Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and had the opportunity to honor someone who helped make America an amazing country to live in.

I had a not so good weekend food-wise but it was definitely a learning experience. Too many calories and way too much salt resulted in a whopping 6 lb gain after that. While I avoided the obvious carby no-nos, I was far from being completely in control. I'm doing all protein today and I'm feeling much better already. I hated the way I felt yesterday. Couldn't hold my tummy in, felt puffy from my face to my feet. Just awful.

So today, so far I've had an egg mug breakfast and for lunch, miracle noodles with chicken. Snack will be a medi shake and grilled fish this evening. I did my run already and worked my arms. I'll end up doubling my water to try and rid myself of all the fluid retention.

Although I'm sure some would disagree, I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I have worked this program and have lost 30 pounds successfully and I hit a speed bump this weekend. I refuse to feel guilty but will rather get back on track with a renewed commitment.

Four pounds to goal. Almost there. No stopping me now.

I like the caramel nut chew ones because they are tastey, only 130 calories, and REALLY 2 (or 3 i dont remember) net carbs.. unlike others where if you do carbs-(fiber+ sugar alcohols) the number is different than the net carbs listed on the box, sometimes dramatically different.

S - egg beaters omelet, almonds
D - pork roast au jus, s/f jello

arms/abs/bike 45 minutes

Lea, how in the world do you not eat any veggies? I used to be vegan and crave them so much! I've been trying to keep carbs pretty low the last couple of days and the asparagus is calling to me right now. Imagine that... asparagus being a temptation. :P Last night was a bit torturous. I was so hungry, I ended up going to bed. Ok I take that back - I probably wasn't HUNGRY but my stomach was growling for no good reason. I wish it would just stop that.

I've been reading a book called When Food is Love and it's VERY interesting, by the way. Just thought I'd throw that in there. I figure the battle has just begun once I get to maintenance and I'm really really nervous.

B: sausage & egg beater mug
S: light cheese stick, shaved smoked ham slices
L: fajita chicken, cilantro, jalapenos, 1T light sour cream
D: miracle noodles w/ chicken & laughing cow cheese (I'M OUT OF NOODLES! ACK!)
S: Medi choc shake w/ a little pb2

Hey Erin - I do eat veggies - just not every day. I eat celery, pickles, cucumber, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, okra and asparagus. I think those are the only ones I've eaten since starting on this plan. And sauerkraut - jarred, of course. I also was brave enough to try strawberries about a month ago, but I really love fruit and I just want to steer clear of any triggers. So far today I've had:
B - yogurt
L - turkey and cheese stick

I have no idea what my snack or dinner will be but I bought some crab legs the other day...

Getting ready for my workout! I hope I have a good one today!

Erin and Lea - I am SO glad you two are consistently on this thread! What great numbers you both have!! I am preparing to start the C25K program and also some arms/abds - it's finally time to move up to exercising since I'm maintaining at the same wt and getting my food selection down pretty well. I'm also feeling better psychologically to go on to finally lose the next 17-20 lbs. Saw my sister in law & brother in law over the wknd (DH's sis) and my youngest daughter stopped by Monday evening, hadn't seen me in over 7 wks and was blown away with my loss, very encouraged that I'm now taking care of myself

6/2/10 Wed
B-carbmaster's yogurt (80 cal protein; 3 net carbs)
S-mug egg/1 sl turkey bacon/& 1/4 sl colby cheese (113 cal protein; 1 carb)
L-almonds w sea salt (85 cal protein; 2 net carbs)
will mark dinner later

Exercise - walked/jogged for 2 1/2 miles at my pace

Ortal - I'm going to turn in my film (35 mm!) in a few days and will get CD made; so maybe in a week or so I'll have some old and new photos to post...if I can figure out how to get them on my computer!

Erin - You are so close to maintenance, I hope you'll still check in here and the monthly thread and not forget about us! I wish I could have kept up with your pace....I just had my "issues!" My body fat is now SOFT, it's not all dimply as much....I really, really need to get rid of the wiggles and tone up :P Unfortunately I still have a muffin top over my lowriders, though they are a size 11. I'm never going to be a size 6 like the rest of you...

Err, yes I will absolutely stick around! How else am I going to keep this blasted weight off?? You don't need to be a size 6 to be healthy, Debbie. We are who we are and that's ok. Honestly, I don't know if I'm meant to be a size 6. 125 was my original goal but at 134, I'm done. Whether I'm at 130 on Friday's weigh in or not, that's it. I'm tired of the struggle (which it truly has been these past couple of weeks with little results) and my husband thinks I'm hot now so that's good for me. At 38 years old, I don't need to be a 4! I like my curves and god forbid I lose any more weight or I will have pancake boobs! They're deflated enough!!!

I do admit that I will probably start weighing back in at Weight Watchers since I'm lifetime and I like their maintenance program. I really like their "simply filling" method especially without the points. It's very similar to Medi and South Beach with the complex carbs, lean meats, veggies, fruits, fat free dairy, etc. Just more calories and I'm just not planning to eat as many carbs as they do. I also like that they discourage processed foods like bars, fat free hot dogs, and lunch meats that add so much sodium. I'm looking forward to adding more calories in and finding a really good balance. I'm going to talk about this all with my Medi clinic and stay in touch with them of course too!!! I just really hope my metabolism hasn't slowed down. It's kind of freaking me out that I gained 6 lbs over a single weekend - water weight or not.

Debbie, glad you're back! We missed you.

I was SO CLOSE to hitting 45 pounds this morning. Total is 44.8. I'm pretty happy. I'm going to post some pictures on here soon - I just need to actually TAKE some. I want to see everyone else's too!

A bit about my body - I'm tall - actually 5' 9 3/4" and I've got a fair amount of muscle that always seems to remember just how to snap back into shape in a short amount of time. The ladies at the clinic couldn't believe my arms because I hadn't start working them out yet. I added arms and abs about a month ago. Right now I don't really have anything sagging EXCEPT my very most upper, inner thighs. They don't really sag exactly, but my legs are so heavily muscled that they're really tight every where else. I look ridiculous!

Debbie, I'm really wanting to get started on the 5k training. I haven't done anything regarding that yet because I've been biking. I might actually try the first stages on the treadmill - it's so HOT lately!!

Erin - I always steam my crab legs. Simplest way on the planet and it retains that sea salt taste that boiling takes away. Since almost every crab leg sold is pre-cooked then frozen immediately, you can reheat in any fashion you can think of, but I'm a complete salt freak and really love that taste. I don't make the drawn butter anymore to dip it in and they don't need it! I USUALLY have a little side salad with all those yummy veggies I mentioned earlier, but I am out of just about everthing but the lettuce. Mushrooms - I forgot, I eat those too.

Have a great day!!

Erin-great idea about going to weight watchers for weigh ins -- I too am a lifetime member; and my weight at that time for life was 127! They just don't have any meetings anywhere close here, would have to travel 20+ miles. But, that's still an idea and would save $...! Of course, one of the reasons I stopped going was when I moved to KS from CA (and weighed 118 lbs) everyone at WW said "what are YOU doing here, you don't look like you even belong here...they hadn't seen me in my 150's to 160's where I'd started at during that time of my life post babies!)

Lea - This AM I was out the door to walk by 7:30 am, and need to get up even earlier than that as I was really hot 40 mins later when I was finished! It would be good for me to be getting up earlier anyways....That's why I was thinking perhaps we could "work out together" by phone about 6:45 am? Let me know...

Two things - Erin - another reason I haven't eaten many veggies lately is because I've only been in trace to small ketosis. The clinic said not to worry since I'm working out every day and I'm probably using ketones for those workouts, but I'm afraid of falling out.

Debbie - my summer work schedule changed and tho I'm only working three days a week, I have to be there by 7:00 a.m. I'm NOT a morning girl, but I like getting out of there by 2:00 or so. I can't do the morning workout or even the call really, but let's keep brainstorming. I love the idea of having a "partner" out there doing the same thing!

I can't remember where I saw it but I just had one of the Atkins mousse bar things for 120 calories (I think). They ARE good! I was hesitant because I'm REALLY trying to keep the carbs down but I have plenty of calories left over and I've been seriously craving something chocolatey. This was perfect and now my hunger is finally gone. Just goes to show that sometimes you need to eat what you're craving or you will eat everything else instead!!

I have noticed though that occasionally, I gag on them. lol Usually happens if I eat them 2 or 3 days in a row. I start to crave them when I'm having a really hungry day though. I have to season them a LOT and cut them up a lot too. They really are my saving grace when I just need a big bowl of something to fill me up!

yes same HERE! thought it was just me. they are VERY hard toa ctually chew and I have to cut them small cause I feel im swallowing them whole. I wear invisalign so chewing is already awkward for me when I take them out but these are particularly bad.

It definetly helps to blanch them in boiling water for a minute. I rinse them for like 10 minutes , mixing here and there, in the strainer, then boil, then rinse to stop the cooking, then eat with something else (usually with ICBNB spray or soup or stir fry...). But yes they are my saving grace when I want a LOT of food and I dont have that many calories left. I eat the whole bag at a time.

Im going grocery shopping at lunch and snatching up some of the new laughing-cows Think you mentioned them in another thread. Any more suggestions for snacks I can bring on my three day long trip this weekend?

Ive figured out that cutting the heck out of them and then cooking them in a teflon pan until they turn brown makes a big difference. I think they are mostly water though because the longer you toast them the smaller they get!

On your trip I would def be prepared with the usual stuff. Turkey pepperoni, shaved ham, laughing cow, eas shakes, bars, crystal light and other zero cal drinks. Good luck and have fun!!!!

6/3/10 Down to 152.4 on my home scales...still in ketosis (trace)

Out the door by 7:05 am for 2 1/2 mile walk wearing my Shape Up shoes/Target heartrate kept

B-carbmaster's yogurt w/ 1 tsp nonsweetened applesauce prior to walking
S-1/2 of Pure Protein chocolate bar, 2 cups coffee
