*.*Nutricious New November! Here We Go!*.*
Here is our new thread for November! Let's make it a great one. Lots of weight lost, new recipes, and great tips for success with our Medi Weight Loss program!
Here's to November 2009! Good luck and great success to all! Jo |
"One pound a week isn't horrible. I fluctuated- some weeks would be small losses, others would yield 3+ pounds. You have to factor in that TOM, and check to see if your sodium intake is high, That could cause a slow down as you may be retaining water. The injections weekly also help you burn fat fster, so if you are only going every other week, you aren't getting that little metabolism boost. Are you exercising? Building muscle also may make it look like you aren't losing as fast."
I hadn't thought about the TOM thing, I actually started in for the weekly 2 days later after I posted this comment. I haven't being getting the extra shot but I will go in tomorrow and get it. I took a little rest from excersing, didn't really have the energy. Started back walking yesterday. Thanks Tracy for the insight. This is way I love this site; because you don't feel as though you are going at it alone. |
Hello everyone!!! I haven't posted too much but find myself getting stuck in my own head and wanting to stray....and I haven't felt this way since I started. I have a very hard time trying to create recipes which is what I keep saying I am going to do (and need to do) because I am literally....the world's most incapable cook. I don't even know how to start menu planning, shopping....anything to make some of the meals come together. My husband is the "cook" and very supportive but he also has crazy hours at times and about 4/5 nights a week I am on my own (and before Medi I would eat take out, or easy convenience foods, lots of pasta and jarred sauce). I am SOOOOOOO sick of deli meat and chicken which is pretty much all I eat.
So, my "first" new step to stay motivated and on plan is to try and be more active on this board. I am SO close to my goal. Everyone has noticed and been so kind about my weight loss but I want to GET THE REST OF THE WAY (I certainly don't want to be stuck 15 lbs heavier than my goal after all of the work!)....Any advice??? |
A question. I like a little cream in my coffee. I have read that heavy cream is more ketogenic friendly than 1/2 & 1/2. But while at the market today I looked at the stats for both and they are both pretty much identical except that heavy cream is more caloric. Does anyone use 1/2 & 1/2 with no issues?
|
Hello everyone! I posted this in the recipe questions thread but I thought I would ask here too, maybe I would get a quicker response? :dunno:
How do you count the oopsie rolls and other things such as cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, etc? These are in the recipes but do the calories count as part of the 500 calories of protein? Or do they count as something else? I'm not sure if I should be eating 500 calories of pure protein and then add the calories of the cheese and such as extra or adding them into the 500????? |
christina, one option would have him cook enough and have left overs, so you get a variety of foods. I have found its easier for me to cook lunch and then have leftovers for dinner.
I am all for having simple meals, that are taste. check out the recipe thread, some of them are super easy and good. If you do have chicken and want to flavor it up some I have found salad spritzers to be awsome for that. I have a recipe for a taco quiche with is really good, I will try and post soon. |
I put Sugar Free Hazelnut cream in two cups of coffee every day while on MWL. I'll give up anything but my morning coffee with cream. I counted the cream as 25 calories towards my overall count for the day. No adverse affects here...lost 40 in 14 weeks. Try it, if it's important to you. It truly was my non negotiable item. El

AZKim - I always use half and half - just something I wouldn't give up. My clinic didn't have a problem with it as I lost consistently. I can't do the heavy cream. I think the little bit of fat that it gives me helps me stay satiated through the day. I never kicked me out of ketosis.

Thanks! I have one other question very like Rochelle's above. Is it ok to have a little less than 500 protein calories but then have like an EAS Carb Control drink to bring the daily total calories over 500? Today I had chicken for breakfast, chicken for lunch, and venison for dinner and it came to just shy of 500 calories. I'm not not eating on purpose, just not very hungry for all the meat.

ps. - that is good to know about 1/2 & 1/2 because I've really been suffering with black coffee!
|
I don't see how you have done the black coffee! Put some SF creamer or SOMETHING in it!!!!
Can we possibly get a list going of recipes we can use or alter for Thanksgiving sides and desserts? I LOVE cranberry sauce and will miss it terribly! |

I've been playing w/ pumpkin 'pudding' variations for the last week knowing that Turkey Day and the need for pumpkin pie is right around the corner. I'm hoping somebody can maybe give me some ideas, especially for a Medi-friendly 'crust.' So far for the filling I've determined Truvia had a weird synthetic taste, but the SF maple syrup will probably work - I just overdid it in tonight's experimental batch. It reminded me of pumpkin pancakes, which isn't a bad thing, but not what I was going for!

That's all I can think of right now, but that should get you started:) Just be creative with what you CAN have and what it is you WANT. You don't have to feel like you are on a diet and you don't have to eat the same things over and over :) |

Wii Exercisers: Need Suggestions/Feedback
Hey All-
I need some opinions from those of you who use the Wii Exercise programs... My husband got me a Wii system for my B-day last week and I'm trying to decide which program to get. A friend of ours loaned me her 'Wii Fit' and her 'My personal fitness coach' programs so I'm trying those out but I guess there is also a Wii Active... ANYWAYS... I know a few of you have posted before on the different programs and was wondering if you wouldn't mind chiming in on why you like one better then the other. Thanks in advance... |

For those who are aspartame (Nutrasweet) sensitive or just prefer sucralose (Splenda), I found that Kroger has its own brand of electrolyte drink mix. It is called Kroger Sugar Free In An Instant Hydration Drink Mix. It is priced at $3 for 2 boxes of 10 packets at my local store, a regular non-sale price. I purchased it in orange flavor, and must say, it is quite tasty. I didn't purchase any other flavor yet.
If you are having unexplained headaches, dizziness or other "weird" symptoms, you may want to try this instead of using drink mix containing aspartame and see if it helps. -Jane |
Jo, 7 lbs in Sept for me.

Dear All,
I just came back from my 6th week visit. I lost 4LB last week. I'm 4 Lb away from my goal and probebly going to Maintenance next week. My total results so far: Lost 21 LB in total waight. Lost 15 LB in Fat or 23% Lost 6 inches in waist Lost 5.6 points in BMI (it's in normal range now) I would say this is the best results that I would have never expected to be so easy. Thanks to everyone here to keep it fun. Andy |

LOVE Wii Active
Quote:
I  Wii Active! It's the only excercise I got most of the summer when it was too hot to walk outside. I have gone through the 30-day program on the easiest level, but have also spent time, just working on one skill at a time, ie resistance training, cardio, etc. I like that I can personalize it to what I feel like doing that day. It will also count the calorie burn for you. I think it's a little high, and usually lower it, but it does give you a figure to start with. |
Can someone help me? I've been out of ketosis since Thursday and can't seem to get back to it. I've gone back to eating protein with only 1 serving of veggies (no fruit) for the last 3 days. My weekly losses have slowed down considerably and I don't want to be halted by not being in ketosis. Any ideas of how to "fix" this issue? I'm game for trying anything at this point just to get back into ketosis.
