fruit or vegetable

I am on my fourth week and am wondering if pumpkin is considered a fruit or vegetable while on MWL?

If you are speaking in a botanical, scientific context, then pumpkin, tomato, capsicum, cucumber, tomato and squash are FRUITS because they all have seeds. If you are speaking in culinary terms, they can all be properly called VEGETABLES.

However, pumpkin is not on the list of approved fruit or vegetables for the acute phase, at least that I am aware of.

Pumpkin on MWL is considered a "winter squash"... you're only allowed summer squash (Zuccini or yellow squash) on MWL.

Surprisingly enough, they have pumpkin in one of their recipes, and I have always been curious about that. Pumpkin can be an amazing substitution in recipes for less appropriate ingredients. I have always wondered about the use of pumpkin. And with the exception of their recipe, as far as I know it is a no-no. I will ask my clinic doctor about this.

Hi lades,

Thank you so much for the replies. I went in for my mid-week shot and talked to the doctor. He told me I am able to eat it 2x a day if made medi appropriate, such as using the MWLC website recipes. I did the pumpkin casserole twice in one day and the next morning I was still in ketosis. To stay on the safe side i will only eat it once a day. There are plenty recipes I have yet to try. Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine's Day.
