Happy September all! I'm not very good at posting more of a lurker but ya'll provide me TONS of support! If any of you remember, me and my mom (Martha) were doing this together. She has since quit because she was having a hard time because she didn't qualify for the Rx due to high blood pressure. The doctor originally told her they would give her the Slim pills at no charge but then said she misunderstood because those arent free. Long story short, she went to another Medi clinic in our town and they said the Slim pills are free during weightloss phase but after in maintenance are not. So my question is anyone else not able to take the Rx and do you get the slim pills and do you pay or are they supplied for you until maintenance?

On a brighter note...I am doing fabulous! I am down 20 lbs!! I slowed down in my loss for a few weeks and then took off again like a rocket the last two weeks. My counselor suggested changing my goal when I slowed down beacuse she thought it was a stretch. Then, she lowered it after the last two weeks because I was able to go 8.5 pounds in 2 weeks. Did anyone else get close to goal and then decide to keep going and were you able to get to your final decision?

Hi Everyone I posted this last night in the August thread but thought I would post it again since that thread was down to the monthly totaling

First off, thank you so much for all those that contribute so much of their time and valuable information to this forum. It really helped in my decision making to join. Much appreciated for sure.

I am on Day 1 and feeling good. I had done a very similar program about 8 yrs ago and did very very well, but there was not as much counseling, and no maintence program, so I just slipped right back into the old ways of course. That was one of the big reasons I joined Medi was because of the after support. I know this works, and just need the added talking to when the time comes I guess. I wasn't going to post because I feel the shame in gaining back all that I lost plus some of course, but if I am going to do this right I feel I need to face reality and not hide from it anymore.

Thanks again and I look forward to checking in and seeing everyones great progress
Day 2 Headachey but doing ok. Can't wait until it is gone. Once again, thanks for the inspiration to all here who have walked the walk.

Did you go cold turkey on caffeine? I had headaches for 2 days also. Nothing would relieve the pain. The third day I drank some coffee, about half a cup, and it went completely away and right away. It was a caffeine withdrawal headache. I spoke with my clinic and we decided that I would not give up caffeine, but would limit myself to 2 caffeinated drinks per day whether that be coffee or iced tea or both.

Hello everyone... I have been mostly lurking, but I'm so excited after my first weigh in yesterday, that I had to post...

Week one results: down 8.2 pounds (6 pounds of fat)

Yahoo! I am so excited, but a little scared about now adding in the veggies and fruit. Should a expect a dramatic slow down in weighloss for week's two and beyond? I'm about to eat my first salad! Never thought I would be so excited to see lettuce. ha!

Hi Jane

I did go cold turkey on the caffeine. I switched from regular tea to decaf and I am sure that is what the issue is. I am bizarre in that I have a very hard time drinking water, it hits my stomach like pure acid, so I usually drink very weak unsweetened tea to get in my liquids. My clinic Dr said that was perfectly OK, so I will go with that. I took a Tylenol and it seems to be getting a little better. Thanks for the heads up on your experience.

Adorable avatar Sunshyn! Welcome to the new folks and welcome back to others!

This week, I lost 2.1 pounds overall and 5.2 pounds of fat! I am buying myself a present for every fat percentage I lose, but I haven't yet bought my new running shoes when I hit 42.8% (last Tuesday). Now I am at 41% and I need to get myself 2 gifts!

Hit a milestone today....I love my new avatar!

Also, I tried kayaking for the very first time this weekend and it was amazing. Even though my husband has lost 24 pounds, I was faster than him on the kayak! YAY ME!

My parents are in town and food has not been an issue since I prepared all our dinners (made frozen ones), wrote out the restaurants that were "safe" and cleaned out the cabinets (leaving a section for their rice, pasta, etc until they leave). I thought it would be SO hard, but it has been SO easy. I even went to a wedding and an all day post-wedding picnic at a lake and did fine. I just got back from lunch at a Burger Joint! For the newbies....YOU CAN DO THIS!

I am really thrilled and so thankful for the support. I think my hip-hop dance class was a big fatburner for me this week. So fun! Good luck this month, everyone. Stick to the program, and you won't need any luck at all though

Don't be scared about the veggies/fruits the key to this plan is to learn what works for you so just start adding them in individually- that way you can tell by your ketosis level and hunger level what veggies/friuts are ok for you. I don't know if I would say there is a dramatic slow down after the first week but you will probably see a smaller loss these next weeks. You should also start to develop a somewhat consistant pattern/range. This is the pattern I had- just an example really b/c everyone's different and the total amount of weight you have to lose has a lot to do with it:

Week 1: Down 11 lbs (only 5 of mine was fat)
Weeks 2-17: Average of 4-4.5 lbs a week
Weeks 17-23: Average of about 3lbs a week.

Again- Congrat's on a great first week!!!! 6lbs of fat is AMAZING!

Hi all!! I haven't posted in a while, but today was a big day for me, so I wanted to get on here and share my success!! Today I had my weigh in and I hit my goal weight! I was so excited! I have lost exactly 60 pounds in exactly 5 months! What was really awesome is that they took my pictures and had me sign a waiver and asked for a testimonial to do an ad for my clinic, which was super fun! While I did hit my goal weight, I have decided to stay on plan a while longer and just focus on dropping my body fat % -- my BMI and body fat % are now in a normal range, but I just know personally that I can do better and it can really come down. So if the number on the scale doesn't move much, that's ok, i'm not really setting a new "number" goal, just going to focus on getting the fat % down a bit and then i'll be off in to maintenance! I cannot believe i've lost 60 pounds in 5 months, and how EASY it has been! I am off to go write my testimonial, I just want everyone to know about mwl! Thanks for your support -- even though i don't post often, I read most things and stay in touch with your successes -- its remarkable what everyone is accomplishing with this community as support! Lastly, the highlight of my day after the weigh in -- I got to have lunch with two FABULOUS ladies who are on this board (and shall remain nameless unless they choose to chime in!!) and be inspired by them! They are KILLING IT on the plan, and have really blown me away with their success and dedication! Way to go girls, we are on our way to all of our goals, individually and collectively!

My first weigh in

I went for my first weight in today and only loss 4.5. I feel a bit disappointed. Last week was so hard. It looks like I put to much creamer in my coffee. I am going to try to limit my coffee to one cup a day and only one TSBL of creamer. Any suggestions?

babyboyst- to maintenance and congratulations.

Justin- You had a great August. Congrats!

Melissa- I love your enthusiasm. Congrats on your loss and your kayaking victory. You are doing great.

Bre, daboyzmom, beachlovn- Great first week and to the forum. Beachlovn, I have found that my big weeks were followed by smaller weeks and a slight water gain. Someone posted that the oscilation is because when the fat cells empty they fill up with water. I don't know if this is true, but it make sense to me.

Heather- Just like McBoo and Jo said, you know what you have to do. Think really hard about why you did this the first time and read through the posts for inspiration. You might want to check out Jerry's blog at Watch Me Lose 300 Pounds. His journey has been very inspirational. Also, go through the motions even though you might not be feeling it. Journal, drink water and exercise. I started maintenance about 2 months ago and I can tell you it is so worth it.

Loseinit27- Welcome back. I am sorry that your mother had to drop out, but I am happy that you have done so well. Several posters have lowered their goal once they hit it.

Don't be dissappointed. A loss is a loss. If you had not started this program would you have lost 4.5 pounds? I suggest that you journal everything you put in your mouth, including water intake and exercise. Show your journal to your clinic doctor. You may be eating hidden carbs and sodium. Have you been in ketosis?

If you post what you are eating on a daily basis here, we can also try and guide you.

Thanks Susie,

I appreaciate your support. I have being in Ketosis since day 4th. I am going to reduce the coffee creamer and will make an effort to post foods here. I am not sure that i will have the time, but i will try.

Thanks again:

Thank you all for the welcome notes, well wishes and advice!

CGT - I LOVE coffee with cream, and drink it morning and night... however after the first couple days of week 1, I told myself that I didn't want to waste calories on the cream so I started drinking it black. I only add a little cream 1x or 2x a week as a little treat.

Question for the group - does anyone use the Medi Cleanse supplement? Opinions? It wasn't included in my starter pack, and I am debating about whether I should purchasing it. Are other fiber/cleasing supplements allowed? Any recomendations?

CGT - I LOVE coffee with cream, and drink it morning and night... however after the first couple days of week 1, I told myself that I didn't want to waste calories on the cream so I started drinking it black. I only add a little cream 1x or 2x a week as a little treat.

Question for the group - does anyone use the Medi Cleanse supplement? Opinions? It wasn't included in my starter pack, and I am debating about whether I should purchasing it. Are other fiber/cleasing supplements allowed? Any recomendations?

Thanks!
I used it in the beginning, but now I just use fibercon caplets. They seem to work better and are much cheaper. I take 4 pills with my dinner time supplements.
