Rochelle - are you doing the EAS shakes? Vanilla is my favorite and easy to swallow... eat protein with a little more fat in it - like breakfast sausage... something a little spicy might stimulate your taste buds a little...
I am the principal of an alternative high school with a daycare - everyone is sick!!!

Hello Everyone!
Week three weigh-in, didnt do so great, but I will definitely take my 1.8 lbs. I had multiple occasions where I had to eat out, but I will try to plan even more carefully this week. This makes for a total of 15 pounds in three weeks - before Medi this would have never been possible. Thanks to everyone for all the recipes - they really help

Congrats Jerry! Soon we'll be saying that we knew you before you were a superstar

Have great losses this week !

I'm afraid of my body going into "starvation mode" if I don't eat enough but I really just can't force it all down.
Rochelle, I was feeling a bit nauseous and weak last week for a few days. I didn't really want to eat ANYTHING! It was such a weird feeling for me because I usually can always think of SOMETHING I'd like to eat! I did drink a couple EAS advantedge carb control shakes and would have a protein bar of some kind to try to at least get my calories in. I hope you start feeling better soon!

You didn't do so great!!!! STOP being self defeating! You did amazing. You lost, didn't you? This is a lifestyle with it's ups and downs. Please don't make it a go or nogo based on perfection and what the scale says. Don't get me wrong, you need to commit, put don't downplay your successes. They are so important and 1.8 pounds is a success. My average weightloss during my journey averaged 2 pounds per week, yet I still lost 62 pounds and achieved my goal. Patience is the key. You did not gain this weight over night and it you will not lose it over night. Do not be short sighted, look to the long term. If Jerry had thought your way in the beginning he would have never succeeded. Each step is a step in the right direction and a step in the path of your journey. Make the steps go forward and not backwards. Celebrate every forward step and reflect on each backward step so as not to repeat it. Please, please, please, stop complaining about your losses. A loss, no matter how small, is a loss and in the right direction. You are on the right path.

I wholeheartedly agree with Susie. I lost very little last week, but I saw the positives.....namely that I ran a 5K just a few days before and never stopped to walk. I also thought about how far I have come in just a few months. Lately people have been asking me what I am "doing". I tell them that the number one thing I am doing, every morning, every struggle, every day is that I have put power in positive thinking. If you review your Medi paperwork, the number one rule you will read is to BELIEVE that you can lose weight. I knew Medi was talking to me. It was a conspiracy.....they probably had access to some database that saw that I failed at other plans because of my attitude and giving up too soon in frustration with my body/slow weight loss......It did not happen overnight---this positive thinker that I am now---- but in the beginning, I seriously evaluated why I could not lose/keep weight off over the last 20 years and my attitude came to the top of the list. I did not believe that I could be thin because I never was. Medi definitely aided in my positive thinking and helped me to believe that I can truly do anything I want to do and that in itself has been a priceless gift. So, on that note, I wish you well! It's fun to lose weight now and I look forward to each eating/social challenge so that I can practice my skills and kick the ball out of the park!

Something happened at weigh-in today that has never happened before....my FFM and TBW were the exact same down to the tenth of a pound. It was truly bizarre to see those numbers stay static to but to see my fat loss of 3 POUNDS! Yahoo!

Thanks for the support in here....

Susie- I agree. It is sometimes hard in the begining to see what a battle weight loss can be. Some weeks you are on top of the world- and others you may have a slip up- or even work really hard and not see the scale move. You really CANNOT focus too much on the scale- certainly overall it is there to show that you are making progress towards your goal- but week to week it can be overwhelming to always hope for a big loss. Think of it this way- 2lbs a week for 2 months is nearly 20lbs gone for good!

I am struggling this week with stress at work and with my TOM. All that I want to do is sit down with a bowl of ice cream I am really going to try to refocus my energy tonight- I have been having a tough time on weekdays staying as motivated with exercise- I don't know if it is because it is dark out by the time I get home from work now or because the weather is starting to change- But NO more excuses!

Thank you for the ideas. I haven't tried the EAS shakes yet but I will go get some today.. seems like a good idea to get calories in. What kind of protein bars do you buy? I bought some of the ones at the Medi clinic but if there are any other ones you like I would love suggestions!

Yes, Ma'am! There have been a few weeks of 1/2 pound losses BUT they were losses and that is all that counts! I think the number one reason people fall off the diet is they lose a 1/2 pound and tell themselves..."That isn't worth it!" Uh...yea it is! Don't look at how long it takes you to get to a goal, just make sure you are always heading towards it!

Congrats Jerry how exciting!

A woman I admire (El, you know her ) completed her very first IRONMAN this weekend and placed 3rd in a specific division...(I am waiting on the details). She started our triathlon training group several years ago as a non-profit and I am honored to know her. She is a VERY positive thinker. It's seems impossible to so many, to accomplish such tasks, but she did it AND placed. Just amazing!

Jerry,

My husband ran his FIRST 5K with me over a week ago as part of our training for a January 10K (I had a couple 5ks under my belt in past years). Well, he ran 6 miles on Sunday (4 of them pushing a jogging stroller) in just over an hour....He has never "run" before now! You will do great and I bet you will be able to do 6 miles/10K before YOU EVEN think you'll be able to (that is, way before May!). Keep it up! My longest run is now 3.75 miles, but as you probably can guess....I started at zero miles! Good for you!

WOW! I'm so excited! After a horrible week with the flu, I had my first "back on the wagon" appointment this morning. I was so afraid that I had gained quite a few pounds back, but I still lost .7 pounds! It's not a lot but it's A LOT better than a gain!

So I'm officially back on the wagon. They said I only needed to do a 3 day jump start to get back into ketosis, but we'll see. I feel pumped and excited about losing so we'll see what happens. Back to the beautiful Medi world!!!

I have yet to even think about a Triathlon, although I have done many 5ks and a few half marathons. I walk/jog them as I have one reconstructed knee and a partially torn ACL which is slowly healing along with a reconstructed ankle. Knee and ankle are skiiing injuries and the ACL is from volleyball. I can powerwalk a 9 minute mile given enough incentive and walk/jog a 10 minute mile. Funny that I can walk faster than walk/jog.
There are several 5ks coming up that several of my friends and I have entered to compete in together. There really is nothing like being up and rocking early on a bright Arizona morning!

Congrats to all who are finding their way to physical fitness!

And Jerry, WOW...you are just the best!

Susie,
Thanks for the swift kick in the behind - I really needed it. I keep on forgetting that this is a learning process - and your are sooo right! The hardest part has become the mental aspect of the weightloss, and coming to terms that the fact that I could actually be something else other than obese. My mind does not know how to visualize myself as an adult at a regular weight. The thought of losing weight has always been a dream, but I would even say that Im kind of scared at the concept of not having all this weight on me. I used to be an addictions counselor and the one thing I always told my clients is that they were hiding behind the substance abuse, but in reality I guess that is what I am doing too. I need to really embrace the fact that I can and will change my eating habits and become a healthier person overall.

Sarai,

Believe me, I know how hard it is to believe that this time it will work. That the weight will come off. I had tried just about every diet known to man over the course of 16 years and failed over and over again. I had the mindset of a failure. But Medi is different. You will do this, you will succeed.

Simply Amayzing

This WOE is simply amayzing. I finished my first week of being in maintenance phase. My clinic up my calories to 1200 a day from 700 and added starch, bread, rice as well and I still lost 4 pounds.

I was going to be happy even if I stayed same but what a surprise.

WAY TO GO!!!
Maintenance is great, but scary at the same time. Go slow on the calorie intake. Welcome to the maintenance club!!

Oh my gosh! I have lost 243 pounds!
