I love my LC cheese too! Harris Teeter does have the LC Lite Cheeses in the deli area with all the other deli cheeses (Stonecrest HT anyway.) Trader Joes is much cheaper though. Just be sure to get the Lite version. Each wedge is 35 calories. BJ's has them as well in a 3 pack, but I can't remember pricing.

The little LC Babybel Light semi-soft cheese rounds are pretty good too. I think these are 50 calories each.

Jennifer - great loss for your 2nd week!!!

Ashley, thank you so, so much!! This gives me great ideas of where to start and how much of what I can have. After reading all of the other comments about the Laughing Cow cheese, I will be certain to find that. Thank you again so much! I am so excited to begin this program and it is in large part to this support system. I am in awe of the amazing progress all of you are making and your willingness to share and inspire others.

I really hope that helps you.. Some of my FAVS as you see are Laughing Cow cheese (these I ADORE). I have been trying to be creative and mix things up now. We had Ahi Tuna tonight that was TO DIE FOR!!! Then my husband and I realized we had not eatten all our protein for the day (I am finiding this does get hard once you are past week 1) so we ate a LC cheese.. LOL! Feel free to ask me anything at all.. by second week you look at your journal and "know" what you are eatting and I am not wondering.. how did I ever eat a ton more than I am now.. but, I surely did..

So, I would LOVE input on what people's FAVS are.. I LOVE LC cheese. I thank GOD for it! How are the walden syrups and marshmallow stuff, choc???
First let me ask you this. How did you start running? Did you walk and incorporate running with it, like in intervals? I have always wanted to be able to run but have not felt that I was in good enough shape to do it. Plus I am very top heavy and would need a KILLER sports bra! I have one that is good, but it's not KILLER! lmao!! It would need to be a NO BOUNCE OR NO MOVE bra for me.
I love the Laughing Cow cheese too! I have also been eating in my egg beater omlets the Reduced Fat Provolone Cheese-Sargento's, along with my roast beef-Oscar Meyer natural type, only 35 cal. per slice! I am not a fish person, but I did buy Mahi Mahi for my family and cooked in lemon pepper and lemon juice and they loved it. I did taste it but do not care for it still. I also buy the Dannon carb control/sugar control yogurt cups 4 pack-the vanilla, and need to try the strawberry too. Also, the Emerald brand cocoa almonds snack pack! They are SO good, they are 100 calories. As far as meats, I usually do pork tenderloins or center cut pork chops, turkey breast, and chicken breast. I also eat alot of celery hearts-especially since they are free. I also like the Peter Pan whipped peanut butter with it from time to time if I do not have my almonds that day. The peanut butter is 150 cal. per 2 Tbsp. and usually takes the edge off. I have looking for a low carb chocolate protein shake and haven't found one under 4 carbs. And for my veggies I usually have broccoli, cauliflower or other lettuce that is not free. I have stayed away from fruits all together, just do not want to go out of ketosis.

Candy~ Honestly, I joined an amazing local training group for Triathlons called "Tri it for life". It is ladies only and they teach you from the very beginning.. Alot of the athletes couldnt even swim. It is just awesome!!! They partnered me with a mentor and I met weekly with my mentor. The running has always been my least fav thing of working out, but I just DO IT! seriously, I personally love to do bricks (bricks for me are 10 mile bike, 2 mile run) now and find you pull the energy within that you just dont realize you have until you push yourself through the burn.. ykwim? Do you belong to a gym? I love the YMCA. There is just so much variety there. I usually run/bike one day, swim and rotate from there. I plan to start some classes this week and I am SUPER excited about that. My girls have had the flu for a week so they are just now well (thank God) so I missed working out ALL week last week which isnt like me at all.. I am feeling it too.. I get more stressed out when I dont release my stress via working out.. (more info than you wanted but its the truth.. LOL :P)

A great beginners running program is Couch to 5k. It literally teaches you to run at a slow/steady pace. You can even download it to your ipod.. I highly recommend it..
I am heavy chested too. I wear 2 sport bras everytime I workout. I cant stand them to even budge.. LOL.. The key is to go and get fitted for a good running shoe. I love the local shop "Run for your life". They will fit you to the shoe that is best for you (and they have great running bras for all sizes). Granted they are pricey but you will see an amazing difference from your Nike you buy at TJ Max and these. Then, set a goal for yourself.. I am making sure I have a few 5k's here and there. My next one is the Jingle Jog here in Charlotte (if anyone else wants to do it with me and my friends we would love that) and then I have my next Triathlon in March. So, I have to get busy back into my training soon.

Set a goal.. You CAN do this.. I promise you..

When I started running (don't do it anymore because I REALLY hate it even though it is GREAT exercise!), I bought a WONDERFUL sports bra that I absolutely love! Here is a link to the website. It is seriously heavy duty but really works! Welcome to Enell

Wow...your workout is similar to mine!

Monday: 1 hour cycle class, walk 1/2 mile, run 1 mile, walk 1/2 mile
Tuesday: Weights, Walk 1 mile, jog 1 mile, 1 hour cycle class
Wednesday: Walk 1 mile, jog 1 mile
Thursday: Weights, Walk 1 mile, Jog 1 mile, 1 hour cycle class
Friday: Walk 2 miles, jog 2 miles
Saturday: Weights, 1 hour cycle class, walk 1 mile, jog 1 mile
Sunday: 2 x 1 hour cycle classes back to back

Using the track at my gym, (12 laps = 1 mile), I started by walking 3 laps (1/4 mile), jog 3 laps, and so on for 2 miles to start. Then went 3 walk, 6 jog and now do 6 walk 12 jog. Next I am pushing it to 6 walk and 18 jog.

Great losses everyone!!! Keep up the great work!

Candy - I am 5 feet and started Medi at 248 pounds and started running my second week....you can definitely do it! I highly recommend the Couch to 5k program. This is what I used and it works! I am done with it now and run 2-3 miles 3-4 times per week. I am not saying it is a pretty sight (oh and about the bras...I wear 2 sports bras at a time ) but I do it and each week it gets easier with less weight on me. Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

I also do Jillians 30 day shred 2-3 times per week. This gets in my weights and resistence. I know I need to add more abs in at night...need to really work on my c-section stomach!

About the foods, I highly recommend the EAS Carb Control Shakes. They have them at Walmart and Target for 4.99 for a 4 pack. I really like these and use them all the time. They are very low in carbs (2-3/shake) with 17 grams of protein in each! Oh and the Laughing Cow cheese is AWESOME! I put a wedge of the lite swiss in the middle of my burger the other night...it was amazing! I get my LC at Costco. It is much cheaper there than at HT. Oh and I could not survive this plan without reduced fat string cheese! Love it!

Keep up the great work everyone!

I too had trouble finding the Laughing Cow cheese. It wasn't with the other cheeses in the dairy section or the specialty cheeses in the deli area BECAUSE it is not refrigerated. Instead, it is kept with the pepperoni and beef jerkies (I never would have thought to look there).

Also, regarding sports bras I recently discovereda new option. I'd always purchased at places like Sports Authority and thought they were sufficient (despite the shoulder strap pressure). Recently I went to a bridal shop type of place to be professionally fitted for a strapless bra. I found out all these years since most stores don't go beyond DD. I was so impressed with the British-lines they carried that cater to us heavy-topped ladies compared to the American brands that I ended up leaving with a new bathing suit and a sports bra in addition to the bridal bra. The difference is amazing. I'd definitely recommend a specialty bra store since I wish I'd known about them sooner.

EAS AdvantEDGE *carb control* shakes have 2 net carbs. They are pretty good and you can find them at walmart or BJs. I sometimes put the chocolate ones in a blender with some ice and peanut butter- which makes them a lot better in my opinion : )

Shannon, did you find that sports bra at a store near you or did you get it online? I would HAVE to try it on first, but it looks great. I even like the pink one for breast cancer awareness. THANKS!

I am gonna start my research on running and see what I come up with. I really appreciate all your input.

Thanks for the link. I have it book marked now and will be printing it off too. I have tried the EAS chocolate, but it has 4 carbs and I wanted to see if I could find some with less carbs than that. I have only bought one four pack just last week, and I still have 2 left. I keep telling myself not to have one everyday but they are good! And I know EXACTLY what ya mean about the c-section belly....my first child was a section....and it CONSTANTLY reminds me!

Candy, I did order it online. It does look like there is a "locate a retailer" link on their website. Maybe you could find somewhere that carries them. I just followed their instructions for measuring. When I got it, it seemed at first like it was going to be too small, but it ended up being perfect! I just kept running around my house and jumping up and down and I tell you "the girls" didn't move AT ALL! It's pretty awesome. It's very durable and has held up very well (I've had it about 3 years).

That's funny on how you checked it out to see how it worked! I am DEFINITELY looking into it. I did the store locator and the closet to me is about 3 hrs away, so I may have to do it online as well. Thanks!

Candy and Denise,

I took a yoga class in June and I was so embarrased. I really struggled and had it not been for the encouragment of the teacher, I would never have gone back. I almost cried when I had to sit out some of it... It was THAT uncomfortable for me to essentially not be able to do anything. I went a second time before I started Medi and then regularly since.

I definitely started out slow....like nothing at all in my first week, except yoga on Sunday. I started to wear a pedometer after that. Studies show that people who walk 10,000 steps every day are better able to keep off their weight, and that is what I intend to do.

Once I started walking and felt good enough to get into tighter clothes, I took spin classes and strength classes. A couple weeks later, a friend invited me to her Hip Hop dance class and I loved it and we think our instructor is a total Hoot!

On September 1st, I signed up for a triathlon, so I had to amp up my swimming and outdoor biking. I feel strong-ish in my bike and swim, so I decided to challenge myself with the sport I don't really like (running), but know I "would" like if I could find successes along the way---and I have!

Working out has been so easy because I have a work-out buddy. I never had one before, at least not like I do now. We actually don't work out every day, but she definitely knows my plan for the week, we've be-friended the same instructors, we discuss things, we are losing weight together and we are running races together this winter. She is losing weight and it's a win-win. My husband does runs with me sometimes on the weekend and he always covers all parenting duties when I am at yoga for 2 hours. That is really MY time and he honors that. Overall, my workouts are done when my child is still asleep and when I know someone is waiting for me at the gym and take a break day once a week. I have everyday covered, so that if I just don't feel like exercising, I at least have something I enjoy doing in the days ahead. Something I read once is never go more than 3 days without getting your heartrate up. That way, you don't lose your momentum and healthy habits.

I would say to sign up for "something" soon. A weekly dance class (belly dancing, salsa?) where classmates are expecting you to be there....a race that makes your belly flip just thinking about (like a 5K or triathlon)...or lessons in a sport like golf, swimming, tennis. I am starting the Jeff Galloway running program in Charlotte on November 21st (meets on Sat) for $50 for several weeks and email support. You can start now to prep, but the courses are for new runners/walkers and in-shape ones as well. I would really like a professional to make sure my body is doing what it should to prevent injury, especially when I increase mileage later this year and into next year. ( have a foot issue already and want it to stay in check).

So have fun and identify something that you always wanted to do, but were too afraid to try. You will gain confidence in knowing that each time you do that activity, you will be a little "lighter" and your body will be able to move more freely. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for your input! I just started using my pedometer yesterday and it was very helpful. We are here to help each other and I do not know what I'd do without it! Thanks!!!!!!!

Its great to see how motivated everyone is. I am also trying to do weights for 30 minutes 3 x a week and jog 3 times a week. However, some days I skip, like today because I am feeling weak and shaky. I do eat all my calories for the day and am not skipping and have more than 128 oz water including a big bottle of smart water. My clinic said to try and have a spoon of salt on these days but it isnt helping me. Any suggestions would be apreciated.
Thanks

Talk to your clinic. I wasn't feeling weak, but one week I lost muscle. My clinic told me to eat a fruit/protein combo before cardio and weights. I told them that I was hesitant to do so because I ENJOY my fruit and save it for later in the day. They told me to get a second serving of fruit on workout days You need to speak up because they will likely increase your protein cals as well.

I like a chopped up apple (or grapes) with almonds mixed together (like a trail mix) that I eat on the drive to the gym. You could do a protein shake with berries too. You need energy to exercise and carbs are immediate energy! I always eat after I work out too! Yogurt with cocoa almonds or cheese and ham roll-up both tied me over perfectly for lunchtime.

Re: lunchboxes

I was admiring my friend's lunchbox today. It is FROZN brand and she thinks she got it at walmart. It can hold a 6pack and it has an expandable option vertically with a seperate compartment for an icepak and a lean cuisine type meal (in her case). In the past, I have used a recyclable grocery bag to carry my pill box, journal, food and water with me. They have some "short" versions at various grocery stores like trader joe's. I fill up my 32oz rubbermaid water bottle with flip-top 4 times a day so it's nice to have a place for it, but I think I am going to get a fun carrier for it off of etsy.com one day.

I am like you! I have lots of little containers that need a cozy spot. My lunches always need to be heated up or have liquids (salmon with veggies today, YUM)!

Wow! You Carolina ladies are on a ROLL! Thank you SO MUCH for all of your suggestions and exercise discussion - I have learned SO MUCH and I want to get up out of my chair and go run right now! (I doubt the people on this conference call would appreciate it though!)

Thanks for the suggestions on the LC cheese - I'm going to Trader Joe's tonight! I'm excited about finding more protein! That's still my biggest challenge - finding proteins I like so I'm not eating the same things over and over. My NP suggested eating Edamame as a protein - LOVE that suggestion!

I'm also DEFINITELY going to look into those sports bras. The other day during my workout, I was doing jumping jacks with one hand and holding the girls with the other! LOL Sorry guys for the TMI!

WELCOME to all the newbies and CONGRATULATIONS to the losers - Rachel, YOU MADE IT!!!! Go you, 9 pounds is awesome!

Check out the local bridal/lingerie shops. They will most likely point you to their British cup brands. If it is not in stock, they have catalogs that they will order from and when the shipment arrives in a few days, they'll let you try it on and see if it works before you actually have to pay for it. I'm like you
and feel better trying something on before buying.
Good luck!

Welcome Dreamwarrior!

Jennifer~ I almost spit my water out on the screen when I was reading about you doing jumping jacks one handed.. LOL! So funny and I have SO been there..I wear 2 bras everytime I workout no matter what I am doing..

Candy- I go to the Run for your life in the University Area in Charlotte. There is one downtown I think as well. You can even bring in an old pair of beat up shoes and they will give you $10 off your purchase!

I am super excited I am doing Zumba tonight for the first time. I really look forward to it..

I found the cocoa almonds today at Harriss Teeter (they are buy one get one free peeps!!) and they are AMAZING.. I love them.. but, only a very few of them..

Melissa~ Are you going to Zumba tonight??
