Jessica is right in that the caloie counts on Daily Plate are high. I do the same thing she does and understate the time to make up for it. Please make sure you are eating your 500 calories and let the clinic no how much you are exercising so they can adjust your calories if they need to. |

My weight fluctuates somedays as much as 4 pounds. I am assuming it is mostly from water because I don't eat enough calories to warrant a 4 pound gain in 1 day. Never the less, when that happens I watch my sodium, drink lots of water, and cut my calories way back until I see the scale get back on track. I constantly have to work on drinking water. It does not come easy for me. I have been eating around 1500 calories and keeping my carbs below 50 grams on a regular basis. Per my clinics advice, I only have the occasional carb heavy food. I still don't eat bread, pasta, or rice. I don't want the cravings to come back. If my family wants baked potatoes with dinner, I will scoop mine completely out and have the skin with butter spray, a sprinkle of reduced fat bacon bits and a tablespoon of fat free sour cream. I use oopsie rolls for bread and still eat miracle noodles on a regular basis, especially if I am trying to cut back on calories. I hope this helps. It is not easy, but so worth it!

And definitely don't be shy or embarrassed to do what's good for you. I just posted a new message on the newbie thread too- this morning, near the end of the Today Show on NBC, Ann Curry politely rejected Paula Deen's offer of the coffee cake that Paula had just prepared. Ann said that she was sorry but that she is carb-free. This skinny person said this on national tv. She did not cave in or get embarrassed. She is thin. She is asserting herself on behalf of herself. She also let us in on her secret to staying thin. Paula did not try to press Ann to take it - no one did. You can do this - it's not like you have to announce it on national tv like Ann did. You're telling people who love and care about you what you are doing for your health. They should want to support you in that mission. Good luck at your m-i-l's and everywhere! -Jane Last edited by luvlonghorns; 10-09-2009 at 08:14 AM.. Reason: sp. |

Just got back from my week 4 weigh-in. I am down another -2.6 lbs! Making my 4 week total -15.2! Honestly, I am very proud of myself at this point. I have never stuck to a eating plan like this before in my life. And I have had SO many urges to eat things that I know I should not and fought those urges! Hopefully, this time next month I can at least have 10% of what I want to lose gone. I love Medi!

congrats to all of you losers!
way to go! i only lost 1lb. this week. WTH? i'm doing everything i'm supposed to. journaling, drinking my water, not going over my calories, exercising, you name it. i feel so discouraged and just want to throw in the towel! i have been having days where i just want to cheat and eat a plateful of carbs and then binge on ice cream. what is wrong with me? i need to snap out of this and just keep on going. easier said than done though, i guess. keep up with the inspiring stories please; i need to hear them. |

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to all the LOSERS! I am again inspired!
![]() Day 3 - I am feeling VERY shaky this morning but didn't eat much. I am feeling SICK OF MEAT! OMG I would not be surprised if I become a complete vegetarian after this week! I would rather eat DIRT than another hunk of flesh!!! But I'm soldering through it. I keep thinking that in a few days I'll be able to have BROCCOLI! YAY! I'm just not a big meat eater at all, but I also don't eat eggs or cottage cheese, so I've been scarfing down the birds, pigs, and cows lately! ![]() I think this weekend will be all about creativity. With us being at my MIL's, my daughter's birthday party and my new aversion to anything sliced at the deli counter, I guess I'll have to break down and COOK! EGADS! But I'm sure I'll make it. In a few moments I'll go use my first Ketostick to see if I'm actually doing this whole thing right. WISH ME LUCK!!!!

Hang in there. Yes you can! I just finished my first week. I had doubts I could get through it, but I did. I love food, desserts and chocolate, you name it. However, I was determined. i took it one day at a time and wrote everything down. Going to my weigh-in yesterday was like waiting for exam results. Here are my results so : Start weight 247lbs Lost 12 lbs BMI from 33.4 down to 31.8 Fat % 35% down to 31.9% Fat mass 86.2lbs down to 75.lbs So, YES you can!! Keep chugging |

Hi I was just trying to find information on this diet but it seems I dont have a clinic close to me. Well one is close but in NJ which makes a 20 mile drive over and hour and a very expensive bridge anywho. Is there a way to do this diet without going to a clinic? I am just curious and if someone could give me a brief rundown I would appreciate it...Thanks.

I WAS THERE - looking like a total bum today - but I sure was! That is too cool!!! We should meet up som.etime and SHARE! I'm getting better - I'm in ketosis so that's incouraging and I'm feeling a little bit better. I just need to make sure I don't go anytime without eating because CLEARLY I can't handle it now. I am also going to try the soup. I've been eating the Jello and it's suddenly so much better than it ever has been, but someone on this group said it's limited to 2 the first week. I had one cup on day 1 and one on day 2, so I'm trying to stay away.... but I am REALLY struggling to eat all of my calories. Who ever thought I'd have this problem?
I can't wait to see what I've lost because WHEW today is kickin my butt! I did get in a 20 minute walk outside, so we'll see... |

I said my clinic limited me to 2 in the first week. which I felt fortunate to have because some clinics don't allow it at all. You should ask your clinic. Eating only protein in the first week is really hard, but you need to stick to it. It will make a big difference. Have you tried shrimp with Walden Farms seafood sauce? You get quite a few shrimp for the calories. I splurged and had fillet mignon on the grill the first week. While I was really getting tired of all the protein, I didn't mind that hunk of flesh too much. Fresh grilled meats taste so much better than deli lunchmeat. Try adding sweetner, cinnamon and vanilla extract to your cottage cheese. If you don't like the texture, put it in the blender. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. |

I went back to my journals to review week 1 and I had shrimp, salmon, morningstar sausage crumbled into egg whites, kebabs (shrimp/chicken combo using a George Foreman Grill marinade of garlic and a little olive oil/lemon juice), turkey burgers, ground turkey with taco seasoning. I remember that I ate the salmon at a restaurant coming back from a trip and putting all the broccoli and half the salmon in the to go box. The next day, my 1st weigh in, I really did enjoy a portion of the broccoli! IN fact that one restaurant serving lasted me 3 days and each day was delicious to me!
My clinic told me to eat a tablespoon of olive oil/dressing OR 6 almonds each day the first week to prevent gallbladder sludge. One day, I broiled tilapia with lime juice and put crushed almonds on top. You can still experiment. It doesn't have to be too boring! CaGirl, I am sorry you are having cravings. They may need to up your AS. Please tell them to help you! Also, getting steps in is really important in addition to "working" out. I wear a pedometer and keeping an eye on my steps is a great indicator of my overall activity for the day. Also, there were 2 weeks that my losses were kinda pitiful. Well, I went back and reviewed the foods for both of those weeks and WOW...there was a link with "brisket". I will never eat brisket within 3 days of weigh-in! Brisket is certainly a higher fat food, but we made it for a family affair. I did not realize how much salt the recipe called for (because I was not the one cooking)!

Hi All -
Jo - thanks for your great words - I actually printed it out and put it in my journal. When I took a look at everything going on in my life I realized that I felt a little loose in a lot of areas so today - I started back on week one. It's now almost 7:30 PM and I feel better already. I realize that that is the great thing about this WOE - when it feels a little out of control I know where to go and I know what to do. That's what makes it a WOE and a WOL (way of life) for me. I think I may make a bumper sticker: My WOE is my WOL! ![]() Great job Jerry - the photos of you in the chair are priceless.

This is not Medifast, it is Medi-Weightloss. It is just lean protein in the first week. If you would like to learn more please read the first few pages of the newbie thread.

A Few Quick Questions
1. Is it ok to chew sugarfree gum during the first week? Like Orbit or something similar?
2. The clinic I'm going to said to eat 500-800 calories of protein per day in the first week. Does that sound right? Or should it be closer to 500 than 800? 3. If I cook fish, is it ok to use a little Pam to do so or is there something that may be better? 4. I love rotisserie chicken and have a rotisserie at home. But the prep for a rotisserie chicken is typically olive oil on the skin and other spices to make the chicken good. I know not to eat the skin but do you think the oil soaks into the chicken? I guess I could try doing it with no oil but was just curious. thanks! |
