Hi all - Happy August!!
I am psyched to be on track again. I haven't really been 'feeling it' for the past week... had a great chat with my doctor at the clinic and feel way better. I am missing people - I know it is summer and people are off playing but one of the things that I now know is that I like the routine of it all - Susie - McBoo - Jo - Jerry - you were/are my keep it going motivators - so hoping that everyone eventually comes back soon... or that we all get to the maintenance post!!! (13 pounds to go)

I do really appreciate all the that people are writing - and I wonder where the people who touched in for awhile and are no longer writing are...

Here's to August!

Not really among the missing, nor am I on vacation. I am going through a rather long interview process to go back to my company after being "displaced" in mid March. And my attention has been there lately rather than here. I am still working the program the same as ever and as you can see from my stats, I am now in single digits to my goal weight.

I am sure you will be back on track in no time. You have the right attitude and the winning mindset! I am sure your trip to Spain was spectacular! And I know you will be okay at work. If I can think of more suggestions for you, I will.

I try to check in with the various threads each day. Thank you for missing me.

Jo-That's great that you have an opportunity to get back in with your former company. Kudos to you for focusing on that and your weightloss. Good luck on the job front! And of course with the 9 remaining pounds! El

Hi everyone! I just started the plan today and feel great! My husband started last week and had a great week one losing 10.4 pounds. (I am jealous he's eating veggies this week!) I'm super excited about the plan and am thrilled to have found this forum! I'm glad to see so many people are successfully working and living the plan.

Did Day 2 of Week 1 of Couch-to-5k today. OUCH. I believe I will be repeating this week!!

Jo, best of luck with your job!! It's good to give that your full attention

My Wii says I have lost a couple pounds, which is great! It is highly inaccurate though since I use it on carpet. I would LOVE to lose 3.2 this week and say I hit 50lbs! But we'll see. I haven't had that big of a drop in a while.

Kate, potty training was a huge failure here today. Don't know if you're in the throes of it yet, but it was horrible for us.

McBoo - Thanks for the August thread!

Macauley - You sound like you are ready to really to lose that last 13! Can't wait to celebrate when you hit goal!

Jo - that is so exciting about returning to your old company. And 9 pounds from goal...wow! I just looked at your #s and you are such an inspiration! I can't wait to see before/after pictures of you!

Stackles - welcome! Congrats to your husband and hope you have a great weigh in!

Jessica - I hear ya on repeating...I am repeating each week...it is still TOUGH! but a great workout! Potty training is just beginning here....I work full time and our sitter said she is really going to start focusing on it starting Monday (she has a daughter the same age)....we shall see! I look forward to not having to buy diapers!!

Happy August everyone! I have been lurking for a bit and thought I would jump in since it is still early in the month.

I'm starting month three and am trying to branch out with my food options. I tried PB2 today. I thought it was pretty good for being PB sans all the fat (the good part). Does any one know if this is something I can have every day as part of my 500 calories of protein? Tonight I am going to try the miracle noodles using the Hungry Girl girlfredo recipe. I have to admit...I am a bit skeptical. Has anyone else tried this?

SF Pizza Sauce

Hi All. I'm in my first week and will go for weigh in on Tuesday. Can't wait to add some new foods to the diet! I saw the recipe for Crustless pizza and was wondering if anyone can tell me where to find it and who makes it?

I've checked all the local food stores (Publix, Winn Dixie, WalMart) but can't find it anywhere. We have a healthfood store about 20 mins. from here. Should I check there instead?

Thanks in advance!!

There is a recipe using cauliflower for pizza crust under the recipe thread and you can also google cauliflower crust. I haven't tried it yet but plan to this week. I also found a recipe for zucchini crust too! The recipe threads and other meal threads gave me great ideas in meal planning. I am so thankful for the veterans here who put the time into establishing those threads. Give a look and you may be surprised with what you find! Best of luck. I just finished my 2nd week with 11.2lb loss. The first week so so brutally hard for me but like nothing the 2nd week.

I replied to you previously but I posted to the wrong forum. I had super success training all 3 of my kids over a weekend (separately) by having them wear no bottoms! Fortunately, I had hardwood and tiled floors so it wasn't to bad. Keep paper towels and floor cleaner ready. It works so well because they see and feel at the same time. I had 1 boy and 2 girls and all trained by 22 months. After the initial weekend they rarely had and accident in the first week. By the 2nd week they were trained through the night. My friends have tried it and it worked for them too! Let me know what you think!

I forgot to mention that what I'm looking for is the SF Spaghetti Sauce specifically. Sorry about that and thanks to anyone who can tell me where to get it!

Calling all veterans! I wondered if I do NOT eat the full 500 calories of protein each day is a problem? I am concerned my body will tap muscle for the protein but I am often not hungry for all the protein calories. I could get around this by not having a shake in the am for breakfast but I really dont care for eggs. Any thoughts?

chrislaurie- Thanks for your advice about potty training! She was much calmer today and was back to her usual happy self wanting to sit on the potty but not producing anything. The approach was way too stressful for her.

In answer to your question, the 500 cal or protein are VERY important. Your body needs that or you will go into starvation mode and also become malnourished. I don't like eggs either, so I eat fat free cottage cheese with strawberries or turkey bacon or Jimmy Deen fully cooked turkey sausage. I kind of alternate depending on whether I'm in the mood for salty or sweet. Lowfat cheese is my friend for snacks. If you haven't already tried Oopsie rolls, you should! They are sooo good and can be sweet or savory. Google them or look on this board.

In response to your question about "cheating" on the newbies board... the more processed carbs you introduce into your body, the more you'll crave them. I made it 10 weeks without cheating and felt great and not deprived at all. Then I went to Russia for a week in a camp setting where I had no food choices, just what was offered to me which was ALL carbs. Since returning, it has been a struggle. Ask yourself... are your kids' snacks THAT good, really? Are they so tempting? Try to find a healthy, lower carb alternative to your trigger foods and use those sparingly if you feel like you need it. You'll find that the people on this board are very "against" cheating based on experience. I'm sure other people may have comments too, but that's just my experience. Hang in there!!! 12 lbs in 2 weeks is awesome!

YES-you absolutely need to eat the full 500 calories of protein.

Some options--FF or LF Cottage Cheese. I microwave Walden Farms Raspberry Jelly for 10 seconds and mix into the Cottage Cheese and top with 1 cup or fruit.

Also, check out Fage Greek Yogurt. MAJOR source of protein. I mix in Walden Farms Carmel dip or Chocolate Dip and a few crushed walnuts.

Protein shakes in chocolate-add WF or PB2 Peanut Butter.

Ask your center for some more suggestions but definitely eat those 500 calories as they are key to losing weight. El

Hmm, thanks for the cottage cheese Ideas. I really don't care for the taste or texture but the jelly idea intrigues me! I didn't think yogurt was ok, but if I can use it as a lunch due to high protein count I am so in! I need to try and find some of the Walden Farms items. I have only seen salad dressings. Maybe Trader Joes?? Thanks for the ideas.

ChrisLaurie - As the PP said, yes you need the 500 protein calories. Some of my favorite sources for the protein (other than meat) are Low fat cheese sticks, EAS shakes, and my absolute fav is Fage Greek Fat Free Yogurt. The only yogurt I allow myself is fat free greek strained yogurt. It is not your typical yogurt but I put 1 packet of splenda in it and a few raspberries and it is so good and packed with protein! I do not like cottage cheese at all and have not had it since I have been on this.

Danon makes Lit 'n' Fit Carb and Sugar control yogurt that is 50 cal a serving and pretty good. Like everyone else is saying getting at least 500 calaries in is critical as is drinking at least 128 ounces of water a day. For in between meals I use the EAS shakes, F/F cheese slices, or South Beach snack bars- you have to check the contents carefully though as not all varieties meet our guidelines. I like the peanut butter one its 100 cal, 6g protein and 4 net carbs (very close to the Medi bars) there is a chocolate one that's good too but I can't remember the flavor off the top of my head. I'll check later and let you know if your interested. GOOD LUCK!

Happy Monday to All!

It's Monday, the start of a new week and a recommitment to ourselves and our health!

I have planned my weeks food and did some cooking over the weekend to help me have the right things in the house. Planning really helps me!

I went for a walk yesterday, about 2 miles early in the AM and when I got back, I was feeling not very good, I think I may have been dehydrated as I got right up, didn't drink anything and went out in the 90 degree here in AZ morning. So I had to sit in my recliner and drink some fluids and rest.
I tell you it really made me think about my health and just how important it is we take care of ourselves.
We are doing the right thing, losing the excess weight and changing our habits for the better!

~Sue~ Take at least a liter of water with you when you walk here in AZ (or anywhere else too). You will dehydrate EXTREMELY quickly in our heat. I am headed out now, as I got up later than usual, and I have TWO liters of water ready to go. It is currently 92 outside. I have walked in hotter temps and those are THREE liter walks.

Does anyone know about how many grams of protein I should shoot for daily? I don't have a gauge for even what amount of protein per meal is good.

Ginny – thank you, it helps knowing you didn’t lose a lot at every weigh in. Your journey is inspirational; I can’t wait to get there!

Mommy-2-girls- taking 2 AS at 3:00pm is a great idea. Thanks! So do you take 4 AS a day or just take your lunch AS late and your dinner AS early?

Sunshyn141 – Welcome fellow Floridian I am in the West Palm Beach!

Fsureatty – Welcome! I just bought some miracle noodles on Friday, b/c everyone here seems to love them, I will let you know how they are!

Has anyone asked there clinic to up there AS? How did they respond to it? I am thinking about asking them if I can take 2 in the pm for a total of 4 a day b/c I get really hungry at night. Any thoughts?

I did bring along a bottle of water with me but didn't take too many sips from it, I usually drink a big glass before I go but got up and just went out and did it, I know better now for sure!
