All of my larger pants have now become tight and uncomfortable; I have gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and cannot keep gaining at this rate. Angela; Good Luck at your first appointment. This really is an amazing program and it DOES work if you let it. Don't be shy about any questions or concerns you may have. Everyone here is great and can help you as you start out.

For all of those Long Timers who have offered great advice- thank you! Although some people may thing some of the responses are a little "strong" I feel the straight forwardness of them as a kick in the butt at times! Nicey nice doesn't always get the same message across. I appreciate the seriousness behind some of the responses as a wake up call to get me to rethink or reflect on an idea. I got several responses regarding cheating and they woke me up again as to the purpose behind the journey- value myself more!

I love the inspiration from real people who have successfully completed the journeys and are proof that it works and can be done with the right attitude, committment and motivation.

Thanks again all-

They help me satisfy the cravings for a "burger"...which has always been my favorite food. I also want to try cooking them in the pan halfway, then throwin some pizza type toppings on them, and cooking the rest of the way

I don't know if I should throw this in the recipe section, but here is a treat I have been eating at night. (I don't have all the specifics on calories in front of me at the moment)

Justin's Ice Cream Bonanza
Whey Protein Powder Chocolate - 2 scoops
4 oz water
4 oz almond milk (you could do just 8 oz of water, or almond milk as well)
shake up in a shaker, pour into a bowl, stick in freezer. at the halfway frozen point, spoon in some sugar free cool whip and mix that up...return to freezer until desired texture is reached.
I add a packet of truvia sometimes to make it sweeter depending on which whey I have.

You could easily add some blueberries, grapes, or anything like that to add to the texture. It's so delicious.

I have added the PB2 powder to it before, but I can't decide if I like the flavor of it or not
Justin,

Both your recipes sound wonderful. Please let me know how the pizza turns out. I am going to try your ice cream recipe as I have the whey protein powder and haven't been sure what to do with it. Do you think vanilla will work better with the pb2?

Definitely put it in the recipe thread (the pizza too if it works out), otherwise it will get lost and forgotten.

I absolutely love it that you are experimenting and coming up with recipes that satisfy you. That is key and why you have been so successful. If this WOE meant eating lunchmeat and eggs all the time I couldn't do it.

I could not agree more! I have been doing this program for 10 weeks so in a way I still consider myself new to this lifestyle. I find the tips, encouragement, honest opinions and recipes etc from McBoo, Susie, Jo, Robyn, Heidi and the rest of the gang SO helpful and encouraging. Frankly, everytime I feel a little weak or have a craving I come on here and see what people are saying. By the time I log off I am over it and move on. Like others have said this is a lifestyle change and not a diet. I never call it a diet because I will be eating like this for the rest of my life I am certain of it...I feel so good I could not imagine going back to feeling like I used to! I say to myself all the time "It's just food"! Food does not make me happy or more fulfilled.

The week I started this I also went to the consultations for a lap-band. Boy am I glad I did this. I am not done having children and have a goal to be on maintenance by April of 2010 and hope to be pregnant later in the year. I know so much now and will be able to have a healthy pregnancy while still maintainly my new lifestyle both during and after pregnancy. I am so excited about what the future holds for me and would not have gotten this far without encouragement and advice from the people on this board, my clinic and family/friends. Thank you. (ok, now off my soapbox too )

Will do. I have not tried the vanilla whey like this, although I do have some. You could experiment with the walden farms chocolate syrup too during the freezing process...

And you are absolutely right...you have to get creative and learn to cook!! I am a decent cook, but I never did it...now my wife is in love with me all over again because most nights I am preparing our dinners...

I only made them once, they kind of taste like cake to me. I am just as happy using lettuce as a wrap or even just use imported ham with a laughing cow cheese in the middle wrapped up.

A little off topic - I have been SO extremely giddy this week! Not only am I 3 lbs away from "one"derland and CONVINCED I will break that barrier at next weeks weigh-in, but, tonight I go to my step-son's middleschool open house, tomorrow is my oldest son's kindergarten open house, and my baby turns two tomorrow. I am just in awe of life right now and loving every minute of it!

But aside from all the reasons for natural highs I've got going on this week, I opted for the "second" shot at my last appt. and am wondering if this might be affecting my mood as well? As sad as it is to say it, I'm normally a pretty calm person, so this "giddy" feeling is a little out of character for me. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ok...back on topic: Wow have a missed a LOT in the past two days!

Jo Your 8/19 post was amazing. I am seriously printing out a copy of it and posting it in my bathroom and at my office. I have not slipped yet and don't intend to, but what a great reminder of the commitment we're all making here!

Sue So glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to Sanibel! Its a beautiful island. And I really like the advise about trying on old clothes when you feel like slipping of the plan. I think that's genious. On another note, I tried the Miracle Noodles, according to your directions, last night and still got the fishy taste. I don't think I'll be trying them again...I guess they're not for everyone. But I'm really bummed because I was looking forward to a pasta substitute

Question for those on Maitenance Due to all the posts about changes in diet after the Acute Phase and the importance of maitenance, I was wondering if you veterans wouldn't mind sharing with us Acuters what some of the changes are between the two phases? What kinds of foods are you allowed to reintroduce? Does the amount of caloric intake increase or stay the same? Etc.

Thanks everyone!!!! HAPPY LOSING!!!!

I had my 6th weigh-in today. I felt as if I had stalled, but I lost 3 pounds this past week for a total of 21.2 pounds in six weeks. My belly, however, went up 1.5" (it's that lady TOM). It amazes me how much our hormones mess with our bodies! Anyway, it was exciting to change my avatar to the next level. Yippee!

Hi Everyone. I am new and started my Medi diet on Aug 11. - my first weigh in I lost 6.5lbs. I was excited but was also kinda upset from seeing everyones larger loses. I am doing another week of week 1 again.. to try and get another large number. My clinic suggested this saying lots of people do it. Has anyone else done it on here. Well I cant wait to become part of the network.. yall seem like a very supportive group.

Hey there, fellow Texan! Welcome! Your first week was great - it all depends on where you are starting from. You started at 2 pounds less than me and I lost 7 pounds the first week, so we're pretty close on numbers there. As for a repeat of Week 1, I love veggies too much to have repeated, but I would consider it if I stall or gain on the plan. Are you in the Dallas area?

Well that the thing.. I only like two of the veggies really. I am not a big salad person either unless its loaded up to the rim. I am having no trouble so far bc I find it fairly easy and simple for me just to eat meat and some cheese. I am hoping for another large lose instead of 2 lbs or so. How long have you been doing medi. I am from the Waco area.

just a ramble -
I had a weigh in today and I was talking to my doc about knowing what weight should be my goal weight (I had picked a number that was just one in my head as being 'the one'). She suggested that my BMI be about 22 and she also suggested that I go for a range and not a number (like 140-145). She said that I would know when I got there.

I am not quite sure I will know because I find that it is hard to 'see' my weight right now. Maybe it is hard to even feel it - like hauling around the 35 lbs of bricks and realizing that that is how much I have dropped off - or looking at the plastic 10 lbs of fat at the clinic and thinking that I have dropped off more than 3 of those...wow that is a lot of space three of those take!

I wonder if that isn't part of the issue. I can remember hearing people make comments about heavy people saying 'how did they let themselves get that way'... and on the other side - "I didn't realize how fat I was"...

so to those of you at goal - how did you know?

A church group provided all of the teachers with a "Survival Kit" today that was full of chocolate, pretzels, popcorn, etc. And they're right.......that is EXACTLY how I (& most other teachers) survived the stress of the week before school in the past, but this year I am so proud that I haven't given in. As soon as I saw the "kit", I stuffed it in the bottom of my bag & gave all of it to my kids as soon as I got home. They thought it was Halloween & it was such a relief to have it out of my hands!

Susie- I tried the oopsie roll pizza and it was just OK. Half way through eating it the "crust" was a little soggie and I didn't feel that the calories were worth it for such a small amount of protein. But that's just me. I still would like to try the "zucchini or Cauliflower crust pizza someday though.

You have to look at where everyone else started. People who have more to lose will lose more quickly- at least at first. Even though I lost 9.5 the first week, I only lose 1-2 pounds a weeks now on average...Slow and steady wins the race.

I know what you mean. Our PTA gave the teachers a welcome back breakfast with a variety of things including bagels, donuts, some egg dishes that I didn't touch for fear of what they were made with, and fruit. I took about 5 grapes and a sausage patty to be "nice" even though I had my shake before hand. Then the PTA gave us all samples of the cookies we will be selling in a fundraiser...Well I just took the little bag of cookies and gave them to someone else right away!!

Today is a staff luncheon in the park with sandwich rings and chicken. We will be at a park, so I will bring my lunch bag just in case I don't think I can eat it, but I think I will be ok even though the chicken will be fried. I'll bring a piece of fruit too in place of the chips they provide. Heck maybe I'll be crazy and bring some pork rinds. Those are my "chips" when I want a crunch.

We can do this!!

Nope, I only did week one the first week, I was in ketosis so went to the second week phase. Not everyone on here has huge 10+ first week weigh ins. It depends on lots of things and one is how much weight you have to loose in the first place. I only, lol, needed to loose 30 lbs. My first week I dropped 5.5 and then every week after was pretty much 1-2 a week. Did have a couple of weeks that were more but pretty much 1-2. I still think some people that don't have as much to loose have unrealistic views of this program. It didn't take you a week or two to put on the weight so shouldn't expect it all to come off in a month. Like others have said, slow and steady win the race. Good luck and 6.5 is just awesome, good work,

As soon as I saw the "kit", I stuffed it in the bottom of my bag & gave all of it to my kids as soon as I got home. They thought it was Halloween & it was such a relief to have it out of my hands!
I am so proud of you!

I make them and find them the perfect breakfast food cuz you can take & go with it. Sometimes I add pb or preserves to it for variety. You can toast them too. I find the calories w/ toppings quite reasonable and filling for a breakfast. But, I have never been a bfast eater before. I need to eat in the am before I take all my supplements & AS or i get nauseous.

oh, and I make them and put in fridge. It takes about 10 min to make and oh say 20 min to bake depending how you do it. i put them in a muffin tin but today will try on a cookie sheet for them to be flat instead of muffinish.

How long have you been doing medi. I am from the Waco area.
Hey there and welcome to the program! I'm on my fourth week (officially) and have the same issue with the veggies. I try to get them in once or twice a week, but I have a really hard time stomaching them. So, on the off days, I just eat my one cup of fruit and I've still been losing 3 lbs a week consistently. But everyone is different. You'll have to expirament a little and see if your body can tolerate that. Remember that the veggies are really good for you so you should try to eat them. Try cooking them in with your meat if you haven't already. It helps with the flavor a little bit. Good luck!

Thank you! Do you have the recipe to make them and the nutrition facts? Or where I can find them?

I found it online anyway, thanks!
