Help me over the hump!
I have been doing medi weightloss since July with great success. Recently, I have been "slacking" off on my program. I still eat withing my guidelines but have stopped journaling and don't drink all of my water. I have also slowed down on my exercise. My weightloss has continued but has slowed down. I read these posts to keep me motivated but feel like I am in a rut. I need to get excited all over again the way I did in the beginning. Every morning I wake up and say, "Today my goal is to write everything down and drink my water" but I disappoint myself when I don't follow through. I usually eat in a rush because I cook 2 meals-my family's first and then my meal. By the time my meal is finished-they are done and moving on to something else (main reason I forget to journal). Like so many of you, I am always on the go. Has this happened to anyone and how did you get out? I have worked too hard to mess things up.
Thanks! ![]() |

First, congrats on what you have accomplished so far! You have done great!!! It does get hard to journal when you are on the go all the time. I agree! I use thedailyplate.com to journal because it is online and I put the app on my Blackberry. Maybe that is an option for you. If not, put up post-it notes all over to remind yourself to drink your water and journal. At times I can get slack with my water. Last weekend I went to Target and bought myself a new water bottle that I LOVE! Maybe something like that would help?
About the meals, is there a way for you to make your meal with your family and all eat together? I have been eating with my husband and daughter since week 2. I eat the protein and the veggie. I always make a starch (rice, potato etc) and just give it to them. Does not bother me at all and this way we can all eat together. There are times I know my 2 year old will not eat what I am making so I will make her something else that is quick and easy but we still try and eat at the same time. Maybe think about doing it this way? My last suggestion is to put yourself back on week 1 to give your body a jump start and a good weight loss week to get you motivated again. YOU CAN DO THIS! We are all here to motivate and support you! |

Hi momof2 -lost my connection last night -
I have been through some of those moments and I, too, wished that I had the vigor I had in the beginning- but I kept plodding through and now that I am on the other side I just want to tell you that is was totally worth sticking with it. Although at certain weights I would feel like it might be 'good enough' - I think it was partly because I had forgotten how good thin feels. I had to find some easier ways - I keep a 'sticky' note in my pocket now and write everything down instead of making it 'pretty' in my journal. I keep a jug of water in my fridge at home and my fridge at work and drink them everyday. Just made it a habit and never think about it... I know that it is one thing to have someone tell you that its worth it - and for you to know (and just do it) - but it is worth it. If food is what makes you excited - like different flavors than you are getting now - either spice it up or just go do something else... Let us know how it goes - anytime.. it was great that you put your thoughts out there for us to respond to... best wishes!

You speak of "goals" which is fine, but rather than have these as goals, something you will try to accomplish, just make them a commitment, something you will and must accomplish. Reading of the success of others who commit and follow through with the program where you choose not to (believe me, it really is a choice - we are all "busy") will only serve to depress and disappoint you further. Get back with the program. Commit to YOURSELF! You may have subconscious fears and insecurities that make you feel that you are not worthy of the success and the health. These can be sabotaging your effort. Don't let them. We have all tried and failed at other programs in the past, but MEDI is the plan that works - if you will only work their plan. You are worth it - just commit to yourself today!!! -Jane |

Thank you all for the great suggestions-I will definately give them a try. I do think boredom has a lot to do with it-maybe trying something like a new water bottle or online journaling will help give me the spark I need to keep going. I recently lost my water bottle and that is actually when I slowed down on the water. I also have been going to bed earlier so I can exercise before I wake my kids up-this way I am not too tired or busy at the end of the day. It has worked for two days so far. I will keep my fingers crossed & my spirits high! Back to week 1 I go!
I wish I had a friend to do this with-I haven't told anyone what I am doing because I don't need the negative comments about what they think is "healthy" or not. Just this little bit of encouragement was so helpful! For now, you are all my friends! |
