I've only had my journal checked twice in 7 visits. This week I said I was out of ketosis and the NP said to quit checking it. I don't usually feel rushed, but sometimes I definitely do.

Hi Sharon - your NP said to quit checking for ketosis? This is a thermogenic diet - ketosis is the key... having said that, ketosis looks different for people - there are a lot of good posts about it if you do a search... are you over checking?

wow Sharon! sorry to hear that... for the amount of $$ we spend, i would be upset if I felt rushed out or something i needed clarified wasnt... hope it gets better for you. My daughter goes to the one on Providence Rd and she feels rushed there sometimes too, and they hardly ever check her journal... plus they never told her she was entitled to a discount for being a teacher ! She was upset about that one!

I have never had them check my journal. Not once in almost 7 months. They ask "do you keep a journal" and I say "yes, online" and that's it.

I too have a very dissapointing staff at my Medi. They rush you in and out like cattle....except in a few months we won't be cattle... Thanks again for all the advise. I am liking this WOL so far!

Nomorerolls,
What medi do you go to in NY? My sister lives in Queens and she told me that there is none in near her.

Thanks, Sarai

Hi Jessica,
I was kind off shocked to read your post. I have to say that I feel really lucky because the physician always goes through my journal as if she was grading a test. She crosses out, and circles and then she talks to me about what she wants me to modify for the week. The clinic I go to has been very supportive. It's not the best about being timely when I am running in and out of my office, but I am willing to sacrifice for the quality. I believe this has been essential for me. Her feedback helps me how to deal with issues each week. For the cost of this program, I think I would say something if I did not receive the full support. That is why you are paying for a medically supervised program. Some people do just fine without it I guess, but I need to be held accountable.

Continue losing ,
Sarai

Thank you, Jerry! I'm so sorry to hear about the recent losses in your life and I certainly hope things improve soon. I think you've done a great job to continue losing at this point. Maintaining your current loss during a stressful time is good enough! Keep your chin up!

Joe is the only one who checks my journal and I intend to ask for him when I go. I have already asked to see Korinna for my injections each time. I feel supported by the two of them and that is important to me!

Sharon-Not sure which clinic you go to but until you are in maintenance, you should continue to check for ketosis first thing every morning-regardless of the advice you received at the clinic. El

Thanks Jessica! I actually had another weigh-in last night and lost 2.8 more lbs! Really excited to be in the 170s! I have lost 45.8 lbs so far

My next weigh in isn't for 2 weeks (bc of thanksgiving) so I am focused on staying on track. I was really hoping to lose 50lbs by Christmas and now I think I can make it!

Congrats to all of you losers out there! Everyone is doing so awesome! Can you imagine a holiday season where we actually lose weight instead of gain it!? If you think of it that way when you lose 10lbs but would have normally gained 10lbs that is a 20lb swing!

P.S.- Jessica- we have not set a date yet but we are looking at early Spring 2011... That gives me an entire year to tone up after I hit goal weight! I have set a reward for myself to start trying on dresses in February (hopefully will be at goal weight by then)! So very excited- and this process has proven even more to me how great of a husband my fiance will be. He has been so incredibly supportive and wonderful throughout the entire process : )

Haha! So it turns out that kilograms do not translate directly into pounds. HAHA! I was wondering why everyone was freaking out! I LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for caring. XD I guess I should amend a few things where I said "pounds".

You crazy Yanks.

Oh my goodness lol. Thank god! I was seriously disturbed about what you had said and was hoping that someone would intervene. 95lbs at 5'8" would be very very scary.

so you currently weigh about 285 lbs and want to get down to 210lbs? That is how your start/current/goal would convert from kilograms to lbs. Is that right?

The Importance of Journalling

Just got back from my weigh in and I lost another 3.2 lbs!!! WITHOUT EXCERSIZING!!

Now, I was (and still am) under a lot of stress, so that may have kicked up my metabolism a bit, but I dont give my total loss to the stress... I give it to... JOURNALING!!

My challenge this week was to journal everyday and I did (you can check out my days in the challenge thread).

Knowing what I was consuming with all the water and the supplements incorporated just kept everything on track and Im very happy with this success.

So, now that my official 4 weeks on medi are over, here are my stats:

Started on 10/23/09 at 184.6 Lbs and 42.5% FAT
NOW 4 weeks later on 11/20/09 Im 166.2 Lbs and 39% FAT
With a total loss of 18.4Lbs and yes... 2 FULL dress sizes.

Tight 12 (really should have been wearing a 14) to a loose 10. I had all my size 12 clothes taken in... in a few weeks I'll go into my attic and dust off my Size 8 box and see what I can wear again!

Wooohooo!!! This feels soo good!!

I still cant believe a whole 4 weeks went by... its amazing! I cant wait to see what next month brings!!

Yep! Is that a not good first goal? I guess there is no harm in aiming for a lower number but I don't want to be overwhelmed.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the program. I just had my 1st official weigh in after the initial visit and I am down 11.8 pounds (and I just started my period yesterday, so I probably have a little water retnetion)! I'm super excited because it wasn't excruciatingly hard like I thought it would be. I have read through dozens and dozens of pages on the Medi part of this site and they very much helped me through my first week.

Anyways, I just thought I'd introduce myself!

No, that is a great first goal. I was just confused from your earlier posts how you had said you had such a small frame etc.

Shmessica- Wow, that's a relief. You might want to put kg next to your Stats to make it easier for people to follow you. And I think that's a great 1st goal. Your starting weight (in pounds) is close to what mine was and you can see where I am now. I am 5'9" and my current goal is 175 (pounds) but I am beginning to think I may want to go a little further. 210 is a great 1st goal but don't shortchange yourself

That's an excellent starting point. What a relief that you're not anorexic! Now your question makes more sense.

Make sure you read all the labels on what you eat. There are more carbs than you think in a lot of products. Drink at least 64 oz of water a day. 120 oz is better. That's how the fat leaves your body. My college roommate said not drinking enough water is like trying to rinse the shampoo out of your hair without enough water. Your body just doesn't work properly.

Try to move every day, too, even if it's just a little walk.

Week one is tough, but it goes quickly. Then you can make some of the yummy stuff in the recipe threads.

Good luck!
