Day 4 and *bored to tears!* Need recipes!
I know there is a recipe thread, but it takes awhile to dig through and find ones that are ok during the first week.
I am honestly bored to tears. They told me it was boring. lol But honestly I know you guys will understand that my head needs something good tasting that's ok during the first week. This transition has been a bit hard for me since I can't stand meat or eggs, but have to eat them anyway. I've been trying to eat mainly fish though I did have some chicken the other day. Any recipe suggestions would be extremely helpful! |

I use tiny bits of blue cheese, bacon bits, goat cheese or prociutto to flavor egg beaters. Turkey bacon & pepperoni are great. Low fat turkey with laughing cow cheese is tasty. I eat Laughing Cow cheese like it's my job! I eat low fat cottage cheese and low fat string cheese for snacks. If you have a Trader Joe's in your area, their Pollo Asada is good. At BJ's or Walmart EAS Low Carb Shakes are really good. Once you find the foods that work for you it isn't bad.

Honestly, I would adjust your mindset more than your recipes. This week is like a "reset" button for your body. How many years have you spent eating whatever you felt like? Your body is almost being "shocked" into a new way of life. You are probably going through withdrawl from carbs and sugar. You can have shrimp (didn't hear you mention that), lunch meats, grilled chicken, cottage cheese, chicken broth, turkey bacon, etc. My clinic allowed cottage cheese during week 1. Chew sugarless gum if you're really miserable. I would strongly suggest you read through the newbies thread for more ideas. This is ONE week out of your life and yes, the food choices are limited. But next week there will be so many more things you can eat. If you can't make it through week 1 you will not make it on this diet. Think of this as bootcamp. It takes 100% commitment and a strong desire to make a major change in your lifestyle. Best of luck!

Holy cow, Jessica! Have you seriously lost 100 pounds in the last six months or am i reading the stats wrong? That's amazing!
I am definitely committed to doing this. Haven't had any want to cheat or go off, just wanting more variety. I do eat shrimp and it's a welcome distraction from the chicken! One thing I am confused about (will ask at my next appointment) is the starter pack tells us to use "miracle whip free" as a dressing, but it's not sold anywhere in my area. Is light mayo that has no sugar ok? I also can't find weather lemon juice is ok the first week.... Thanks so much for the reply! I think this forum might be the swift kick in the drawers I need ![]() |

I'm with Jessica - try not to focus on the food. I think the biggest adjustment we make in this program is getting away from the stimulus of food.
Are you taking AS? They can certainly make you bored with any food. It has come up before, but the NC clinics seemed to have a different slant on the program - (no judgement) - but when I did started the program it was absolutely a straight forward week during the first week without any little bits of this or that. Not liking meat or eggs would definitely make it more challenging... you don't like any meat? Chicken broth was a great save for me... can you do that? Best wishes to you... keep posting - if you get bored - take a walk : )

Okay, I have promised myself I will not preach about the program. HOWEVER, please read the following threads for inspiration and motivation.
*.*Nutricious New November! Here We Go!*.* Welcome Newbies! Helpful info for week 1. Also use the search function to find threads that will help you. Almost every question you can think of has been asked and answered already. We welcome you to the group, and wish you success. ![]() This program absolutely works. You MUST commit 100% body mind and soul. You did not get to your current weight by making good choices for yourself. As a beginning, why not add your stats into your profile? Height, current weight, and your projected goal weight. And yes, I have walked the walk and lost 112 pounds. So I truly believe in this program and work it very very seriously. Jo |

Like the others said, try going for a walk, if you have a dog, take him/her to the dog park. Just try and do an activity that does not involve food. We went to the zoo all day today and it was great! Never thought about food once. You CAN do this. Keep posting! We are all here to help and support! |
