Anyone Willing To Share Week 2 Results?
Hi Everyone - I am in week two and I was wondering what kinds of results people had in week two and even in weeks after that. While I was excited that I could add in some vegetables this week I am also a little freaked out to do so because I am so afraid of falling out of ketosis. Thanks.

I lost 3.5 for a total of 11 so far. I too am a bit reticent to start adding in foods, I have been very careful. So far no fruits, I think for the most part I would rather have veggies at this point. Nothing has thrown me out of ketosis yet and I have tested at various times when I test (once a day). Only one time was I at "trace", but I think it was diluted. I tested later in the day and was moderate.
I know I can have peanut butter, but am not going to right now. I love peanut butter and don't want to risk the opportunity to overdo it. I need a bit more traction first. Great to share and hear others stories! |

I lost 3.2 in week two, and 6.4 in week 1. I will say that I have added shredded lettuce, zuchinni and mushrooms and I have not gone out of Ketosis. It was very nice to have some veggies!
I am going to try and add rotel to my salad for some extra zing, 4 carbs for 1/2 cup( wont need that much). |

Shannanagins--I had 2 tbs of the Simply Jif last night and was in moderate ketosis this morning, I also weighed ( this is a problem for me, I can't stop) and was down another lb from my Thursday weigh-in.

Well I made the peanut butter mistake last night...had 1 tbsp on some celery and tested "trace" today
That's the only thing I can attribute it to besides some romaine lettuce I ate.I'm trying not to freak out though...I'll just start over with my food tomorrow. I keep telling myself 'at least I didnt test negative'. |

amy, according to my Dr. trace is just as good as moderate, he stated that if you test in the darker areas you are not drinking enough fluid to flush liver and kidneys. Ketosis is ketosis, if you are in it you are burning fat. I would check with your Dr for reassurance. You are doing great, I haven't tried celery yet but that sounds good.

OK I weigh tomorrow for week 4 but poked around in here and wanted to add a comment about celery. Susie, I added a little chive cream cheese on top of 2 celery sticks and LOVE it! Very few carbs.Peanut butter is a red flag food for me...so this is a great alternative

kmt1985 - Thank you for telling me that about the trace levels. I tested the next day and was back to moderate and it was such a relief to see that...it made me notice how the littlest things can make that 'defeated' feeling creep up inside of me and I did not like that feeling at all. Thank you for the encouragement.
Susie - Thanks for the stats on celery...I had no idea and now I'm not afraid to eat it again, in moderation of course. I ordered some of the Walden Farms peanut spread, has anyone tried that? kitzers/Fit2010 hope today went really well for you guys! |

First week I lost 8.9 and second week I lost 3.6. I go for my third weigh in tomorrow. There are a lot of veggies that are super low in carbs that you could eat, like lettuce, zucchini, mushrooms, cucumber, and cauliflower. I eat my two cups of veggies in the middle of the day in the form of lettuce with cucumbers, mushrooms, and red onions with balsamic vinegar as my dressing. I have never dropped out of ketosis. My clinic told me as long as I don't go over 20 carbs per day I should be good. I've had blueberries and strawberries too and been just fine. I only eat about 1/2 cup of them per day though because they are much higher in carbs than the veggies.

kristenb - I hope your weigh in goes well and thanks for the suggestions on the foods.
I just got back from my weigh in for this week (week 2) and lost another 4.5...of course I had hoped for maybe just a tiny bit more...but its progress not perfection right? |

I went for my 2nd Weigh in today.... am I ecstatic - noooo... am i disappointed - i would have to say no to that one too... I was wanting a much bigger number today, but I will be happy with what I got. I have been doing everything according to the directions, and have stayed in ketosis 100% of the time.... so, i know i am doing my part, and it will show....
Starting Weight - 165.8 Week 1 159.4 (down 6.4 pounds - 3.8 from fat, 2 pounds from water) Week 2 157.6 (down 1.8 pounds - all 1.8 pounds from fat) Last edited by jp3girl; 03-25-2010 at 10:23 AM.. Reason: put in the wrong weight lol |

Wow you are exactly my weight when I started. I lost 9 lbs to start but truth be told, I had a huge lunch and wore heavier than usual clothes that first weigh in. Then the 2nd week I also had a 1.8 lb loss. Just expect for next week to be about the same. Unfortunately, the closer you are to goal, the slower it is. I talked to the doctor about it and she explained that it takes a 3000 calorie deficit to lose 1 lb. So really, if you are burning about 1400 calories a day and eating around 500 - 700 a day, that's about 1000 or a bit less a deficit which is ultimately about a 2 pound a week loss. Physiologically, you can't really lose more than that. If you eat less, you go into starvation mode.
Hope that helps. It did me! I was getting frustrated!

3rd Weigh In was Thursday - and gosh was I surprised... After my number last week, I have to admit I was kinda discouraged, and had it been any other "plan", I probably would've given up... But wowwwwww! When I met with my Dr. (who is also my OB/GYN) - I broke down crying, I mean BOOHOO'ing - and he was asking me what was wrong... I told him that I am so scared of failing... He said that my results are remarkable, and the numbers I am putting up are reflecting what I am doing. The only issue I am having right now is lack of sleep. He told me I could cut the last pill in half, and only take half, and in between tears, I was like Noooo, I want it to keep working for me lol... Gosh, I sound like such a sob story - ha ha Long story short, Tylenol Simply Sleep has been wonderful. Took 1 (only 1) - last night for the first time, and slept till 10 am. WOO HOO - OK, now i will post my results
Starting Weight - 165.8 Week 1 159.4 (down 6.4 pounds - 3.8 from fat, 2 pounds from water and .6 from muscle) Week 2 157.6 (down 1.8 pounds - all 1.8 pounds from fat) Week 3 153.4 (down 4.2 pounds - 2.8 from fat, 1 pound from water and .4 from muscle) |

And just make sure that you eat foods that you will enjoy. Don't just eat boring basic proteins, make sure you spice them up and add some flavor. Check out the recipe threads, that's where I found some great things. You can do it, good luck!

Well, I'm quite a ways past week 2, but I'd like to share my results if no one minds. I shared this on the Jazzy July thread, but no one has said anything. Maybe I'm the only one with no life this weekend and am expecting too much. :-) But I promise I won't post it again after this.

So you lost .8 lbs total, but 8 lbs of fat for the week? I don't quite get that either. Did you gain water weight maybe?
