Charlene, do you use any of the TVP (textured Vegetable protein)? My daughter suggested I try it as a substitute for oatmeal, She has a crock pot recipe. I bought some, but now don't quite know what to do with it......I'm not in the mood for oatmeal right now. This package says it is 80 calories for 1/4 (DRY), with 0 fat, 12g of protein, and 7 g of TOTAL carbs (4 g of fiber)

IF you use it, would you post HOW you use it?

3.4 miles brisk walking outside
B 1/2 C eggbeaters 2 slices turkey bacon 110cal
L 1 turkey Italian sausage 140 cal
S LC cheese 35 cal
D 4 oz VERY tough lean beef 220 cal

8-16-19 Monday
B - 2 slices ham/slic provolone cheese
L - walnuts
D - steak, asparagus, a few ww pita chips before jog

Exercise - Didn't PLAN to do this, but was going to jog as hubby walked, let him have a head start and I came out a couple mins later. I ended up jogging for 35 mins STRAIGHT (2 - 2 1/2 miles)! There is no way I would have done that, I just kept thinking I would be seeing him around the turn, ok, the next turn...Then I walk/jogged (mostly walked) another 2 mins home.

I actually haven't used the dry kind very much since I've been on this plan, just because I haven't hard much time. I used to use it in ALL sorts of things. I would just rehydrate it and use it in eggs, lettuce wraps, spaghetti sauce, pretty much any kind of thing you would use ground beef in. I also like it plain with a little seasoning....but I must warn you, if you are eating it, I would advise that you take some beano before you eat it. Especially if you're not used to it. That is the case with most vegetarian protein sources, unfortunately. I googled the TVP oatmeal. Never made that but it sounds yummy. I'm going to pick some up at the store after work tonight!! I usually buy the regular, hydrated TVP which is made by Morningstar, Boca or Quorn just because it's pretty much heat and eat. Hope that helps.

D - hebrew national hot dogs, yogurt

tons of water. NO ALMONDS. NO PEANUT BUTTER. NO WHIPPED CREAM.

Splitting headache, so had a diet dew. Might even have another.
Went to the doctor today for my TMJ and I'm being referred on to someone else because I might need surgery. This information does not thrill me at all, but I can't take the pain anymore. He prescribed some pain stuff - muscle relaxer - but I'm nervous about taking it. I don't really like that altered feeling. Probably why I'm not a drinker!

Debbie, you look fantastic and your family is gorgeous!

I have been MIA for a few days because of lots of obligations and a sick little one. I usually try to post from my phone but haven't even had time for that lately. I don't know where everyone else is....they don't love us anymore.

8/19/10 (Thurs)
B-protein shake w/strawberries
S-1/2 detour protein bar
L-"chikn" cutlet and laughing cow cheese with celery
S-1/2 protein bar
D-protein pancake
slightly over in calories
35 minutes on elliptical
abs, legs

8/20/10 (Fri)
MISSED MY APPT due to above mentioned sick child....I did break down and weight myself on Friday and I have only lost around 1/4 pound...
B-CM yogurt
L-protein shake
S-almonds
D-egg whites and FF cheddar
no official workout today

8/21/10 (Sat)
B-cottage cheese with blueberries
S-PB2
L-protein shake
S-more PB2 (trying to stay away from so much "real" peanut butter)
D-egg whites with 3 slices of tofurky and FF cheddar
Bike for 45 minutes, arms, abs

So far today and the plan for the remainder of the day:
B-CM yogurt
S-string cheese
Future:
L-EAS shake or 16 veggie pepperonis with LC cheese
S-string cheese
D-"chikn" cutlet

I am going to do a few days of week one since I want to lose these last few pounds before my next appt. I was allowed the cm yogurt and cheese from week one since I don't do meat. Hopefully it works because for whatever reason, I sure am feeling puffy today....and yesterday.

Charlene,
You made me smile and then pout when you wrote "they don't love us anymore!" I need my MWL girlfriends!

8/22/10
B-Pure Protein PB bar
L-fajitas, 2 small tortilla--avoided the restaurant chips and salsa completely
S-diet Sprite w/ strawberries
D-romaine and spinach salad w/blackberries/strawberries/tomatoes/avacado/a few croutons
S-walnuts

I'm sure I overdid the carbs today. I've been rebeling because tomorrow (I think) I'm going to commit to the new way of eating per my allergist. I just had to go shopping today for the food. I'm not allowed to have milk, milk/whey/cheese/etc so I think I'll have eggs and toast in the AMs alternating with pork chops.

I use one serving of protein powder (Aria brand)
2 tbsp Walden Farms Syrup
1/4c egg beaters whites
little bit of vanilla
cinnamon
Stir it up and cook it. I use I can't believe it's not butter spray in the pan. It can get messy. You have to make sure you let it brown on one side before attempting to flip it. I poke holes in it with a spatula as it cooks and then flip it ever-so-carefully. It takes awhile to perfect the technique.

I love the accountability of this thread! So here's my first entry:

B: egg whites & veggie sausage
S: protein shake with unsweetened light soymilk
L: cottage cheese and veggie turkey
S: think thin protein bar
D: probably going to be some veggie chicken
50min of Insanity workout and a lunchtime pilates class

Thanks for all of your inspiration during my first week!

today:
b-protein shake w/pb2
s-string cheese
l-cm yogurt
s-string cheese again
d-egg whites and ff cheddar
s-peanut butter
I have noticed I get on kicks off eating a certain thing all the time and then I switch to something else for awhile....right now, it's string cheese, which worked well when I first started so hopefully adding it back frequently instead of something else well have a similar effect. I am hoping for like 132ish on friday at my weigh in...actually, I'm wishing for 130 but I'm being realistic.
Will works out 45 minutes on bike pending any calls in to work, abs and arms

Debbie, wow! You look fantastic, and your family is equally as gorgeous. It is so nice to put a face to your posts.

Charlene and Debbie, check out the August thread to see where I've been. I still love you! and I've missed being here. Still eating on program, just no time to post. Weigh-in tomorrow. Now that major fundraiser is over, and I'll have ONLY full-time job, vacation to pack/plan for, high school reunion committee , maybe I'll get back in to post my food/exercise!
