I also had my week four weigh-in and couldnt believe when the scale said I had lost 5 lbs. this week! This makes a total of 20 pounds in 28 days. I can actually feel like I can do this and you guys have been great support! Your achievements give me strength - thanks

Hi everyone... I was so tempted to cancel my appt. for this AM because I felt like I was retaining water (I was out of town for a few days) and the last thing I wanted to see on the scale was a gain. But I did not want to start a bad habit (such as focusing on such small things such as water gain when the bigger picture is the real testament to my new life)! I am really happy that I went in and I am writing this to let you know that if you ever feel this way on your journey, just go in!

I am retaining water, but I did not gain! And I lost another pound of fat!!! If I had not gone in, I would not have known that and would then feel "guilty" for not going in, you know? So, life is great and I am happy and I am going to have an awesome week (and no travel)! I ran 4 miles at an 11:40 pace this weekend. I am really excited that I have surpassed the mental barrier with regards to running. I was so scared of "failing" at it that I never considered it for exercise, but I am glad I got over that mental block. I am also starting my running sessions this Saturday and it will be nice to have professionals guide/train me.

Have a great week and congrats to all the losers in here!

Second weigh in today, starting week three. Only lost 2 pounds, though it all came from fat so I guess that's a good thing. Have to start exercising more, I guess. After the 12 pound loss the first week I was really hoping for something a little more :P

Hi all,

In maintenance phase what is the fat budget and carb budget per day for a 1200 calories budget?

Huggyface - don't lose perspective as this is a way of life, not a quick fix. Losing 14 pounds in two weeks is really significant... most people consistently lose a few pounds a week after the first week. Just stay with it and it will happen...

Huggyface- My medi clinic says if you average your losses together and have 5 you are fine! for example I lost 8.5 week one and 3 week two which averages to 5.75 a week!
Yours would be 7 pounds averaged which is awesome!

I hope that's only for the first month, because I promise you after that you will not average 5 pounds per week. Just wanted to clarify so that people don't get confusing information.

Melissa and Kate, we have GOT to meet up! I was there at 10 this morning and I would have LOVED to see the two of you!

Speaking of being there - I went for my weigh in today and lost 5.5 pounds! So I'm at a total of 19.6 lost in 31 days! I'm so excited!!!!

I got some great advice from Joe today too, and I wanted to share it with everyone. It makes total sense to me, but I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. He said to make sure I'm not starting a bad habit. He went through my food journal and saw that I'm eating something sweet - whether it's a medi-dessert, jello, or even a piece of fruit - as my last thing for the day - generally pretty late in the evening. He made the point that if I make it a habit to still have my "dessert", when I start re-introducing carbs and sugars back in, my body will still crave that dessert and I could be setting myself up for failure. He said that if you're going to have any sort of sweet snack, try to make it at breakfast or lunch and try to only do this 3 times per week. It made perfect sense to me and I plan to follow it!

Now, with that being said, do you think it's bad to have an evening cup of tea? I think that sounds like a great way to unwind, but I don't want to start it if it's going to be a bad habit. What do you think?

Jennifer - I have a cup of tea every night. Has not had an effect on me. It is just plain black tea with 1/2 packet splenda. It relaxes me and I find it very satisfying. One thing is that I do not allow myself the tea unless I have had all my water for the day. Hope that helps! Congrats on the weight loss! That is great!!

Jennifer, i have needed a sweet fix also! Ive been having sugar free chocolate mousse from Jello with nonfat cool whip on top, it has like 5 carbs! so good. Or a decaf sugar free swiss mocha that has two carbs.. its good and gives you the sweet fix. Not sure how medi-pure it is, but it works for me. yum

I guess my thing was I didn't really feel like I NEEDED a sweet fix - I just did it out of habit. That seemed to be the thing to do - at the end of the day unwind with a little treat. But it's a TRICK not a treat! I don't want to end up right back where I started. I intend to change my habits so that I keep this weight off. I have no problems switching, I just wanted to find a healthier way to unwind. Tea sounds like a winner - I just need to check for the caffeine. Thank you all for your input.

I have another question - has anyone noticed an INCREASE in your fat % over the first few weeks? Mine has steadily crept up to 2% higher than it was when I started. Should I be worried?

There is a pudding recipe in the desserts thread. I would be careful with those jello things because they're sold in packs. I would imagine it would be quite easy to grab another, then another, then another.

Jennifer...

I got the same thing from Joe this week!!!! I too had been splurging almost every night on sugar free jello! Yep, the same thing as you.. just habit... I think it was sound advice he gave... I had carb control yogurt after lunch today and will limit my jello to twice a week. I lost 1.6 lbs this part week.. so still heading in the right direction. We have lost the same amt of weight.. me 19.6 in 4 weeks.. cant beat that... Congrats on your great loss this week!

Jerry and Susie, youre in my thoughts..

Well I went for my week 4 weigh in and I didn't lose anything! Not even an ounce!!! They did say that my water went up 4 pounds and that my fat mass went down. I guess I didn't drink enough water and there were a few days that I didn't get all of my 500 protein calories in.
She also told me not to eat fruit everyday because the sugar may be making my ketosis levels go down. I had a feeling this wasn't going to be a great week but I thought I would maybe lose like ONE atleast. But oh well.. on to week 5! Now I will make sure to get all that water in and all 500 of my calories!

I wasn't feeling well for a few days so I just didn't want to eat. I tried to get them all in but I just couldn't eat. I know now that even if that happens I need to atleast have a protein shake or bar to get all those calories in!
