Ashley-How are you managing without the AS? I am starving!! I am on day 2 without it and I am ready to eat anything that comes near me. I am really trying to stick it out for a few dasy to see if I can get my body to adapt to it. Otherwise I am going to have to go back to the clinic. Any tips or tricks? I am really filling up on water and it isnt helping!

Totally Excited but have a questions...
I am so shocked by my Week 2 results! I went in on Friday for my weigh-in and found that I lost 9 pounds! I really didn't think THAT was possible! A pound more than Week 1.
Question - I need something other than WATER and coffee to drink but I can not stand the aftertaste of Crystal Light or flavored water - Any suggestions???? |

Hi everyone..
I have a question. I think I have to cancel my appointment for my WI this week because of an unexpected work meeting, and I don't think I can get there another day this week! I'm sure I could ask when I call, but what happens in that case? Do I still go for my shot on Saturday or totally skip the visits again until next Wednesday??? Any advice would be appreciated! THANK YOU!! |

Just had weigh in #4 - lost 3.5 in fat but am up in weight, almost 5lbs in water. Didn't eat anything off program this week but I did travel and had to eat out. May be TOM on its way. Dr came in to visit and said to watch carbs and see where we are next week. My body may be reacting to low carbs and increasing my insulin levels. Personally I think I ate too many calories even though they were good calories. Its hard to measure while eating out. Also had a stressful week and snacked on almonds a bit more than normal. I am still in ketosis although it has been small to slightly moderate. Good to know I am still burning fat, so this week I am limiting carbs to 25 a day and increasing water intake to flush out this excess water. Went to a Super Bowl party, Wow Saints!, and ate veggies with tzatziki sauce, brat and sauerkraut. Drank water only. Very happy that I didn't eat any of the myriad of other tempting foods there, that was an interesting test!

Weigh in today has me at 171 lbs. I'm just so eager to get to goal...but will be happy if it even takes til June or July to get there! Saw my regular doctor and he was happy about the 19 lb weight loss and suspects that my HgA1C is now lower so sent me to lab, I'll find out results in the next few days (I have Insulin Resistance and was nearing diagnosis with Diabetes, I've been on Metformin for this). He was interested to learn that I reported that my arthritis inflammation in my fingers is minimal since I've cut out sugar and grains. I feel SO much better than I did when I last saw him in November. He had the nerve to say, "well, 135 or 140 lbs for a goal may be too far, you may have to reset that goal..." It's those kinds of comments that have made me lie to myself and make excuses! Jo, Cindy, Susie, Jerry, what did you do when people told you things like that? Particularly if it was your personal doctor?

Went for weigh in and got my before and after pics! And a new avatar
Had my engagement party this weekend. I allowed myself to enjoy some of the food- I have worked very hard and an event like this only happens once so I did my best to avoid the really bad stuff but did not beat myself up over my food choices. Everyone left town yesterday and I am back to eating healthy, drinking tons of water and exercising. I know that we have said it before but it is so true, it is not all about the slip ups and mistakes that you make but rather how you react to them afterwards. I can't believe I am now almost 10lbs under my goal weight! This program has been amazing!

As far as goal weight goes, my doc likes the 150. Says for 5'11" large frame - 150-155 is okay. I set 160 originally, and left it there. The clinic and my doc are both happy with 150, but do not want me to go any lower.

Hi everyone - I am now down 15.4 pounds and feeling really good. I am really starting to notice a big difference and others are noticing too!! I have also really gotten into the swing of things and am not really having any cravings at all anymore (except somehow the smell of pizza is really hitting me hard and lately I feel like it's everywhere!). Other than that though, it has gotten so much easier and is starting to become the "new normal".
I started thinking a lot about why this WOE was causing me so much stress and I think it's really the money more than anything. When I stalled a little bit because of TOM I just panicked because I'm spending so much money and I can't afford for this not to work quickly. I had to really sit down and think about the fact that my body seems to be doing well with two pounds a week and if I want to lose another 30-40 pounds, it's going to take another 4-5 months and I really am okay with that. The problem is that I just can't keep paying $90/wk for another 5 months, especially when they literally just weigh me in, hand me the AS and that's the end of it. So, I found a weight loss doctor in my city who will give me the same AS and weigh me in every two weeks for $70 - so $140/month instead of $360. I plan to lose the rest of the weight this way (on the Medi plan but weighing in with this Dr. instead) and go back to my clinic once I am close to goal so I can learn about maintenance and that phase. It's funny, I feel so much more calm and at peace with things since making this decision. I'm excited for what is to come! I have a big event on March 6 and my mini goal is to be in the 150's by then! |

Ok so I am back on acute to lose 3-5 more pounds before spring break... I am trying to do week 1 but probably only for a few days my goal is to lose 3 pounds by next Thursday to be at 160 for our first performance! I am bouncing between 164-162 but I figure this is normal as a maintainer...
Some of you have had questions about hunger... my tip is to distract yourself! Whiten your teeth, chew SF gum, or what I do is take a nap! When I am completely starving I take a nap and wake up when I need to start making dinner (a plus of being a college student) Congrats to all the losers!

I have decided that I can NOT do this on my own and can NOT do this without the AS, so instead of going back ot the clinic I am unhappy with, I am going to pay the 250 and join the clinic you gals are raving about on here. I need the support. The hunger is literally making me crazy without it. I have been enduring it thinking my body will adapt and get used to it but it has been a week and I am like a crazy person! I just know I cannot afford this for as long as I will need so I am going to try to lose as much as I can until the end of May then ask them to teach me maintenance so I can at least maintain whatever I do lose. Malloryann- I have been trying to distract myself, I think I need a few weeks of AS to get the weight coming off and then once I feel confident I will try to wean off again. Good luck with the SPring Break goal, what kind of performance do you have? Jerry-grat pics! Bre-congrats 70lbs!!!! That is terrific! All of you medi experts, what is a reasonable weight loss goal for me to hit by end of May? I am currently 188 and on week 2. |

I hit 169 yesterday and have been walking on air. My clinic has this little box in the counseling room. They've never gone over it with me, but while I was waiting I looked through all of the food box examples of what is apparently ok to eat.
Never been a vegetarian kind of person, but figured I would give the Morningstar Farms product a shot. It was absolutely amazing! I'm assuming it is "medi-compliant", but it is the Black bean burger. I look forward to this every single day for lunch. Just thought I would post this in case anyone else was as dismissive of stuff in the "tofu-y-sort" of health food section in their frozen food aisle. I was seriously missing out all of this time! |

Has anyone had kidney stones since they started the program? I am about 99% sure that I have a kidney stone right now (since I've had them before and know the symptoms). I did some research online because I was wondering if the kidney stone could be keeping me out of ketosis, which I posted about last week. I found several pieces of info about low-carb/high protein diets and how they can aggrivate and/or cause kidney stones. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.
I go in to the clinic tomorrow so I'll flet you guys know what they have to say about it. |
