I had carb control yogurt after lunch today and will limit my jello to twice a week. I lost 1.6 lbs this part week.. so still heading in the right direction. We have lost the same amt of weight.. me 19.6 in 4 weeks.. cant beat that... Congrats on your great loss this week!

Rochelle- It happens to the best of us! I had a week a couple of weeks ago when I was down 0.4 pounds but was retaining 6 pounds of water!! Ouch! Hang in there, chug chug chug your water, and seriously watch your salt intake as well.

I don't think so...as you have increased you water intake, you system is flushing itself better and I bet, if you look at your water pecentage, you will see that it is decreasing. The water content and fat content always seem to counter-balance each other, for me anyway! You will soon notice those numbers reversing, as long as you continue to get your fluids in!

nomorerolls - fruit kicked my out of ketosis pretty quickly - I only eat it a few times a week and usually berries.. you will find out for yourself. I cook up a couple of breakfast sausage and eat them on the way to work...

I can't take their vitamins at all. The give me horrible diarrhea. You should ask your clinic what other brand they recommend. I took in my multi-vitamin and they said it was fine to take. I have been taking that instead since the 1st week.

Nice that SOMEBODY there is checking journals. I journal meticulously and nobody even looks at them, except for the times I've gotten Joe. He does give good advice. I'd feel a lot better if someone were actually examining what I eat. I don't like finding out the hard way that something isn't right.

Trivia: Joe has a twin brother who is an EXCELLENT elementary school teacher. Those boys were raised right.

I take all of the medi supplements one pill at a time with a HUGE swig of water! It helps me get my water in and I don't notice the taste.

I don't eat those things either! Pretty much every morning for breakfast I have one of the EAS Advantedge Carb Control Ready to Drink Shakes and it works for me.

I go in for my weigh-in tonight and then don't go again for 2 weeks, as I will be out of town for Thanksgiving. I haven't missed a week yet for a weigh in so I am hoping that I will stay strong and accountable!

Sharon - if you want your clinic to look at your journal, bring it and show them. I never had my clinic look at it - but it was my bible in terms of knowing what foods would kick me out of ketosis. Super important for your own information! (Sugarless gum kicks me out - who would have thought?).

Good luck tomorrow! You must be very short if you have flab to get rid at 128 lbs!

5'8" but I have a really small bone structure. My weight is a little misleading due to that.

I'm ready for a change. I tried to lose weight at the start of this month but since then only lost 2 pounds. But everyone I know that has done MEDI lost like 10+ pounds their first week! I must know the secret because I hardly ate ANYTHING so far and still have crappy results.

On note with the vitamins I have to cut them in half especially the fat burner and calcium... They are way to big and I have gagged a couple times

Good luck Shmessica you can do it!

SO HUGE accomplishment for me! We are having a Thanksgiving mixer with my sorority and I made Paula Deans Symphony Brownies... And did not eat any! I also made the MWL Pumpkin casserole so I could have a for sure side to go with my Turkey to not throw me off! Planning is everything with this diet!

Jerry- So very sorry for your loss. Please keep us posted and keep coming around for support during this difficult time.

Shmessica- Are you seriously doing Medi through a clinic? 95 pounds for a woman who is 5'8" is SEVERELY underweight to the point of anorexia. That would put your BMI at 14.4, which is extremely unhealthy. 128 is already at the low end of the normal weight range for your height. Perhaps your body is not losing weight because there is nothing to lose. Are you sure you really need to be on a diet? I am concerned.

Down another 3 pounds today.

Those automatic BMI things are so inaccurate I'm surprised anybody goes by them anymore. So many factors aren't figured in like your build (bone structure) muscle mass whatever.

And I'm not actually going to the clinic, I'm just following my friend's routine and she has all the info and what not. I'm so proud of her, she has lost like almost 80 pounds or something like that.

You're only 130 pounds at 5'8 and I know you say you have small bone structure, but you're in the normal end of your weight range. The 10+ pound weight losses are typically from people much heavier than you. This diet is too structured for someone like you to do unsupervised. You're using it like a crash diet and it isn't. You will be on a yo-yo cycle forever if you rely on crash diets and that takes a toll on your liver, kidneys and heart.

Make sure you're eating ENOUGH for the amount of activity you do and drink lots of water. At your weight, you could easily fall into starvation mode. I'm a lot heavier than you, but I was in starvation mode one week because I'm pretty active and was eating too little.

Also, if you build muscle you'll be thinner even if you weigh the same. My daughter weighs 135 at 5'6" but she's a soccer player and her fat % is very low. You'd never guess that she weighs so "much". She wears a 2 or a 4; at 130, I would wear an 8. I'd forget this if I were you and hit the gym.

BMI aside, the HAMWI measurement scale which IS an acceptable measure shows the ideal body weight for a small frame, 5'8" women to be 126 MINIMUM!!

You are already there for the most part. My suggestion, see a doctor before you undertake any additonal weightloss. Realize that pushing your weight below where your body should be, can lead to long term health and weight issues. Good luck but please don't do this without medical supervision! El

HAMWI METHOD: IDEAL BODY WEIGHT

Height (inches)

IBW Small Frame (lbs)
IBW Medium Frame (lbs)
IBW Large Frame (lbs)

Like Jessica, I am extremely concerned that you want to weigh 95 pounds at 5'8" tall. I am so concerned that I spoke with my personal physican and a fellow exercise physiologist. You are already at a weight that is questionable for your height, and although I do not know your age or your circumstances, what you are planning to do is totally unhealthy. Even with a "small bone structure" it is unhealthy. Why don't you post a picture of how you look today so we can see just how "overweight" you are, because I am almost certain that you are having a body image issue rather than a weight issue. Sorry to be so blunt, but that is how it sounds to me. Even with a small bone structure, being totally physically fit (and I am in doubt about that as well) your very bones weigh AT LEAST 95 pounds.

Furthermore, if you went to a MWL clinic, I can GUARANTEE you that they would NOT accept you as a client because you are already at a very low weight. Doing this on you own totally frightens me and concerns me about your health and welfare. And deep down, I think you know this. I also question the wisdom of your "friend" giving you the information in the first place.

I have been an athlete all of my life, and the least I have ever weighed is when I was playing college volleyball and basketball and teaching an exercise class as well. At 5"11" I was at 147 and extremely physically fit. Now that I am older, I weigh in at 150-152 in maintenance. And that is still light for me. I have been cautioned by my physician and my clinic NOT to lose anymore.

As the members of this forum will tell you, I call it like I see it. I have walked the walk and talked the talk. I have lost the weight I gained over the past 15 years, regained my full physical fitness. But my weight loss was doctor recommended and monitored. Have you even spoken with a doctor about this? I would bet not.

If you are angry with me for my statements, it is what it is. I can only comment on what you have written. And very frankly, you scare me to pieces with your plans for yourself.

Jo

Shmessica~ Wow, this a tad scary. I hate to say this, but I have a very close friend who is 5' 8" and is 110 pounds and is dealing with major issues with a counselor since she is so under weight. I know everyones structure is different, but I would honestly seek the knowledge of a physician if I were you. I do wish you the best..

Shmessica, I too am 5'8" and at my absolute thinnest I weighed in at around 135. I cannot even imagine being 40lbs lighter than that at 5'8". I think that it is very important that you meet with a doctor.

"hardly eating anything" is not a healthy way to lose weight and can do serious damage to your body.

Medi weight loss is a "medically" supervised weight loss program for a reason- and should not be taken on without at least an initial consultation with a physician.

weighing 95lbs for a woman much shorter than you is still extremely unhealthy. To weigh 95lbs and be 5'8" is very dangerous. I hope that instead of taking our words to offense that you will speak with a doctor. I think that you really need some help and I truly hope that you find someone that can help you.

I'm ready for a change. I tried to lose weight at the start of this month but since then only lost 2 pounds. But everyone I know that has done MEDI lost like 10+ pounds their first week! I must know the secret because I hardly ate ANYTHING so far and still have crappy results.
