I've been eating either Cottage Cheese for Breakfast or the Dannon Light n Fit yogurt. Lunch 3 days a week I eat scrambled eggs and the other 4 days slimey lunch me. Having trouble choking it down sometimes. My dinner are either chicken, pork chop or hamburger (all lean meat) but those too I have trouble getting down. UGH.

I was told at Medi only 1 dairy product a day so if I eat the cottage cheese or yogurt for b-fast then I can't eat a piece of cheese later. UGH!

I'm picky. I don't like any seafood and not very adventurous with other foods.

Also, as far as Ketosis - is the Lg 8.0 bad or just means need more water?

Any advice?
Another fact stressed by my center was when eating Dannon Light & Fit yogurt, make sure it is the Light & Fit Carb & Sugar Control. If not, even though low in calories, the other Light & Fits are loaded with CARBS! I can't seem to locate the Carb & Sugar Control in Dallas so I eat Cultural Revolution Organic Plain 2% Yogurt from Whole Foods instead. the 6 oz container has 50 cals, 3 fat & 3 carbs. I add Walden Farms Maple Syrup for yummy breakfast every morning.
Also, I understand having a problem with dry meats, but you can & must find a way to cope. I have an esophageal problem inherited from my grandmother. Dryer meats like white meat chicken, turkey, poached salmon, tuna, etc stick in my esophagus. It just closes up around the food. Liquids are of no help to get it down. So, I have resorted to the Walden Farms salad dressings and dips to assist in getting the lean meats down. They work great - you just have to experiment to see which flavors appeal. Luckily, a store in our area allows tastes of some of these products. Among others I've purchased, about a third have ended up in the trash. Two other products I use for getting lean meats down are a bit of my above-mentioned yogurt or Hellmann's Low Fat Mayonnaise Dressing with 15 cals, 1 fat and 2 carbs per Tbsp. Hope these hints can help you too.

I live and work in Las Colinas. I'm moving to Addison in a few weeks. I've noticed now that I'm under 140 the weight is coming off very slow from .5 to 1 lb per week. Have you notice this trend to? I am indulging in club soda and vodka on the weekends, but I watch everything else. Wasn't sure if you were having similar results.

Fees...my clinic told me I'd have to pay $35 for an extra week of prescription for admin fees. This was irritating since all they do is print out a prescription from the computer then stamp the doctor's signature on it. I even offerred to pay for the meds myself since it's $8 for a week with my insurance, and they said no. Anyone else have these additional charges?

Mary, I agree with Jo about the carb count of that patty you inquired on. You may also want to take a look at Boca burgers. The Grilled Vegetable burger has 80 cals and 7 carbs. Boca Cheeseburger has 100 cals and only 6 carbs. The All American Flame Grilled has 100 cals and 7 carbs. Finally, the Boca Vegan Burger (which lacks flavor so I add liquid smoke) has 70 cals and 6 carbs. I'd just hate for any of us to expend half of the daily carb allowance on one veggie patty!

The store is called Sugarless Delite, located in Richardson on Campbell Road near the intersection with Coit. I agree on the WF ketchup and the mayo - YUK! Heinz makes a Reduced Sugar Ketchup carried at some Tom Thumbs and Krogers. It's way better in flavor and has 5 cals, 0 fat and 1 carb per tablespoon. Also, although I use WF Hickory Smoked BBQ Sauce for myself, my mate doesn't care for it and uses KC Masterpiece Low Calorie Classic Blend Barbecue Sauce with 10 cals, 0 fat and 2 carbs per tablespoon (don't know if carried locally - I purchased from Netrition.com). Sometimes a wee bit of cals and carbs are worth it compared to chemical flavors!
If you haven't tried WF Pancake Syrup, I highly recommend it. I use it daily to sweeten my plain yogurt. The first ingredient following water is maple flavor. It truly does taste like maple syrup and it has the right texture too.

Yes, I do notice lesser weight loss. I lost only 1.8 pounds at my weigh-in last week. Even though the loss slowed, I'm not complaining. I'll gladly take 1.8 every week as long as I don't stall or gain in any weeks. 1.8 lb per week would put me into maintenance in 8 & 1/2 weeks, just in time for my weigh in October 15th.
I had my 30-year HS reunion ad allowed myself 2 vodka sodas this weekend, so I'm sure I won't have a better weigh-in this week. I'm back on alcohol abstinence again - the calories just aren't worth it! It's San Pellegrino & lemon for me until I hit maintenance. If I continue at this slower pace, I will still reach maintenance before my beloved Texas Longhorns play OU October 17th. Yippee!

Look at you - you know better. You're doing great! If you lost 2 pounds every week for a year, you'd weigh less than a supermodel and blow away with the slightest breeze! Stay positive! You didn't stall. You didn't gain.....

I'm sometimes eating the Dannon Light & Fit yougurt with 60 calories for breakfast. It would be nice to put something like granola or something crunch in it for something "different". Any thoughts?

NO, don't add granola. You're going to overload on carbs. You have to love yourself more than you love these foods - they can't love you back. they're how we all got here. We all love and miss them, but choose to love ourselves and our health more. PLEASE, check your yogurt. The Light & Fit 60 calorie yogurt already has lots carbs if it's not the Carb & Sugar control kind. It's not even allowed by my center, only the carb & sugar control light & fit. The 4 ounce 60 calorie containers have 10 to 11 carbohydrates each. That's half (10) or more of our entire daily carb allowance.
If you must have crunch, you may want to try Emerald Cocoa Roast Almonds. Just take a few, weigh them, chop & add to yogurt. Make sure to record the cals, fat & carbs in your food diary. But please don't go to granola.
Granola's not even allowed in the acute phase. What center do you go to? It seems that they have left out a lot of details they should have gone over with you!

luvlonghorns- hold on hold on! I never said I was going to eat granola. I was asking for idea "like" granola.

I was advised by my clinic that the Dannon Light & Fit yogurt 60 calories is fine. My packages matches the one they have for display at the clinic. So I'm doing that right. It's my only dairy product of the day.

Thanks for the Emerald Cocoa Roast Almonds idea.

That's a relief, Weburks14. I was just worried because I know that you had also had the issue with bacon. I, and everyone else here, I'm sure, want you to do great on this plan and be pleased with your results. BTW, if you can find Dannon L&F Carb & Sugar Control in your area, you'll save calories and carbs. Both Vanilla Cream and Blueberries & Cream have only 45 cals and 3 carbs in 4 oz. Strawberries & Cream has only 50 calories and 3 carbs in 4 oz.

Thank you so much. I could tell by your conviction that you care and I appreciate that. I was so happy to find this forum. It's really helpful. One thing I do think my clinic left out was my carb limit for the day. I do not recall being told that. But I do journal everything.

I'm am going out now to google and try to find that better yogurt to save the calories and carbs. Anything will help! Your choices above sound yummy!

Weigh in today: Lost another 3 lbs. That makes 10 since I started with Medi and 19 if you count the week before that when I kinda did my own thing. WOOHOO!!!! 19 lbs in 28 days...couldn't be happier. Only 1 lb left until the 20 lb mark, and only 4 lbs until I'm under 200!!!! Seriously, I didn't think I'd ever be able to say that.

Robyn Congrats on accomplishing your latest mini-goal! You are amazing!!! And have a great time this extended weekend. I live in the Ft. Myers area too. Its a great area and your daughter is going to have a blast at FGCU!

Justin 2 lbs in fantastic!!! Congrats on your accomplishments and keep up the good work!

Weighed in today!

Down 4.5 pounds this week! I've lost 20 pounds of fat since I started this journey, 23.1 pounds lost total!

One of my lessons this week was to put really put trust in my team. They told me to eat a minumum of 600-625 protein calories, where I had been eating 500-550. (this is why journaling is so important)! I laughed at them today when I told them that they know my body better than I do. Personally, I couldn't do Medi on my own. This program really works and I really appreciate the encouragement at my center. Just had to share that.

My second lesson was the benefit of trying new recipes and buying local produce. The recipes have been wonderful for my entire family. My husband who is supporting me has lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks. We are exposing our child to new foods. This is a lifestyle change for sure but it has not been hard for any of us. Planning meals a couple days in advance is a new concept in our home, but this is something we can maintain for sure. The local produce lasts longer in the fridge and taste so much richer! I bought 3 tomatoes from a neighbor and they were ruby red and lasted the entire week!

Off the soapbox now. Thank you Medi!

you guys are right. I didn't mean to sound depressed about a 2lb loss, hehe. A loss is a loss, plain and simple.

I'm so close to 70lbs gone, I was hoping to join Robyn in that bracket

Now it's gonna have to wait until next week!!

36 pounds till goal...it seems so achievable like it's right in my reach...I have never felt like this on any diet and I have tried so many.

Hey Everyone-

I haven't posted in a while so let me just start by saying CONGRATS to everyone for doing so well these last couple of weeks!!!! And welcome to all of the new post-ers...the board has really picked up lately... I'll have to make sure to come on more often.

I am still plugging away. I had hoped that my weigh-in last Friday would put me into one-der-land but no such luck. This week is definitely the week!!!

I have noticed a bit of a slow down in my weight loss which I expected to happen at some point but what is really interesting to me is that when I go through a spurt of lower losses I see a bigger difference in the fit of my clothes. Almost like my body is taking a breather and re-positioning itself. Anyone else experience this?

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!!!

We do not have the Dannon L&F Sugar/Carb control here in PHX at least that I can find. But Kroger's makes a Carb Control yogurt that is very very good and only has 4 carbs and 80 calories.

The thing you have to realize here is that you must absolutely learn to find other foods that are GOOD choices, perhaps new and different most probably than you have eaten in the past. After all, you did not get here by making good food choices. Falling back on those choices and wishing for them is going to do nothing but cause you problems, issues and a lack of success.

Again, carb limit for the day is 20g per day. At least at my clinic and many of the others. PLEASE PLEASE read the materials you were given on your initial visit, as there is a great deal of wonderful and helpful info there for you. Your clinic may even have some sample menus for weeks 1 through 6. I know that mine does.

There are no freebies here, everything you eat and drink...everything you put in your mouth must be journaled if you are to track your journey. Those who journal everything are more successful than those who do not. I cannot begin to tell you the number of people I have seen begin this program only to fall away when it gets "too hard", or "I really do not like meat", or "I miss chocolate".

This is a major life style change you have embarked on. Either you accept it or you don't. Either you work within the guidelines or you don't. It is your money, and your life. And ultimately your choice. I really do not mean to be harsh or unfeeling, but it just amazes me no end that people look at MWL as a quick fix, or a little diet to go on for a while. IT IS NONE OF THOSE THINGS. This program will change your life, if you commit to it and follow the guidelines. If not, as I said before, you will not succeed. It is your choice.
And yours alone.

Jo

All the Publix and Sweetbay's in the area carry it.

I second your statement about the slow pound loss week corresponding to a change in fit of clothing. Last week I was initially disappointed that I only lost 1.8 pounds - that is, until we measured the fattest measurement around my belly. This area had not budged through my more rapid loss of pounds, but came down over an inch the week I only lost that 1.8 pounds. Weird, isn't it? Maybe our intelligent bodies know to take a break to adjust our physiques after periods of rapid weight loss.

Congrats to Heidi, Robyn and Justin! And to anyone else I missed. I love to see the results for all of you who are working the program so well.

I'm am going out now to google and try to find that better yogurt to save the calories and carbs. Anything will help! Your choices above sound yummy!
What about a tiny bit of Fiber one Cereal? I use that ground up for the cheesecake bites.

Week 3 Weigh In

My weigh in was more pleasant this week. I was down 5 lbs. & 8 lbs. of fat. Puts me at a total of 13 lbs. since starting Medi on July 28th & 23 lbs. since starting on my own on July 1st. The Dr. was nice this time too. I also survived the doughnut breakfast at school yesterday. Now for today, I'm getting prepared to deal with a catered breakfast & lunch. The principal said there should be some things I will be able to eat. I am going to have to be sure to drink LOTS of extra water today just in case. ( & take some back up food in case of an emergency! )

Jo

Desert Rose - you are correct, harsh is what it is. I'm not falling off or thinking this is an easy fix. Isn't this a place to ask questions and to get information? I don't think I should be judged as though I'm looking for an easy way out or a quick fix. I am following the plan. I lost 8lbs the first week and still going.

Thanks to all of you who did respond to my question(s) I appreciate the time.

Back up foods are a great idea, bring a salad of your own so you feel like you fit in relatively unnoticed cuz you are eating real food.Remember you can pick out protein & Veg/fruit out of whatever is being served! Usually a salad is part of the catered lunches too! I found it helpful in the past to let others know I was on a diet and they were supportive and understanding too! You will do just fine.

Please don't take what Jo said to you so personal. Those of us who have been on the plan for a very long time know that it takes a lot of work to do this diet. We see lots of people come and go, and that is a real shame as this WOE really helps you to understand your cravings but more importantly portion control - which is probably the biggest downfall for everyone on this board.

It just appeared in some of your posts that you were looking for ways around the diet and unfortunately to lose the weight on this plan it must be followed 100%. 500 Cals of protein, 2 servings of Veggies, Carbs under 20 grams and 1 gallon of water per day. Thats it, no more no less and don't forget about the exercise.

Look at the recipes on this site, there are some really good ideas and please experiment on your own, we are all looking for new ideas. Again, those of us who have been here for a long time don't just eat lunch meat and chicken breast, we have a lot of variety in what we eat, it is just Medi Friendly.

Good luck and keep posting. You are just getting your feet wet and you will come to love this plan once you get used to it.

Robyn
