For me - today is an EXCELLENT day! After a few down days, I think that Annie helped me identify the root of my issue and I have CONQUERED THAT ONE BABY! I realize that I am becoming - I'm like a caterpillar metamorphasizing - soon I'll be one BEE-UTIFUL butterfly!!! I can't wait to spread my wings, but I also need to remember that inside that cocoon is CHANGE. Change may be uncomfortable, and it'll suck sometimes. But in the end, I GET TO FLY (or in this case I'll get to be FLY in all my new skinny clothes LOL).
So today I'm all pumped up. I got a good workout in last night which made me feel better, and now I'm seriously considering doing P90X. I know it's TOUGH, but tough is good, right? I'm also SERIOUSLY looking forward to eating a piece of fruit tonight!!! YUMM-O!

I am on Day 6 of P90X. My clinic told me to wait and not start on the first week. It is hard but I love it. I don't think this workout and Medi diet match though so be very carefull. At least three times in the past 6 training days I almost passed out. I'm talking about how your eyes wonder off, you hear Tony Horton on TV but can't see his lips moving, weird I know. The diet for this excersise includes carbs which we don't have. So if that happens, stop and take a rest. Good luck |

Congrats Nick and Cheryl
Looks like we all started at right about the same time... Congrats on your weightloss for Week 2...
I agree that it would be great if the numbers would continue to fall this fast... but am realistic enough to know they won't.. as long as they are moving down... I'm going to be happy.. I started Week 3 today and I started walking.. 30 min.. easy pace... but hey.. that's 30 minutes more than I did last week.. or the week before, etc etc etc... And I have WII Active arriving today.. whooo whoo.. Keep up the great work y'all! Denise |

I have been reading all your posts and remembering how exciting it was to start Medi. It is that happiness and motivation that gets us through that first week. You are right, I have lost a lot of weight and I have hit a bump in the road, it will pass I know, but gah it is so irritating. It helps to know that I am supported. My husband has been wonderful, he is pushing me to go into maintenance to just change my point of view on life if nothing else. I am so consumed by this stall that it is affecting my whole outlook on everything. For instance, my daughter is coming home this weekend from college with 3 friends. I haven't seen her since August 20th. Instead of being just thrilled about it on her call to let us know, I complained.... I mean really. When my kids were in high school we had kids here everyday, I loved having them around. I have become a real sour puss, and it has to stop. So thank you Jennifer for your support. I am going to make it through this and I AM NOT QUITTING. I have too many friends here to support me. With a better attitude Robyn

Me too!
The Wii Active is my most favorite form of excercise right now. The nurse at the clinic asked me yesterday what I do for excercise. When I told her I was doing this, she said, "I've heard even the easiest level is hard at first, so it must be good for you!" I do find myself talking back to Bob, though, when I'm pouring sweat and he tells me I'm not working hard enough.
LOL I've also been walking some, but will get on the Wii first if given a choice. I like that there is some cardio, some resistance, some stretching...just a little bit of a lot of things. DH mentioned the other day that he thought he would get me the Wii Plus, just to see if I liked it. Does anyone already have that? What does it add to the Wii experience? Today is my first day on only 1/2 of the AS...so far, so good. Hope everyone's having a gerat day! |

I know I am pushing Jillian Michaels a lot lately but I love the 30 minute shred she has. If you have FIOS, you can try it for free right now on VOD. It maybe on other video on demand channels through other cable companies as well. Just search on Jillian Michaels. Anyway, I really like the work out, I know others on here have had problems because of the crunches, they have tailbone problems, so if you have that, then don't do this work out. Also Jo loves the Buns of Steel dvd's. Jo knows her stuff, so take a look at those work outs as well. I am just afraid if you have not been doing a lot of exercise the P90x is going to be too intense right now, probably something you can work into. And you may become frustrated as well. Good luck on your work outs. Just make sure you do something everyday, even walking, that is what I did until I had lost about 60 pounds. No equipment, tv or anything just your tennis shoes! |

Like Robyn, I am a big fan of Jillian's 30 day Shred DVD! It is awesome and only take 35 minutes. I was SO sore after the first time I did it but it gets better and I feel a lot stronger! I do that and run (did couch to 5K) Good luck! Kate |

Robyn- I am so sorry you're feeling frustrated my friend!! You have done an amazing job thus far. I really really really think this is thyroid/hormone related and there's just nothing that the diet will do to fix that until you get those issues under control. Hang in there. You are awesome and inspiring.
Sarah- We have just the Wii Fit, not the Wii Fit plus and I love it. We got it for Christmas and it's still one of my favorite types of exercise because it's so easy and convenient for me to do while my kids are napping or the weather's bad. Jennifer- 7 pounds is awesome and keep in mind, you're building muscle because of your exercise. I bet you lost more in fat than you realize! Today my younger daughter turns 1 and I looked back at my records and realized that on Oct 14th last year I was 100 pounds heaver than I am now!! Gratned, I was delivering a baby but she sure wasn't a 100 pound baby! Even though my loss has slowed down lately and I've been kind of discouraged, 100 pounds in a year is pretty amazing to me. That's like carrying 2 of each of my 2 kids around all day. Wow.

Hello all....just time for a short note before going back to work after a lunch break.
A small word of advice....EXERCISE....BUT AT A LEVEL THAT IS COMMENSURATE WITH YOUR CURRENT FITNESS LEVEL~~~~~ The Jillian Michaels Shred and the Px whatever are both VERY intense and in my own opinion and that of my doc and also my personal trainer....definitely NOT meant for severly overweight people or out of shape people. You can seriously injure yourself. I am in pretty doggone great shape right now and I will NOT do the Jillian Michaels ever again. It is just not for me. My old Buns of Steel is a great workout along with walking and the treadmill, swimming and the bike. Be careful in trying the latest trends, they are not always the best. Be careful!!! Now....back to work! And Robyn....after work I will send you a PM.....not enough time right now. Jo |

I think you are right, after doing a lot of reading on P90X today, it may be too intense for me. I think I can do ANYTHING and when I hear about overweight people, I think "SURELY they don't mean me - I've got big bones!!!" But I am overweight and it probably would be really hard. I'm going to keep looking around to see if there is something easier I can do. Robyn, I will check our listings to see if there is a Jillian Michaels workout on demand. If so, I'll definitely do it! Lord knows, I've gotta do SOMETHING! I am getting into running, but I'm already bored (I'm so flighty - I need constant stimulation) plus the weather is nasty. I need to have something I can do at home so that there is no excuse. I've got the Tae Bo Bootcamp and can keep kicking with Billy for now!Last edited by QueenCityDiva; 10-14-2009 at 02:37 PM.. |

And oh yeah, I'm all enthusiastic about it NOW, but believe you me - I can promise you that in about 2 weeks I'll be ready to throw in the towel! I can see myself saying "screw this, I'm eating CAKE!" so I will need ALL OF YOU to reel me back in, boost me up, and remind me that it's all worth it! I'm putting you in my back pocket on spiritual speed dial - I'm SURE I'll need a kick in the pants and a shoulder to cry on throughout this process! |

Wow! Alot of posts today.
First off let me say to all the newbies! You have picked a great program, the one that works. Hang in there, because week 1 is really tough and you might feel extremely weak and even a little sick like, but it is so worth it to get rid of the cravings and clean out your system.Congratulations to all the great losses! It is so inspirational to see that first months weightloss. That was what turned me into a believer and realize that this time I would make it all the way. ![]() ![]() ![]() Robyn and Jessica, you are loved! Thanks for sharing your struggle with us. I feel for both of you. You are working so hard and I am so glad that neither of you are going to give up. You both have come so far. Please keep us informed on your progress and Robyn, on your thyroid results. I want to flick my magic wand and make your stalls go away. I know if anyone can beat this it will be the two of you and you will. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.I have a few other suggestions on exercises that I really enjoy that are easy on the joints... spinning (aka studio spinning and is a great calorie burn), Dance Dance Revolution (or DDR for PS2 or XBOX and boy is this fun and addictive!), and deep water aerobics (you get a workout and a massage at the same time).

One of the good thing about P90X is the whole muscle confusion strategy that gives us faster reults. Why don't you check out Power 60 and Power 90 instead. It's based on the same principal but not as intense. Andy |

Robyn - You continue to be a great inspiration to so many - the new photo of you is terrific and I am glad that your husband had you post it - soo much difference....
- three weeks of a stall is difficult to take when you are working so hard but think about what you have done - losing 80 lbs is really a fantastic accomplishment. One thing that my doctor told me is that once a week I should eat more calories just to mess with my metabolism - I stick to proteins only - but I think it has helped. Maintenance also increase carbs - you might ask about this... stay with it - you will get what you want...

Yeah right! Me? You don't know how many people have asked for autographs before they begin costing something! I'm just a normal everyday joe that put his mind to getting healthy and found the right combination for me (TOPS for support, Medi diet and support, determination to keep me on the straight and narrow, and a local gym that has everything I need for my exercise routine along with the many new friends and support I have found here). Do you notice how important the word support is too me? It just blows my mind that I have lost this much so quickly. I went into this year with a motto of 90 pounds in 09. I am now at 220 lost, 23 to goal! It's looking good that I may make it before the year is out! Freshroses...were you the young lady I spoke with at the clinic? If so, nice to meet ya and welcome to the BEST support group on the net! ![]() |
