Help Needed With Stir Fry Cafe' Menu

Hello all,

My son has asked me out to lunch tomorrow. All his life he has lived with Mom always being on a diet which I'm sure is as sickening for him as it's been for me. lol I hate to say no to him, but I am on my second week of doing this program on my own at home and I've lost 12 lbs. so far. I don't want to mess this up. He wants to go to the Stir Fry Cafe'. Here is a link to the menu: http://www.stirfrycafe.com/media/dinnermenu.pdf Can anyone see any small thing on there that I can have that won't mess up my plan? I'd rather not just sit there and stare at him while he eats, but I will if I have to. lol What is Miso soup? Is that something I could have? I've never been to this restaurant and I've never had Japanese food, so I have no idea what I can have. Any help at all would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Blessings,
Lisa

Lisa,
First congratulations on your 12 pounds lost while doing it on your own.

After looking at the menu I have 2 suggestions.

Classic House Salad hold the pineapple and take your own dressing with you to the restaurant.

or

Yellow Fin Tuna on Bibb Lettuce get the Ponzu on the side and use it sparingly as it has a lot of sodium.

Of course no rice or bread.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the congrats McBoo and for helping me again. I wrote down your suggestions and will take them with me. I really didn't want to pass up an outing with my son, but I would have if I'd had to.

Lisa

Lisa,

Just a tip... make your posts on the main monthly thread, which happens to be Amazing August with Medi Weight Loss this month. This is our general discussion thread. You will get more responses.

Sometimes when I go out to lunch with my friends, I bring my own lunch. That way I know I am in control. It's actually not that difficult to eat a "bag" lunch in a restaurant. Some places will even heat up your meat if you bring- say- a piece of left over chicken. I was at a pizza place and all my friends ordered pizza. The smell didn't even bother me. One word of advice though- if you do this, make sure you bring something you are excited about eating- not just plain old lunch meat It will make it easier to eat what you've brought. You can do this... you have to live your life, and just because you are on a special diet, doesn't mean you can't enjoy going to a restaurant.

Sorry Susie! I was confused on when to start a new thread and when to post in the August one. I saw you say someone with a travel question was fine that they started a new thread, so I thought a eating out question would go here, too. I had asked another question in the August thread and got no responses, so I thought I may have posted that one in the wrong place. Sorry. I'll post in the August thread from now on.

Blessings,
Lisa

Thanks for the suggestions Tracy. I really, really did not plan on doing, what I consider going off plan, by going out to eat already in the second week. It was just not something I was willing to deal with this early on, but how many times do 24 year old young men ask their mother's to spend the day with them? LOL I have to leave soon and have not planned to bring my own lunch with me. I think I am going to have the Yellowfin tuna that McBoo suggested. Now my only other problem is I won't know how many calories/carbs this meal is today. I'm thinking of eating only this for the entire day so my losses keep dropping. I dropped another 2 lbs this morning! WOOHOO! So I don't want to mess that up. Thanks again for all the helpful responses.

Blessings,
Lisa

Ask for a doggie bag when the lunch comes, cut it in half and have the rest for dinner. Don't skip meals that will slow down process too. Go to livingstrong.com and sign up for the daily plate part, all free. If you write in yellow fin tuna it will give you the calories and protein %. Good luck, it really is quite easy to follow because we are told which foods are good for us and what to stay away from.

Excellent advice Hudiman! You will probably see other things on the menu that will work for you too! Don't skip meals you will get too hungry and starting grazing the kitchen and that is bad!!!!!

No worries. I didn't mean to sound like the police, just trying to give an honest tip. Typically you may want to start a new thread when it is a general topic that people will refer back to over and over. Only problem is that unless it is "sticky"ed it will get buried and you have to bump it occasionally. And we can't sticky everything or we lose the benefit.

I hope I didn't put you off. I love your positive attitude and it is great to get some fresh blood in our posts. Welcome!

Susie

No, no, no Susie. You didn't put me off at all. You're just trying to keep things orderly. I can totally understand that.

Lisa
