Had my appt today and it's looking like gall bladder. I had an ultrasound and my Dr is supposed to be calling me this evening to let me know what it said, but the tech said my gall bladder was HUGE and gravely
Dr wants me on liquid for the rest of the day and mostly fruits and veggies for the rest of the weekend. She said I can do processed lunch meat but nothing I need to "chew" too much (like chicken or steak). I'm OK with the idea of broth, veggies, and a little meat for a while because let me tell you, this pain is no fun at all I have an appt on Monday at 8:30 with a GI. Fun times.

Thank you for all the well wishes. It is truly a great feeling to be 91 pounds light this Christmas season than last, not to mention losing weight during this food laiden mine field of temptations.
Enjoy the last weekend before Christmas. Park far away at the mall if you are shopping, it is an added bonus in your excerise plan! Robyn |

Robyn- Congrats!!! 91lbs is AMAZING!! You must be feeling Great!
Jessica I am so sorry to hear about your gallbladder- The pain is awful isn't it? I couldn't take it any more! Just hang in there and I def recommend that if the doc says get it out then get it out. The surgery really is not that bad- I was in and out of the operating room in under an hour and was only in the hospital a total of about 6-7 hours.I had my surgery yesterday morning. I was groggy and very bloated all day but it was not that bad. Today I am in some pain and discomfort but I am taking it easy and following all of the doctors orders. I am very relieved that the surgery went well. I went in for my weigh-in Thurs evening and lost 3.2 more lbs for a grand total of just over 55 lbs in less than 4 months (51 lbs of pure fat!). What I thought was even better than the total weight loss is that I have lost 11 INCHES AROUND MY WAIST! I haven't been in the 160s since early high school! I am not going to let this surgery or pain sidetrack me. I have learned to listen to my body and I have started a slightly modified medi plan where I can add in 1 whole grain and an extra serving of veggies. Also I have cut out red meat for the time being. My health is my priority and that includes weight loss! I can't believe how close I am to goal. Hang in there during the holidays everybody- I know that we can do this together

Bre- Thanks for posting! Glad to hear you're feeling well. I had bad pain again last night and took 2 of the Vicodin that my wonderful Dr prescribed me, so I was out for the night at 8pm. If the GI says it comes out, I'm totally fine with that. 2nd to labor pains, this is the worst abdominal pain I've ever had. I'm waiting until my appt on Monday morning before I go to the clinic to talk about foods. For now I'm on broth and processed meat and veggies.. anything that's easy to digest (mostly broth and EA shakes for now!). Let's keep in touch!

Bre - I'm glad the surgery went well. I pray your recovery goes quickly.
Jessica - Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. I will pray for you too to get it resolved and for a speedy recovery. Robyn, Jerry, DW, Nick - Congrats on your losses, but more importantly for your committment to this program. You guys rock! DW - I like shopping in regular stores for clothes; I like being able to borrow my sister's coat when I visit her up north; I like being able to cycle in the front row of my class without being self conscious of what people behind me are seeing; I like that my husband can't keep his hands off of me. There's lots to like with this plan.

I am right there with Susie on congratulatimg all of you with weight losses during this difficult time of the year with all of its temptations. It can be done and you all can do it!
For Bre and Jessica, I am wishing you both quick and speedy recoveries. You are both doing so remarkably well with the program, I know this will not stop you at all. It is just a rather rocky bump in the road. It appears to be the season for Gall bladder issues. I have three friends at work, all of them overweight and not on any program, who have gone in for gall bladder surgery within the last four weeks. I asked my doc about it and he told me that it is a common issue with those who are overweight. And that it is not unusual for it to manifest even more when trying to get the weight off. What I like about the program/plan: 1. It works 2. I am back to my normal weight 3. I can really compete in volleyball again 4. I get admiring looks on my morning walks 5. I love shopping for clothes 6. I have more energy and physical strength than I have had in years 7. The man in my life is always smiling! Jo

DW: I LOVE clothes shopping (a little to much!!). I loved being able to buy some cute boots this year that were not "wide calf"! My old ones look like galoshes on! I love comparing photos of "before" and "after" and I love being IN pictures now! Cannot remember that ever being the case!
So here's a question.. what is everyone making for Christmas morning breakfast? I'm up in the air due to the health stuff but since Christmas morning is at my house with my parents, I need to decide something (even if I'm not the one who makes it). My DH is super super picky and my parents are sort of doing a low-carb thing. My DH is most definitely not. I'm up in the air on what to fix. |

The last few days I ve been so busy and have stayed away from donuts, bagel sandwiches and pizza while moving our business.. took the stairs instead of the elevator and jogged across the parking lot several times.. Heading home for the Holidays tomorrow... travel, memories good and bad, friends... lots of temptation and triggers.. I have a plan, just hoping I can stick to it! I ll be checking in for the inspiration you all give.. !

I would like to wish everyone all the best for the holiday season and a great new year.
All these breakfast ideas sound yummy. I am drooling already! ![]() Just had my weigh-in. was a bit nervous to go today because both co-workers and family made me birthday cake. I sort of planned for it so didnt really feel too guilty. anway I did lose 6 pounds even with all of that so i am happy. Since I started this diet Oct 1, 2009 (with a few ups and downs, November being the worst) I have gone from a BMI of morbidly obese to being shy of 1.5 points of a normal BMI. I am hovering at 26.3 (overweight range). I will certainly take that. I have 14lbs to reach my original goal. You all rock!! Nicholas |

I have read this entire thread this morning and have to say CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so excited for all of you - your losses are inspiring and I feel so much JOY for each of you!
I can't wait to get back on plan. I could do it right now, but I know I won't stick to it. If I can get through the next 2 weeks and get some things off of my plate I can go back to focusing on this WOL. PLEASE keep up the amazing work - you ladies and gentlemen are AMAZING! Reading this thread is like getting a Christmas gift!

RE: Christmas breakfast! My mom offered to do omlettes here, so that will be easy to customize to everyone's tastes and do with eggbeaters for those who prefer! DH requested sausage balls so I will skip those (don't like sausage and I'm sure my gallbladder won't!) but I will make them for him. I'll do some turkey bacon and probably make a small monkey bread for my girls and DH, but I'll skip that too. Too much breakfast and I feel headachy and sluggish all day. Eggbeater omlette and turkey bacon sounds fine to me.
Saw the GI Dr today and she pretty much said "yes, you need your galbladder taken out" and gave me a referral to a surgeon. Fun times. So I guess I will make it through Christmas with all my organs inside because my initial consult with the surgeon isn't until Wednesday. |

The best part of this WOL for me is looking at photos and not cringing at the weight. I know my weight is no longer what people notice about me on first impressions. I hadn't realized how self-conscious I'd became. No more!!

Hi all! Just checking in and wanted to say congrats to all on the weight loss!
Bre and Jessica - so sorry about the gallbladders! Hope you are both on the mend soon! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and sticks to plan! You can all do it! I am heading to Savannah, GA to go to my in laws. I have not seen most of them (DH is one of 8 and most are married so it is a BIG crew) in over 5 months! I am sure they will be surprised! Oh and there are so many things I love about medi and losing the weight. My health and energy level is certainly a big one but the shopping for clothes is awesome! Like Jessica, I like it a little too much! But to be able to walk into the GAP, Talbots and Ann Taylor and buy off the rack like it is no big deal is awesome! I bought a sweater at Ann Taylor that was a size Medium the other day and about lost it! Very exciting! We also went to 3 Christmas parties on Saturday night and saw some friends we had not seen in a while and their reactions were awesome and so flattering. Time like that keep me moving in the right direction! Have a wonderful Christmas! |

Kate- Wow, size Medium!! That's awesome! I love shopping at the Gap again too and not buying the largest size in the store blows my mind every time
Robyn- Thanks!! Are you enjoying our "cold" weather? I love it! ONE last Christmas errand for me (well, not including the inevitable last-minute trips to the grocery store). Piles of wrapping still to be done! |

Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday season, with friends and family. I am flying up to Oregon Christmas morning and back the next afternoon, but I will be seeing family members who have not seen me since last year at this time.
I love shopping at those stores too, Kate! It really is pretty amazing to find out what size we actually wear now. I am into 8s in jeans/pants/slacks and a Medium in Ts and sweaters. WOW! This time last year I was in XLs in Ts and sweaters and 20s in jeans etc. And of course, the lingerie sizes are smaller too! Jessica and Bre' my best to the both of you. Take good care of yourselves! Love to all this beautiful time of year! ![]() Jo |

I wanted to join in the chorus of well wishes and congrats to all!! I know we will have many stories to share after the holidays about victories and conquering temptations! I went to the clinic and was down a few pounds and hit 167, and that was my motivation to get through the rest of this week! We had a discussion on our Mommy Forum that I think you guys would find interesting, and I'd ask you to consider this statement going in to the holidays: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"
So that piece of pie or that cookie might taste good, but it doesn't taste near as good to me as owning my first pair of designer jeans in a 28!! The "treats" are also a very short lasting thing, whereas the healthy, lean, strong reward lasts much much longer! So happy holidays, and remember the saying!! ![]() PS--I put some new holiday shake recipes on the drink recipe forum, recipes came from my clinic! Happy Holidays!!!

Wow, that's a great saying that I'll be sure to keep in mind over the next few days.
I know the BMI index is outdated, but as of this morning I am no longer considered overweight. Dang, that feels good!! |
