knock the other 2 out of the way enroute to the cookie box and upend the box to get every crumb did you?! Ha! I need to go to bed soon....it's late!

I've been walking on the road daily.....and even jogged a bit, and that's a NEW thing for me......EVER! Today I've decided to take the day off from the "road". I've been sticking to the program to a 'T', and weighed on my home scale this morning. I was happy to see that I've dropped a couple of pounds. I have several errands to do, and will meet a friend to shop for fabric. She wants my help with her first sewing project! We made jam a couple weeks ago. She's turning into a real "Susie Homemaker"! Next I'll have to teach her to make soap! I'm sure we'll go for lunch.
I'm SO happy that I can be with people and around foods that I'm personally not eating, and not be bothered! I'm at a REALLY good place right now! I have to give credit to the support I get from this board.

Eating was mostly good choices today but it was also student's last days of this clinical rotation--chocolate. Had the equivalent of less than a 1/2 of a regular candy bar. Enough to have had "some" but not indulgent.

Exercise - jogged 2 mins followed by running 2 mins intervals for my 2 1/2 miles...legs were JELLO when I was done! Hubby had gone on his fast paced walk with me as I did this and several times he had to RUN to catch up to ME!!! He said this evening he needs to quit smoking or quit running, one or the other! I hope it's the former.

Plan for today:

B- Smoothie with Medi chocolate powder, 1-1/4 cup strawberries, and Splenda
L- seasoned chicken breast over spinach, w/ italian salad spritzer and a sugar-free bread and butter pickle
D- small sirloin with onion and melted Laughing Cow cheese on top
S- SF orange jello w/ FF cool whip

My counselor this week asked me to make a very detailed food log this week to see exactly how I prepare my protein. The point is to not have the same "meal" more than once or twice, and to try some new preparations and recipes this week. I am kind of stuck in an easy food rut (processed meats, cheese, premade protein shakes, etc...), and need to get out of it so I can stick to the plan much easier : )

There is no way I will write down all that I ate this weekend and especially today!
Tomorrow will be a Medi-like day! (Even though my parents came in for a surprise visit today that I only found out about yesterday AM!) I need to be a good example here. I told my parents I am back to my weight when DH and I married, 139 lbs. Dad says mom is 80 lbs more than we they married, and I know she was between 98 and 100 lbs at the time and 5'. So, some education and example is in the plans for this week, with love!

What the hell is going on here? I weighed myself just now which I shouldn't have done because it's night time, I worked out, ate all day and on top of that I'm a little...stopped up. My scale said I've gained 6 pounds since last week!! I'm not believing any of this until I re-weigh in the morning and again on tues. The only thing I have eaten in the last couple weeks that was bad or whatever is the dreaded cookie expansion of 2010 last week and a piece of pumPkin bread about three days ago. It's like I gained sympathy weight from being around my husband at the fair, since he was eating all kinds of fried crap. Ugh. I shouldn't have even gotten on the scale because every bit of my confidence is shot. Protein only tomorrow!
Today:
B-cm yogurt and a peach
S-string cheese
L-vegie dog x2, cottage cheese
S-string cheese, pistachios
D-one small lc wheat tortilla, seitan, tomato, tiny bit of avocado
Dessert-atkins bar with ff whipped cream
Sixty minutes on bike, legs, abs

I'm sure most of it is from weighing in the evening. I'd never be so brave to try that. Me? First thing in the AM nekked after BR break!

I have been doing really great coasting on this plan, BUT....the farm in Zellwood just opened for corn season! This is a problem, fresh corn is my FAVORITE food, and I can't deny myself this! I know it is not on "the plan", but what do you guys think? I know the carbs are through the roof, but we don't have a lot of good food in Florida (as in, real food...that grows in the ground). If I look forward to the weekend and "cheating" on my diet with a fresh, plain, ear of corn, is that so bad? I'm not in ketosis ever, and isn't the fact that I am craving VEGGIES as a special treat instead of pizza or something junky (which, I had a bite of Pizza Hut this past weekend so I could take my meds- nothing else available at the time to eat- and I thought it was NASTY) a a victory?

Just wondering what someone else would think of the situation...my clinic would tell me to throw it away, ha! I am staring at the bag and drooling as we speak, lol!!

I have been scared of corn. I never ate it in acute, never in transition and still won't eat it in maintenance....I also love corn....especially roasted corn. Yum. That is, perhaps, one reason I don't eat it....because I wouldget carried away. If it was a choice between corn and cake...corn would probably be the healthier bet. Not sure but I'm interested to see if anyone has tried it without effects....

I'm stuffed. I counted and recounted and I think I have only eaten 710 calories today - only 450 in protein and I'm full. How can this be when some days I could really eat 710 calories in one sitting and still want more?

B - turkey sausage
L - salad, string cheese, jello w/ f/f topping
S - carrots, strawberries, ham and cheese
D - shrimp, yogurt, strawberries, jello w/ f/f topping (I know, twice today)

I've got to be forgetting something. I'm afraid it's something big!!

Bike - 30 minutes

Charlene, I like your little legs, little arms, lotta abs! I'm going to try to remember to take some hand weights to work with me so I can do arms on a break. It's been hard to get the resistance training in at home.
