on day 4, I called in. That same day I went to the clinic for my midweek shot and felt slightly better. I also invested in Wyler's Instant Bouillon red sod cubes. It helped me alot after day 4. I am almost at week 6, my weigh in this past Tuesday was 197.4 start was 223. The first week is worth the withdrawls. Hang in there we are all here for each other. |

I just wanted to add, at my last appt dr and staff was so proud that I am now in the ones. He has a before pic of me in my file and asked me if I'd like to look at it. I said no I am not ready to see it, that I would like to see it at my 16 weeks. Dr said that I look like a totally different person. Just so everyone knows on the thread, that is the only picture I have taken besides my very bad DL picture that I had to take prior to MWL. I am still camera shy. Once I get comfortable I will post a pic of what I look like.

I am the same way about pictures. I cannot even look at my daughter's college graduation and wedding pictures with me in them. Now that I am on MEdi and losing weight I kick myself for not having found it sooner. |

kristenb- thanks for the tip re: chicken patties at Sams, I'll put that on my list! I too use the fish/flaxseed/Omega blend capsule from Sams and haven't had any burpy fish taste with them.

Hi everybody, I've had a horrible week physically with leg cramps during the night and about wanted to amputate my left leg! I've had problems with this intermittently for a couple years due to working on concrete floors and standing/walking all day. (I'm a nurse). I work 8 hours teaching students at a very large hospital on Tues and Wednesday and walk about 3 miles on the job checking on them throughout the day. Then on Thur and Fridays I'm racing around in the recovery room on my feet 12 to 14 hours. Most of the problem is really dehydration though I try to drink, I know it's not enough, then I'd be taking away from my patients to run to the BR which I already do about 5 times during the shift! I've messed with potassium, magnesium, calcium, other things to try to avoid leg cramps at night; LOTS of stretches, hot packs, etc. It was SO bad on Thurs night I probably got 2 1/2 hours of sleep and have had a limp the past 1 1/2 days since because of the severe muscle spasm. Don't worry, I know it's not a DVT (blood clot), it's definitely muscle spasm.
I'm so glad to read of everyones successes! Wow, some who started the first week of Jan are down 30 to 35 lbs already!! Awesome for you! I'm hanging in there. Going back to week 1 is a lot harder than I thought it would be...and particularly when I'm concerned about getting the minerals, etc I need. (I have always taken a multivit, stress B + Vit C, Fish/Flaxseed/Omegas, Lipitor for my cholestrol, Atenolol for my mitral valve prolapse to prevent rapid heart rates, allergy meds, and added CoQ10 too). The lack of sleep these past three days has made me choose to not take my appetite suppressant. Lack of sleep in my mitral valve prolapse state can make me have rapid heart rate and taking the AS would just wear me out then. Whae, whae, whae....I'm just so ready for a break from school. Not gonna happen for a while...

Hi everyone,
So I've pretty much stabilized at 164 since my surgery a week ago. I went into surgery weighing 164, gained 2 lbs (water?) and even though I've been eating so perfectly all week.. same deal. I'm just trying to be patient! I had another surgical procedure yesterday (no iv though so no water weight) but I'm still taking pain meds so I wonder what that could have to do with it. I really want to start losing weight again! I don't think I'm going to meet my mini goal of 159 by March 6, but it's okay. Any tips for eating on long flights? I saw some general flying/airport trips before, but what do you do on a 14 hour flight that leaves at 10:00 am!? Before this, I would have packed cookies, granola bars, etc but that is obviously not going to cut it anymore! |

Elizabethgrace-I had the medi pamphlet since October. My repro endo dr recommended it, because dh and I were ttc. I was taking metformin 2x's a day, which I am now taking one.
Fit2010-I was on Avapro for HB and my repro endo dr changed my script to Atenelol on 10/09. I am no longer taking the med. The only two I take are met 500 once daily and my bc pills. I am so grateful to have reached my mini goal of getting off one of the meds. |

I have become a joke (in a nice way) because i literally always have a chicken breast in my purse. I have a little one, so can keep it with his bottle and an ice pack, but have become very comfortable with pulling out my own food. i am flying in a couple days, and am sure i will be bringing some chicken with me!
The turkey pepperoni is delicious, and would also pack well for a few hours. Fit2010-hope you feel better! Not taking the AS will be tough, but I understand the sleep trouble ![]() |

Hi everyone..
I am new to posting on the forum, have been reading posts for a long time, and have been following Medi for about 9 months now. I have lost 102 pounds, and today, fit into a size 10 jeans, down from a size 24. I am on top of the world, and no food will ever taste as good as zipping up those size 10 jeans did! This is truly a life changing experience!Last edited by joyfull; 02-21-2010 at 06:39 AM.. |

Maybe we can both put our 16 week pick up with our before pic. I still avoid the camera even though people around me tell me I am doing a great job. It's sad that I wouldn't even take a family picture. This year I am doing it, taking the family picture and do it every year after that.

bbo325 - I'm glad you're getting off your meds, that's great! I am not on Atenolol for high blood pressure, I take it because without it my heartrate can go up to 140 beats a minute on its own due to mitral valve prolapse (which, MVP is common in about 1/3 of all women). I was down to 140 lbs 14 years ago I had to start on Atenolol for irregular, fast heartrate. My BP has always been 100 to 120 systolic. I take Metformin 500 mg three times a day due to insulin resistance. Just recently (since losing the 20 lbs in 6 wks) my HgA1C dropped to 5.3 It had been 5.9 in November when I was heavier and not eating low carb.
HeatherT - I was avoiding the AS due to MVP (as described above), not due to trouble sleeping. I would never take it usually past 2 pm anyways. Joyfull- Welcome to the site! Congratulations on your successful weight loss!! I love you name (Joyfull) too! That's what I want to be full of! Last edited by Fit2010; 02-21-2010 at 05:56 PM.. |

Hey LizzyD,
Yes, I always look at my water vs my weight lost since that flucuates so much. If my water is up from the previous week I subtract that from total weight lost (in my head of course, Medi doesn't count it, but the doc always lets me know). I also ALWAYS wear the same thing to my weigh in and ALWAYS try to make my appt at the same time every time. My doc said you tend to hold more water as the day progresses. Hope this helps, SCgirl |

Good luck getting all that water in too, I know it will help. Going to the BR every five minutes is better than missing a whole day with your patients dont you think? ![]() |

I went to the clinic today and finally I'm below 170 lbs! Yeah! This AM I showed trace ketosis. This is the first time in a long while my BMI is less than 30, so no longer "obese" according to the charts. BMI is now 29.2...goal is much less! Like you, nuts are my temptation quick meal fix and that's not allowed on week one, even a redo week one . They advised me to take the Morton's salt replacement (potassium) in water nightly, yum! I think I'll also take a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc because I know my blood levels are all ok on this, it's the muscle acting up from lack of dietary supply when on this week one and week two no fruit version, and because I'm standing on hard concrete constantly, and walking a lot at work. I also bought Smart water that I will take to work with me daily to make sure I get at least 16 oz of electrolyte water in...will still have my other water too. (I really do not like the flavored stuff, i.e. powerade zero or too much crystal light). My husband is also signing us up for the "Y" again, he likes to do racquetball. (Then I can use the whirlpool for my back and legs ) Oh yeah, and I can workout too every once in a while. Hard to do with my crazy schedule but I will try not to obligate myself more than I can realistically do initially. I'm thinking a strength class or yoga class would be nice!Last edited by Fit2010; 02-22-2010 at 01:24 PM.. |

I saw your new stats. Congrats on making it below 170. Great job!!! I am SO SO hoping I get there on Wednesday. Only .8 to make it. If I lose 2.2 I'll make it to 20 pounds. Either one will be a big deal for me. |
