Susie - Sorry for your loss. A dog is like a family member. I was distraught when my 19 year old dog I grew up with passed. It comforts me to think though that my dog had a good life. Perhaps a new puppy will help the kids deal with the loss.

Susie,

Please wait if you decide to get a new dog. Having been through this myself you really need to take the time to mourn the passing of the FAMILY MEMBER that has passed. It is a very important part of the grieving process. You will never be able to replace the FAMILY MEMBER you lost. They gave us unconditional love and that deserves our loyality.

Should you decide to get another dog please consider a shelter animal that can give you years of unconditional love and you can save a life at the same time.

Thank you all for your support and love. Rudy was a pound puppy and I loved him so much. I just can't stop crying right now. I hope this goes away, it hurts so much, but I know we gave him 10 extra years that he otherwise would not have had by adopting him. The guy who put him in the shelter drove an extra long distance to put him in a pound that waited longer before putting dogs down in hopes that he would get adopted. He named him Rudy after the older gentleman in the first Survivor series in hopes that he would survive. I called him to let him know that we had adopted Rudy and he was so relieved. He was the best dog. I just never knew how much I loved him. You all have been so wonderful as have been my friends and sons. I just want him back so bad. I know in time this will pass. I am just having a bad moment, but am remembering all the good times too. The good new is that I have hardly eaten a thing today.

Hugs,
Susie

I'm new to the board but also want to express my sympathy for the loss of your dear pet Susie. I echo what McBoo suggests as far as waiting awhile and if/when the time comes that you feel you want another dog to consider a shelter dog. I've adopted twice and they are so wonderful. It's like they truly know you saved them and are so full of love. Take care and know time will help and you'll always have wonderful memories to treasure forever.

Susie, I am so sorry for your loss! Rudy was a fortunate boy to have found you & your family and even more to have had a peaceful death at home with his human "mom" around.
For a time, your home will feel very quiet and lonely without your canine shadow. Then later, when you are ready, I'm sure that Rudy would want for you to share your love with another fortunate pet.
Only time will heal the sad, empty feeling that accompanies your loss. But having loved and lost many pets myself, it helps me when I think that they are not truly gone, but rather just gone on ahead - because there sure couldn't be a heaven for me without the animals there too!
My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Jane

Susie. As I am new here too, I'd like to let you how sorry I am to hear of your loss of your dog. I have 2 dogs myself and know when that day does come it will be hard too. Just remember the joys it gave you and love you gave it. And maybe someday later on you can have another one to do the same with! The void will be there a while, so I too would wait to get another one. Again, sorry for your loss.

Susie,

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I can tell you loved him very much and he was very lucky to have such a loving owner ("mother"). I understand that it is like losing a family member, I had my dog for 16 years (the majority of my life) and she passed away 2 years ago. Mcboo is right, take the time to mourn your loss- it is one of the hardest things to go through! My thoughts are with you and your family.

You have been such an inspiration to all of us on this board- and some exciting news- with the help of your support (and recipes!) I lost 4.6 pounds my second week. I am just under losing 15 lbs in 2 weeks and am very excited!

Thanks again for all of the support- I hope that you find comfort knowing how much the things that you do have helped others.

Oh Susie, I never made it in here yesterday, and I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Rudy. I know how hard it is to lose a family member like Rudy who has given you such unconditional love for all his life. And I agree with McBoo and his always wise advice.

There is a site where several friends have referred to, after losing their beloved pets. You may find some comfort there as well.

This is the main page:
Pet Loss Grief Support, Rainbow Bridge, Monday Candle Ceremony,

And here is the welcome page:
Petloss.com - WELCOME AT RAINBOW BRIDGE

Cry as you need to, my sweet friend, and know that Rudy is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you.

Hi susie, I too am sorry for your loss, I am a huge animal person, I have 12 dogs and 6 horses. I have 2 senior pets that I have to check daily, it is heartbreaking, but I know I have given the best home possible like you did. Thanks for all the great advice and recipes you give, you are remarkable.

Susie...so sorry about your pup. I had to euthanise my dog, my best buddy, 2 years ago and I still think about him every day. It's awful that you had to find him like that, with no warning that he was even sick from the way it sounds, but I am sure he lived a pretty good life if he had so much love surrounding him.

I'm sorry to ask this question as I'm sure it has probably been answered before but exactly what is "Impedance" and why is it important? Should the numbers go up or down? I'll ask my doctor next week but was just curious in the meantime...

The sweet moment....I lost 3.9 pounds today! It was a great feeling and I am really proud of my progress. My NP told me that she sees such a dramatic difference in my appearance. My team asked me to eat a little fruit before my workouts and I told them that the reason I am hesitant to do so is that I look forward to my fruit in the afternoon or evening as a "treat". I was told to eat a second serving before my workouts! Of course I am very happy to hear this and I feel that my team is really watching me closely. It is an awesome feeling. And so far, they have been spot on about tweaking things to suit me in order to be successful....no need to doubt them at this point! As I have told them, they know my body better than I do. It is nice to give that control to someone else, frankly.

The bittersweet....The front desk staff emailed me my 30 pound loss pic last week, but not the original picture. I just checked my email and there it was . I can't believe that I had let myself go like that. I don't look like the way I "felt" inside (well, at least, most days). I think that person is really just a shell of the real me. It brings tears to my eyes to really have to confront my past in that way. I guess what I am trying to say is I never really felt like I was that big. Then again, I never took pics of myself, so how would I have truly known? I can't believe how much my life has changed in 7 weeks. I am not mad at myself for getting to that point. I am more grateful that I have the tools I need to dig myself out of the hole that I created. I am changing everything about my life and every day I think about maintainence....things like "If I were in maintanence, what food choices would I be making", "If I were in maintanence, will I try to skip out of this dance class?", etc... I don't ever want to get to such a desperate point again.

Thanks for listening and for letting me ramble. I was sad when I started this email, but I am actually smiling right now. I have come a long way to taking care of myself and I feel so wonderful!
Melissa
Congrats on the great WL for the week! I know you are working SO hard and it is paying off! I am so happy you are feeling so good. I, like you, did not think I was as overweight as I actually was. Unreal to look at those pictures now! Congrats again! I am very proud of you!!!

Great question! For me it was after about the first month. I lost around 25 pounds in the first month, more than I'd ever lost in anyother weight loss program in just one month. And I realized that the WOE was very liveable once I started experimenting with legal foods.

BTW Thank you all so much for your condolences. I will let time work its magic and heal. I am trying to focus on all the good, but I am very sad right now. I appreciate the distractions. It was a shock, we didn't know he was sick, let alone cancer. My husband in on travel and when I told him last night he was floored. But all in all it was a blessing that he didn't suffer. I will go on the support sites. Thank you all.

Susie- first of all for your loss. I'm a proud "parent" of 2 indoor cats and 2 outdoor cats. I had a fifth but he passed away earlier this year. My out door kids were tossed out of a house and ended up in my backyard. I spotted the first one-called him Dodge cuz he loved living under my dodge ram that we kept parked in the back due to high gas prices! He was the 1 that passed away I actually got to the point I could pet him and he purred! One is still in the backyard and I really can't get closer than 3 feet before he tries to run
The second is a young cat/kitten who got picked on by the others who wander in and out of the backyard. He started sleeping on the front porch when I wasn't home, then he finally came to me about 2 months ago . I'm going to make him an indoor/outdoor cat as soon as I can afford to take him to the vet for blood tests, shots, and neutering- sorry guys!
It is a loss of a family member and dealing with the grief is a must before getting another "child"
Just to let you know that I'm for you and your family.

Now for my update.

Had my weigh-in today and lost 6lbs!!!! 4.5lbs was fat!!!

6lbs to goal I have lost 90lbs in 6 1/2 months!!!

This WOE has become a WOL (way of life )

My hubby is over the moon at how well I've done BUT is very pleased because of the $$$ spent. He thinks it's been well worth it because I'm a much happier person It shows on my face too cuz I a lot more

I actually had a patient tell me that I'm "tiny"

My next appointment is on the 25th-I'm looking to be at goal and have my final bloodwork and pictures done. Then I'll start maintenance

They've already asked me if I'll sign a release so they can use my pics for advertising I consider that a huge compliment!

For those of you who are just starting, please please please don't doubt that this works and, most of all, DO NOT DOUBT YOURSELVES!!!!!! If you follow the plan and do what is asked of you, you WILL lose the weight and get your lives back!

I STILL see myself in mirror or a large window and wonder where the rest of me went I haven't seen myself this small in years and it feels SO good!

I do read all the posts and all the advice given is so good that I have nothing to add

PS Welcome back Robyn....missed ya!

Hey there Cindy! Congrats to you! You are TRUE inspiration for me as I begin tomorrow with Medi. Which clinic in Charlotte do you go to? I will be going to the Ballantyne location. I'd love to see some before and after pics of your journey of success if you have any to share.

Take it a week at a time. I made a small goal - to get from 191.5 into a size 10 ( I was wearing a 12) then when I started to approach it I made another goal (goal weight 150) and now I am approaching that goal as well so I think I want to set another goal weight of 147-150 and/or a size 6 (I'm in an 8 now) so I have some wiggle room.

Hi Carolina-I go to the same clinic! You'll love the people there They are sooooo supportive and helpful. The only thing that they can't seem to help me with is my starting pics They have my email addy and I pleaded again today to have them email them to me...methinks they don't know how to use the email system or the fax machine

and please ask us all if you have any questions

Thank you SO much for all the support and advice you and the other "gurus" have given us. without y'all, there would be a lot less success in here

You should consider yourself one of the gurus. I only lost 62 pounds in the same period you lost 90! Wow!
