Wanted to share this with my Medi buddies: In addition to working full-time and working on my high school reunion, I'm working on a huge fundraiser weekend, for which I am responsible for all of the food in the hospitality suite! I am soliciting donations of barbecue and subs, will be buying bagels, muffins, juice, snack food (ALL bad carbs), etc. for 250 people who will be eating and drinking and partying all weekend. People are bringing cookies, brownies, dips, cakes, homemade breads, etc, and they will all be under my nose the entire weekend (2 weeks away). This will be a major test for me, and of course, I took it on before starting this. I will have to have lots of strength and willpower, as well as all of my Medi food in my hotel room. In the past, I would have spent a lot of time scarfing down all of this stuff, and now that I don't want it and can't have it, it will be in my face all weekend. I'm looking at it as a major test that I WILL pass.![]() |

You girls are having GREAT weekly losses with even your PB indulgences! I just don't know if I'm ready for that former red flag food myself yet. Plus, I think it's going to be one of the things allergist says no to, and I'm not missing it right now so I'm not restarting that slippery slope yet! I'm not judging....I'm totally in awe that you are staying at 100 to 200 calories of it or less and walking away! I'm proud of you!!
8-3-10 B - carbmaster's vanilla yogurt w/ 1/3 c craisins and about tbsp of slivered almonds (at 1/3 before bike ride, the rest after bike ride) S - string cheese L - Atkins shake D - 1/2 chicken breast (fried from Dillons) but I took the skin off, 1/3 c mashed potatoes (hey! that doesn't count as a veggie...:P) S - 1 1/2 Tblsp cashews w/ wasabi flavoring (youchie! yum!) Exercise - 2 - 2 1/2 mile bike ride on hilly course, stood up a little more freq than first bike ride Sunday....feeling the burn in quads!

I miss this place.
I too have been swamped. I have several promotions going on with work and holidays are just around the corner. What does that mean? I'm sitting... a lot. So I'm having to REALLY watch what I'm putting in my mouth and figure out how to move my body more. Sitting so much is how I gained 40 pounds. Still holding at 125. Every time I leave the house for a few days, I gain 3 lbs. but then it's relatively easy to lose what I'm sure is water weight. The last time was a little scary because the cravings didn't go away and my mindset was funky. I pretty much said "to heck with it" and ate... and ate... and ate. In 3 days, I gained 3 lbs. WOW. It's gone now fortunately. I have so far to go with maintenance. It's hard to see myself as successful unless I am in the process of losing. I miss the high of watching the scale go down. I guess this is a post for the maintenance thread but... this is my favorite spot so I rambled. <3 Yesterday's food: B: yogurt, coffee S: cappuccino (non fat) L: string cheese, chicken sausage S: sugar free ice cream bar, turkey pepperoni, cow cheese, choc covered soy nuts (Finally found them! YUMMM!) D: fajita chicken over mixed greens, wine, 5 of my son's french fries - lol S: yogurt w/ about 1/4 t of sf chocolate chips mixed in calories: 1350 carbs: 50g

I will be hitting two months on Saturday and I weigh in on friday....I'm hoping for at least a couple pounds...I'd like to hit twenty pounds by then but I don't know what to expect. I wanted PB this morning but it's a new jar so it would take too much effort for me to stir and and everything so I'm gonna try to go as long as I can without opening it. |

Hi Team!! I love my "behavior buddies"! Excited because all along I was hoping to be at goal of 145 by today when leaving for vacation and then lowered it to 137. I'm six lbs from that "final" goal! Scale at home this AM said 143, I got on it 4 times in a row just to make sure! That's my lowest in SO, SO long (probably about 14 years!). I'm excited to surprise my oldest daughter Saturday when she sees me for the first time since Christmas, now 47 lbs lighter!!!! I give her a lot of credit for inspiring me to even attempt to jog and bike after so many years...She's going to be in the Sylvannia Triathalon in Ohio on Sunday, her first full triathalon. Say a prayer for her because she's concerned about the run after doing the full swim and bike route!! She's not planning to actually compete, but just complete it all and survive. It's a 1.5K swim followed by a 40K bike ride followed by a 10K run. Wow! If you want more info PM me and I'll send you the link!
Erin....YOU are doing amazing. Just remember how it USED to be. You've come a long way baby! I'm so proud of all of us! Go TEAM! ![]() Last edited by Fit2010; 08-04-2010 at 08:30 AM.. |

I'm still struggling too. I'm working out harder than ever and adding new things every day, but my calorie totals have been up again for the last two days. I'm already at 1,200 for today, 750 from protein. I'll have to have something for dinner tho it shouldn't be much.
B - turkey sausage L - yogurt, blueberries, cottage cheese, hot dog S #1 - peanut butter, beef jerkey, almonds, PB2 S #2 - apple, peanut butter, the rest of the 100 calorie almond pack, jello I bet I've had 500 calories from peanut butter alone. I'm not buying it anymore. I just can't resist it and it's too high in calories for the portion. Chicken breasts and salmon here I come! 45 minutes on the bike

Late breakfast-EAS shake (110)
L-cottage cheese (110) S-string cheese and veggie dog (110) D-egg whites and ff cheddar (150) S-almonds (100) last night I think I over did it on exercise or something....I only did 35 on elliptical, crunches and arms but then when I had some free time I hopped on the bike for about 25 more minutes and I got the WORST leg cramp last night and my right calf and shin has been so sore all day....I'm thinking I might need to rest it for a day and do a better job of stretching from now on.

My scale at home said 137 this morning, I don't go weigh-in until Friday, so it's possible that I may hit 135 (my home scale is always higher than the medi scale), which was my original Medi goal. I can't belive I'm almost there. It's shocking!

B-Carb Master yogurt, blueberries S-all that peanut butter L-Protein shake S/D-deli chicken, grabbed on the way out to an out-of-town funeral home visitation (second in a week) Late supper-DH wanted to stop at McDonald's, on the way home. I thought that the angus wrap, unwrapped, with mushrooms and cheese would be better than a salad, since I didn't have dressing with me. OMG! I cannot believe all of the fat that's in fast food! Inside of this thing was so much mayo, a fatty piece of burger, a greasy piece of Swiss cheese. I scraped off all the mayo, ate a couple of bites of the meat, after soaking up the grease with napkins, ate the mushrooms and some of the cheese. Yuck! ![]() Tomorrow, it's back down the road to the funeral and a huge spread afterwards... ![]() No exercise, since I went straight from work out of town and just home at 10:30; now straight to bed. ![]() |

well during the morning and afternoon I only can do half an hour each of moderate cardio because of time and the fact that I cant sweat too much and go back to work. In the evening Ill do my C25K training (also moderate) and strength training. So yes its a lot but Its just lower intensity and spaced out.
my sauteed spinach is pretty simple, I use cooking spray, garlic, and MRs Dash to sautee the spinach leaves untill they are wilted, its really good and really filling/good for you. I make it in my Wok, sometimes with mushrooms

B - turkey sausage
L - ham, cheese, cottage cheese, apple with PB2, 1/2 Atkins bar S #1 - The other half of the Atkins bar, okra, 1/4 cup blueberries with almond slivers S #2 - REAL peanut butter (grrrrrrrrrr), yogurt with almond slivers and an entire Pure Protein bar. Total calories already - 1240, protein 1025. I doubt if I'll have much for dinner, if anything. My stomach is actually killing me. I got a couple of things at Walmart today that are for maintenance in the next couple of weeks. Some Kashi Go Lean cereal and some Blue Bunny something or other that Erin mentioned that are like fudgesicles. They're like 70 calories each. I'm not sure on carbs, but do-able for maintenance. No exercise yet, but will probably get on the bike when my stomach quits hurting! |

Fridays are a bad day for me.
B-yogurt (80) S-atkins bar (130) L-some LC protein bar from central market (160) (instead of the cake that was available) D-salad, egg, cheese, SF pudding and....here's the bad, 1/2 to 3/4c fat free soft serve frozen yogurt. I had an unexpectedly busy day and was away from home and reasonable choices all day. I think I did pretty well with the exception of the frozen yogurt...but it could always be worse and I could have eaten more. I got a bad stomach cramp/ache about 15 minutes after eating it which I'm sure is from the sugar overload. I will put in some extra time at my workout tonight....at least an extra 30 minutes of cardio! |

B-Protein pancakes with SF preserves L-Protein shake S-String cheese, 1/3 Pure Protein bar D-Went out of town for my birthday, for music and dancing along the waterfront in Yorktown, VA. Beautiful night, tons of friends, dancing, expecting to eat a good dinner afterwards. We found that the few restaurants there stopped serving dinner at 9! Choice was: bar food, pub food or a deli where I could get a chef salad. Got that and picked out turkey, tomatoes and cheese, had a little dressing. Not great, when you're expecting fresh seafood...Breakfast choices today were not great, but will post that with today's "menu". |

Here's a little something. I went back to read some of our posts to get some more ideas of what I could be eating and noticed that for about two whole months, my daily calorie total has been right around 1,000. So let's face it, I'm really in the transition phase even tho it's not official. On Wednesday, I'm going to ask for my transition packet and the breathing test and I'm just going to focus on maintaining. If I drop a couple of pounds to hit 145, great. If not, that's okay too. I'm struggling with the limitations of the 500 calories (obviously) and I'm ready to quit feeling so stressed about going over that total.
I feel scared. I am really making this decision to move out of acute. I think it's time. ![]() |
