I have a whole lot of pages to read and catch up on because of going back to work this past week. Up at 4am to head to the treadmill for an hour before getting ready for work, walking on my lunch, and again when I get home! I am right there with Susie about being passionate about this program. And my clinic also is putting me up on the front bulletin board as their "biggest loser". And what a day when I went back to work.
I am going to show you what I wrote to my brother about my first day back after a 6 month "displacement" (Lay off). Can you feel the love? ![]() Wow! What a day. Four people I have worked with for 10 years did not recognize me at all! The rest were pretty much speechless. Quite the reception, and I have to say I loved it! Made me feel very good. My ivory outfit was perfect, and my friend Garrett wore Armani, and we were quite the fashionplates. Management was dressed very professionally...usually they are a bit more casual (business casual) but the rest of the new people...oh my word. I would have been embarrassed if I was one of those very large women showing up in mini skirts, flip flops, really sheer blouses, tank tops, halter tops....all of which are taboo for Amex to begin with...obviously they were not thinking at all. Two of the guys besides Garrett were dressed very well..the rest in jeans or shorts and t-shirts. My word. Not a terribly good first impression. There were account executives there today as well. They did have a LOT of food that is all no no for me, so I am very glad I had my little lunch hamper with me...as it was Krispy Kreme donuts. Dunkin Donuts, pastries from Costco, pizza for lunch. Again...no temptation to me at all...the pizza - did not even look good to me! They let the Australia group (my group) go home early today (yes we are paid for the full day). I also got my full seniority back, and I will be getting a new catalog for my 10 year gift and my anniversary will be celebrated - late but still celebrated. They are bridging a lot of seniority. If people had 5 years when they left, they still have 5 years. Nothing added for the years inbetween but they will have their 5 years. So I now have 10 years and 4months with the company..woohoo...that is something I really wanted and asked for! As you can probably tell, I am doing the happy dance for real! It is soooo good to be back! Most of these people have not seen me since January 26th when I left the office. Shock and awe were the words of the day! I loved it! From 262 in December to 154 in weight on 14Sept , from size 20 to size 8/medium. THIS PROGRAM WORKS!!! I have written my testimonial for my clinic so we shall see where that goes. Now, I just have to get those pictures up here! I shall work on that! Now....off to walk in the sunshine! Jo |

That's great news Jo - I am glad you have resolution with the job situation. And look at those pounds go. I can't commit to the getting up at 4:00 thing - really wish I could but just haven't ben able to do it with my sleep restlessness.
There is no question why you and Susie are my program 'rock' - I am really grateful that you - and all of the maintainers - keep posting... shall be joining you soon... |

Jo-Your story made me cry...because you've gone from one of the lowest points...loss of job AND being overweight...and making the absolute best out of this situation! You look great, you're healthy AND you are back at your job! What a great success story! Congrats! El

Susie,
That is fantastic about the possibility of being a spokesperson. You have done soo well and really would be perfect. Jo, Congratulations on getting back with Amex and showing them all how to dress for success. That list of food they supplied wouldn't interest me either. Yuck. McBoo |

Thanks, McBoo. I have always believed in dressing professionally, even business casual can be professional. And leading by example appears to be working. The women are beginning to dress better, and Garrett is leading by example for the guys. I could see the differences as the week went along!
~El~I began the program last December, just before Christmas and was displaced on January 26th, last day being March 13th, but we were not working in the office for those last weeks. I chose to use the time productively and focus on the program and myself for the first time in a very long time. The picture you see in my profile is from 2005, and I weighed right around 215 in that picture. I have new pictures -the before is quite ghastly- as I really did not want to have my picture taken at all - the clinic did not take one when I began - it was Christmas time and pretty crazy around there then...so the one on Christmas Eve will do. I will work on getting those up there. I have known since about April that a return to my company was a strong possibility, and I had faith in my management team. The displacement order came from NYC Corporate headquarters based on their assessment of the economic situation in January. Many of us were top performers, at the top of our game. I had my 48 hours of "poor me" and then it was over. It was time to get on with my life. Needless to say, I am thrilled to be back and loving the feeling of looking and feeling soooooo good. Now, though, I do have to use some of that first check money to get some clothes that fit. I have 4 shirts, one blazer, and 3 pairs of pants. ~Susie~Woohoo!!!! You will make an amazing spokesperson for the program! You go girl! Jo |

Jo- I think you look fantastic in your profile pic! At first, I thought you were at your goal weight! Congrats on reaching that big milestone.
Susie- I hope you become a spokesperson! We can say we knew you when, lol! I've been out of town and swamped upon my return back, but I did lose 1.1 pounds this week. I had an awesome and LONG talk with my nurse practitioner. She can't believe how different I look. I told her about my emotional reaction to my baseline pic. I don't even know who that girl was. I am so happy right now. I ran this morning, took my son to the park, then took him for a swim afterwards. We were at the gym for 3 hours! My life is completely changing and according to my food diary, today is day 61. Even at THIS point, I look in the mirror and am shocked at my appearance . To answer an earlier post, this is the FIRST week that I am absolutely CONFIDENT that I will reach my goal. Up until this point, I've been pretty nervous and unsure if this was too good to be true and long lasting. I was really unsure of how I would do with having out of town visitors for 3 weeks..... Now that I have gotten through that time, I am super confident. It helps to see so much success in here as well! I am committed to this WOE!Best wishes for a great week to all of you! My next weigh in is in 3 days, so you'll be hearing from me sooner than later. PS. When I came home to tell my husband about my loss, he proclaimed that I have lost the entire body weight of our son!!! Oh, and I am a 1/3 of the way to my goal! WOO HOO! I believe that a huge factor in weight loss is the confidence one gains when seeing their hard work pay off....and boy am I confident now!

Well, my first weigh in was Friday, but I have been very busy and have not had time to post my loss until now. I lost 6.8 lbs my first week! And of that loss, 4 lbs was fat and the rest was water. They told me this was a great loss for the first weigh in. I can now have vegetables and a fruit a day. I am so excited to be able to eat veggies! I go back again this Friday for my second weigh-in , so I shall see how it goes! So far so good!

Hi everyone! I had 4 pages of posts to read as I have been swamped with work and personal things too! This weekend was my daughter's 2nd birthday and we had a wonderful weekend celebrating.
Congrats to all the losers! I am so happy for all of you and hope you love this program as much as I do!!!!! It works for sure!!!! Susie, I so hope you become a spokesperson! You would be perfect! Jo, congrats on getting back to work. I am sure you are happy to be back and wow...what a feeling to show back up looking like a new person! Wonderful! Justin, your pics are great! Congrats! I weighed in on Friday and lost 4.2. Down 55 since June....so exciting! I put a picture up of myself in my profile...overwhelming that I was that size (and did not realize it) but awesome to see the change in almost 4 months. Keep up the good work everyone!!! Does anyone else have this "problem"? I've lost 35 lbs to date and I can absolutely see it in pics BUT when I look in the mirror...I don't see it?? I also didn't see the fat either but...it seems like I should feel thinner...and don't. Am I nuts or are there a few others of you who have the same feeling?? El

Susie-I have told her and others about this site BUT she doesn't seem to WANT to lose the weight
A little strange considering that she was the first to join MWL.The before and after pics will be coming BUT my clinic still hasn't emailed them to me... They made a photocopy of the befores for me BUT black and white just doesn't seem to do them justice ![]() I would never think that you would go up to anybody and suggest they join MWL without being asked first I can just imagine the black eye ![]() I think the best compliment I got was on Saturday when I worked over at the hospital on my old unit. I ran into the nurse educator and she looked at me,looked away , then looked at me again and said that she didn't even recognize me Another former coworker said she was proud of me to show them where that weight needs to come off. Too funny ![]() Ah well, my weigh-in is coming on Friday-so gym-here I come ![]() Have a great week all and to the new people. Can't tell you enough how great this place is-great advice and support!!!Cindy |

Go by sizes, if that helps. I was filling up a 24W or a 2x when I started and today I bought jeans in size 16 or 14 and tops in size L!! Those milestones really make it real. To go into a store, pick something up off the rack, and have it be TOO BIG. Oh my.

Jo and Susie - that is such awesome news about being Medi-girls. I am so proud of both of you. You have helped me so much, now you will be able to help the world!!!!
Kate and Macauley - very nice job!!! Keep up the good work. The size issue is interesting. I too see pictures of myself and think wow I am not looking that much bigger than everyone else, but then I will catch a glimplse of myself in a mirror or window and it makes me cringe. However the weight is not coming off as fast right now but my clothing size is going down fast. I guess we just go through readjustment phases when a lot of weight is lost. All those fat cells need to shrink and be replaced with muscle mass, it is a long process but we will get there - all of us because we have committed to it. Have a great week everyone!

Hey Everyone!
I have been really busy lately with work and life in general so I haven't been on or posted in a few weeks. I missed you guys! Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to all the losers! SUSIE- I was so sorry to read about Rudy. The corporate office contacted me about the casting for the commercial as well but I wasn't able to make it last week. Which is really too bad since I would have LOVED to meet you! I can't think of anyone better for the role then you! ROBYN- I started noticing some additional shedding of hair recently as well. The Dr. at my clinic started me on a Zinc/Biotin supplement and stressed the importance of taking the Omega 3 supplement (I hadn't kept up with that one). That was about 4 wks ago now and it did the trick. Obviously you want to listen to your own PCP but I thought I would share in case that helps at all. Michelle I hope your son is feeling better. I've always thought of the flu as no big deal but it really is scary these days, especially for kids. They think my son has a mild form of asthma which wouldn't bode well if he got the flu so I have moments of irrational fear from time to time when reading the news and I know you must be stressed yourself. I'm sending you and your family wishes for a full and quick recovery. JO- I am so happy for you. It must seem like your life is making a complete turn around! You deserve it for all you hard work and committment. ![]() ![]() HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEEK!

Also, I know some people had reported problems with hair loss. I am experiencing broken nails on a daily basis. I keep my nails very short and natural, but they are breaking and splitting below the quick. I don't want to resort to artificial nails, but it is actually painful where my baby fresh skin has been exposed from all of this breakage. Does anyone here have any experience with this or any advice I can use before my next visit to the clinic on Thursday? I don't chew my nails, but they look as if that's all I have to eat! |

Mrs. P, I am going to ask my clinic about the biotin and omega-3 when I go in. It really irritates me when I find out better solutions on here and not the clinic. But like I have mentioned before the clinic here in landolakes is really not that great. Enough said on that. |
